N. CA "Stormaggedon" (1 Viewer)

Winds 73 mph and 2" in rain in the past 1.5 hours in Daly City.
So pretty much a normal rain storm in the southeast?

EDIT: NM looks like willie beat me to it.
I didn't know we should be comparing the storm to what other states can see. Seems like it would make more sense to look at your own state's records to determine what is out of the norm.
Point is....

CA:  Our state is so dry.. we're in record droughts!

CA:  Our state is so wet...we're having a strong rain storm (for many areas) but we're acting like the world is ending

WORLD: Tough ####... leave?

CA: NO! We LOVE it here! :hot:
:lmao:

My flight back to OAK from LA has been cancelled. Well, i guess i will be heading to PHX instead for the weekend.

You may want to rethink that... our system is going there, next. As in this weekend......

I'd go to Vegas instead. No rain and much more fun there..

Californians are spoiled (or maybe cursed, depending on your perspective). We get rain and it's suddenly a "storm."

I have a road race (car) scheduled for Saturday rain or shine in phx. This should be an interesting weekend.

Looks to be light for Sat and 0 for Sun. However they just changed our forecast for next Wed from mostly cloudy to now we have showers. :D

You mean an area that regularly undergoes this type of weather and has built up the city to easily handle this type of climate is going to differ from a city that doesn't usually undergo this type of weather and isn't built to handle this much at once?

DYNAMITE NEWS FLASH, ICON. THANK YOU FOR THIS GROUND BREAKING INSIGHT.

well my office is officially closed in SF - should i get to stop working even though i am in LA?
Sure. You all deserve the same benefits don't you? Just don't tell the boss to be safe though...
Problem is i am the boss....i guess i should set a good example of how to tuck tail and run for the rest of the team.
Well then even easier... how the hell would they know! Enjoy the rest of your day off! :D

How are your drifting skillz? :hifive:

Just got a package delivered. The poor guy was soaked as was my package in the few feet he walked from his truck to my door. Almost felt like I should give him a thank you tip he was so soaked.

drive to work wasn't too bad (sonoma-napa). coming home, i had some detours due to flooding. not terrible but i know there were much worse conditions and flooding nearby.

edit: also- i lived in the mountains for 10 years commuting over vail pass....that was much worse, just didn't have to deal with the flooding

Rarely see solicitors here and yet there is one guy going door to door with some clip board soaking wet. I guess he figures people are more likely to open the door to someone who is going through all this trouble. :D

I just flew out to Raleigh but have branches in Sacramento, Folsom and Roseville that I have to be concerned about.

I've been hearing anything from 7 to 10 inches of rain and 50+ mph winds...is that accurate?

My branches up in Portland and Lake Oswego have had to close early because of rain and power outage.

It hasn't let up for a second all today. Constant pouring down and it's in sheets now. Feels like the good ole days in Seattle right about now... <_<

Just chatted with a friend out in that area. He lives in Orangevale. Says they've had about a couple inches of rain and the wind wasn't that bad so it sounds like you've lucked out in those areas of biz. The storm is really hammering from the coast from N. CA down the coast like to Santa Cruz area and in to the SF Bay area and of course the mountains- not bad more inland from there.

Cool...thanks.

Has the worst of it passed or is it still to come?

The worst is over as the storm here is slated to move toward LA and into Phoenix area tomorrow however there is still a chance of storm all over, including your area- just not as intense as today. In the bay area and all is a different story at the moment. It should taper off some between 10pm and 7 am here.

10PM: Friend from Orangevale is saying it's light rain out there now and he can't hear it from inside. It's pourring here like mad.

Started raining in my part of LA 10 minutes ago. Heavy winds and it's coming down hard. This is basically like an El Nino type storm.

The storm made my commute home yesterday a whole lot shorter....about 10-15 minutes (880 north from San Jose).

Raining hard again today but not like yesterday. Had a few hours of calm overnight but it's on again. Weekend is looking good before we get hit again on Mon and Tues.

Food workers strike is still on at SFO so if you are going through there, bring your own food and drink.
