NBA 2013-2014 BTTF II - Yo Mama is Champ, Abe sets new low mark (1 Viewer)

Stats can tell you anything. But you know what? Games aren't played by stats. They aren't played by numbers or computers. They're played by real men with heart and hustle and grittiness and want-it-ability. You can have your stats. I'll take guys like MKG who leave it all out on the floor every time they lace 'em up. Someday maybe you'll figure that out when you move out of your mom's basement.No. 16 is going to yell at us for spotlighting, but here is the comparison last year.MKG is already ten times better than Corey Brewer.MKG very much reminded me of another skinny SF that was drafted about 6 years ago that had a great reputation for being a high motor defender who was a monster in transition with his athleticism but lacked the handle or jumpshot to excel at the next level. Hopefully MKG can figure it out quicker than that player, but I think that if people expect him to develop into even a passable jump shooter, they will be disappointed. The worst thing that could have happened for MKG is the Bobcats bringing in Jefferson to slow the offense down. The other 4 starters are built to get up and down the court, and Jefferson is going to be walking back and forth.I agree that 35 is their upside, and that factors in the numerous teams in the east tanking. That said, if mkg develops in to anything remotely useful and Zeller is solid (I think he will be) they will not be an easy win like they've been for a while. And they should have cap space the next couple years to add greedy guys who just want to get paid.4 of their 5 starters are picked plus one backup. Their 5th starter and one more backup will be picked sometime in the next two or three rounds and then we might not see the 8th man on their roster picked until the teen rounds. I could see them getting near 35 wins, but they'll probably end up in the 28-30 range. Just good enough to miss out on all the super studs coming out in the draft next year. Nice job Jordan.
ETA: Kevin Pelton has their reserves as a total of one win over replacement. So basically, you could replace their 6-12 guys with 7 guys straight out of the D-League and they would only lose 1 win on their record. Or, you could replace their 7-12 guys with D-Leaguers and improve.
MKG would shine in Denver's system.

A little more one-dimensional than I generally prefer, but he really stands out at the moment as a high efficiency scorer. Good complement to a team with Blake because of his moderate usage and high 3 pt accuracy.

Yeah, that's what I've read too. He has a lot of tools and I think he'll eventually be getting a lot of minutes...although he might getting forced into action too early with the health of some of these other bigs.
I like him as a backup with upside to Thad Young, Kevin Love and Derrick Favors.

After reading a lot of articles on Hickson today, it's safe to say you're not the only Nuggets follower who feels that way. And I agree that he doesn't make much basketball sense for them.
He's a nice sim fish though if he gets the minutes.

I haven't watched any preseason, but I assume you are speaking more towards his offensive development. Mcgee is nimble and has such soft hands that I think his offensive game is fine and, other than the fact that he doesn't know how to pass the ball, is definitely a net positive for the team. His defense is what drives me crazy. Alas, this would be only a small problem if Faried, Hickson and the rest of the bigs were good enough to make up for it, but they are nearly as clueless as McGee is.

He showed a turnaround jumper to go with his hook shot in the post which looked decent. On D, he definitely is still a sucker for the up fake and still doesn't get great position sometimes on the block and on rebounds. But he really looked like he was focused and not getting distracted like he usually does with ancillary things.

Figured he wasn't making it to me but I found it conical that he was still on the board. He's either getting thirty minutes for Houston or he's getting traded somewhere. One note - the sim last year had his defense at 30 which makes no sense; he is one of the three best big man defenders in the league.
