Nanu-Nanu! What About Manu? (1 Viewer)

Is this just a fluke or has a new TE target come into the picture? He seems to have a steadily increasing amount of receptions accumulated, especially in Week 7 (4 rec. 23 yds. + 1TD - not to mention last week with 2 TDs but only 2 receptions, although efficient in that instance).

"Manumaleuna" for San Diego that is...

He had two TDs last week. The first one was not a fluke.

Manu will always be on the field in goal line situations because he's a great blocker. Anyone on the field in goal line situations can catch a TD. Manu might catch another TD or two before the season is done. But I wouldn't start him as a fantasy player unless I were extremely desperate.

Agree. Manu is a nice blocker and actually not a bad receiver, but I think he gets a few looks only when Gates/LT/WR1-3 are all covered (which is a rare occurrence!!)

I was one of the few, if not only, person to make note of Manu and the impact it would have on Gates this season.

Manu has emerged as Rivers' go to guy because he catches the ball (92% target/recept ratio), where as Gates is far less reliable (60% :yucky: ).

Also, Manu is reaping huge rewards with each catch, getting in the end zone an astonishing 3 times on 12 targets. Comparatively, the slower, less athletic Gates has only scored four times despite being targeted 65 times.

The Chargers knew they needed a threat at TE, and it appears as if Rivers has finally figured out how to get the ball to the guy who can make plays, so look for big numbers from Manu the rest of the way.

This may be fishing in the FFA, but it's considered pissing over here in the Shark Pool.

Link? I know you have "I hate Gates" threads all over the board, but in all of them you blame the loss of Gates' production on Rivers being an incredibly bad QB. (By the way, how is that prediction working out for ya?)

Lost in all this shuffle is the impact of Manumaleuna. He'll eat into Gates' numbers quite a bit this year, they have Krause, as well.

Makes a lot of sense to look off Gates and go to the TE nobody is worried about....bad for Gates' owners, but good for the Chargers offense.
By the way, how are the Green Wave doing this year? Is McKissick still coaching?

Yes, he is still coaching and they are still winning. They had an undefeated regular season, won their first playoff game, are nationally ranked, and have the best WR prospect in the nation (AJ Green).

AJ Green, huh? He should follow Will Korn's footsteps and head up to Clemson, those two could play pitch and catch for years!
