Mychal Rivera (1 Viewer)

Hopefully everyone dropped him two weeks ago, per my advice as one who followed the game action rather than those who elevated a garbage-time TD into "TE1" status.

KC linebackers were playing good coverage on him. When the KC pass rush picked up in the 2nd half they were keeping him in to block most of the time.

On the Jones TD play he wasn't even on the field. Probably because they wanted to show a running personnel group and he's not a great blocker.

In hindsight he had success against teams that don't generate much of a pass rush and can't cover TEs well with their LBs, so he is useless until week 17 when it won't matter.

I don't make a move without first checking what cjv123 has to say.
Good for you.

The comment is because I was ridiculed in here for saying to drop Rivera.
Relax. You even backtracked on the drop idea yourself. You were not ridiculed, you were challenged. It is different. So sensitive. It was silly given what he had done for the 3 week run. He still is not a drop IMO. Rivera has scored his points in garbage time. The Raiders have a lot of games with garbage time in them. This was not one of them. He is still a solid TE 2, and unless you have a very short bench, he is not a drop IMO. Especially in dynasty.

I hate the TE position this year.

I think I've been wrong every single week.
If it's any solace even the Jimmy Graham owners have had a rough last couple weeks.

Maybe it's time to totally get rid of the required TE position. Flex out to TE/WR and let those few worthwhile TEs play while the rest of the trash don't hit lineups or even rosters.

Rotoworld:

ESPN Raiders reporter Bill Williamson expects TE Mychal Rivera to open the season as the starter.

We'll see. The low-upside and plodding Rivera will be pushed hard by third-round rookie Clive Walford, who drew some Dwayne Allen comps during the pre-draft process. There could also be room for both tight ends to play together as Rivera is more of a "move" tight end and Walford profiles in-line. Neither one has a very appetizing fantasy outlook.

Me and his Mom may be the only two believers out there, but i thought he progressed fairly well last season along with Carr. I think he has a chance to move into the top ten in PPR scoring for TE's.

Rotoworld:

Mychal Rivera - TE - Raiders

Mychal Rivera caught three passes for 42 yards in the Raiders' third preseason game.

Rivera remained Derek Carr's chain-moving safety valve, making tough catches over the middle. There was early-camp talk of Rivera losing his starting job to rookie Clive Walford, but Walford has missed almost all of training camp with a hamstring injury. Through three preseason affairs, Rivera has four catches for 61 yards. He'll be a low-ceiling TE2 in fantasy this season.
