My season has thus far been a success (or bust) because _____. (1 Viewer)

My season has been a success because of George W. Bush, sugar-free Red Bull, and those little Bit O' Honey candies.

Bust in a TD-only league 'cause SJax can't get his big butt over the goalline. Culpepper and Chambers didn't help much either, combining with poor lineup guessing. Still hope though, only 1 game out of the wild card.

Successful because I finally figured out how to draft properly.

In previous years, I would draft by picking up the best projected player available. This year I learned that player may still be available next round.

I was able to use the projections and the ADP list to put together a solid squad that has me tied for first in my 2 money leagues.

I chose my 2nd and 3rd round picks to be Steve Smith and Torry Holt. Due to Smith's hammy, I really studied up and added Colston and Cotchery to a good unit.

The rest of my players have been solid, but that might be where I avoided the biggest land mines (Chad J, Fitz, TO, etc.).

Due to the use of ADP and applying it to my leagues draft and Mock Drafting multiple times.

Due to drafting: See sig, I hit on almost every draft pick ...... My biggest busts (droped them) Viniteiri, Miami D, and Lendale White!

I'm 5-0 in a start 2 QB league, and it's entirely due to my draft. Big props to the FBG cheatsheet for helping guide me with drafting the mid-late round RBs and WRs.

QB: Bulger, Favre, Kitna

RB: L Johnson, Parker, T Jones, R Droughns, M Jones-Drew

WR: Harrison, Driver, Coles, Evans, Bruce

Def: Baltimore (exceptional 14th round value!) :banned:

PK: Tynes

The only guys on my roster that I didn't draft are Jones-Drew (I drafted Morency and dropped him before the move to GB) and Tynes (PK bye week issues).

The only short-term concern I have now is what to do when Baltimore is on bye. If I cut them for the week, I know one of the scrub team owners will pick them up since they'll have waiver priority, but I can't bear to cut any of my other players. Not that I'm complaining :D

What do you attribute to your successful (or unsuccessful for that matter) season thus far?For me, it has been the free agent/waiver wire pickups. I have picked up the following guys in my main league for *free*:Rex Grossman, Maurice Morris, Greg Jennings, Marques Colston, Robbie Gould, San Diego DEFCombined with an overall solid draft, my team is already looking like a contender for the championship. I'd like to hear what others have done to build their winning teams, or what mistakes they've made to start their season on the wrong foot.
I am 5-0 and high scoring team in our 12-team league for several reasons....1. I bailed out in 2005 and snagged an extra 2nd, 4th, and 5th round pick in trading my good players to wannabe playoff teams. I also got Fast Willie as a keeper, who I was able to keep with a 7th round pick (we get to keep two guys). I then turned a 4.10 and 9.04 into two 6th round picks, so I was stacked in early to mid round picks. Giving up on a season can provide nice rewards the following season.2. Having these picks enabled me to ignore fbg advice regarding waiting on a QB and I picked up McNabb in the 4th. 3. Luck- Grabbed McNabb in the 4th (I had him as my #1 QB all the way, presuming Peyton wouldn't last until my 2.09 pick, which he didn't), got lucky getting Jeff Wilkins (kickers are always a complete roll of the dice, aren't they) and several others.
