My Interview with 49ers Rookie Michael Robinson (1 Viewer)

Chris Yandek

Footballguy
Hey guys. I had the opportunity to interview San Francisco 49ers rookie and former Penn State quarterback Michael Robinson to talk about his first training camp, making the transition to other parts of the offense and special teams, how far the 49ers can go, reflecting back on the 11-1 2005 Penn State season, Joe Paterno thoughts and a story, importance of finishing his college education, and so much more.

You can read and listen to the interview at the link below

All feedback is appreciated.

Hope everyone is well.

Nice job on the interview.

Robinson definitely has all the intangibles. It will be interesting to see what type of impact he can make in the NFL.

Honestly, there is nothing special with the questions you asked. Papa Joe stories, his injury in '04, his feelings towards coaches... these have been answered in other interviews. Dig deeper, get something new out of him.

Gore's easily breakable and Barlow's nothing special... he was drafted as a RB... get some controversy going. Ask how much playing time he should get over those two. Does he feel he could challenge for the top RB spot and be more than a special play type of guy. I don't know, stuff like that.

I thought about that after the interview. I appreciate your criticism. Just because you know something doesn't mean everyone else does. I did ask about his role on the team and he admitted he will be part of the special teams probably. I do appreciate all your guys feedback though.

I guess you don't want to run him off either with questions he may not want to discuss, especially if it was the first time you talked with him. I know nothing about journalism or interviewing people, but I'd assume keeping the talks simple and safe at first will probably help set you up with future interviews.

This is why I'd be fired as a reporter. When I was interning for Pittman's radio show, I wrote this down on a notecard with some other questions for him:"Now that Cadillac has been named the No.1 back before the season starts, how excited do you feel about special teams and being a backup?"Pretty sure he wanted to beat my ###.

Yeah, I was half kidding. He read my notecard to himself and said "Okay Intern Mike isn't allowed to ask any more questions."He was actually pretty cool about it though, and talked about how he had actually asked coach (forget his name) to help out on special teams. But agreed, love for people to ask the tough questions. I don't have a problem being a hard-### on these boards, but I would make for a much better Judge than a reporter. I need immunity on my side :D

Michael would of answered probably anything I asked. He was one of the guys you know you could have lunch with.

I just didn't think of the running back question. You usually don't run into the same guy again for an interview, but I do ask the hard questions usually. Sometimes there just isn't a lot to ask a rookie. I think it's easier to ask the tough NFL questions once he has done something on the field.

Good thing you aren't married to him...
