NBA BTTF III - Draft Over! War of attrition underway... (1 Viewer)

Korver has been a disappointment...his low usage % must be killing his production, because he's below expectations across the board.

Blake Griffin is sitting out tonight's game for rest.

oof 1-8, I thought my team would at least be middling

Can't stop anyone on D and just can't score enough to make up for it <_<

Was out the last week or so. Just checked my team and found I'm 4-9, and on the coach's office screen all five of my starters are marked in red as "inactive or injured."

I have them playing at the recommended minutes/ their season averages. What did I do wrong? Can I fix it?

Just have to rest them or decrease minutes until they recover.

I noticed I started losing a lot of games so I checked my team and the big men were in high 70s/low 80s. I had set my minutes to the recommended, but I think some games they just go over due to randomness.

Yeah, I put the overworked starters on "rest" for a game, then completely forgot about it, and now I've lost ten straight. But at least I can put my starters back in now!

Yeah, I'm having to work a lot harder this time. I ended up using a lot of low minutes guys in piecing together my rotation, and due to randomness or whatever they keep going way over and I have to mix and match rest time. Haven't ha to do that before so it's a totally different experience and I hate it because paying attention to stuff is hard.

There is that sweet JR Smith-like end of game AI. Up 2 after a rebound with 25 seconds left, slapdash doesn't foul, but Derrick Rose decides to take a jump shot with 8 seconds left. Enes Kanter makes a runner as time expires and I go on to lose in OT. Awesome.

Ajinca just had a game where, in 12 minutes, he went 7/7 for 17 points and 9 rebounds. This AI is so random.

so I'm up 9 with a minute left and have the ball yet my team forces quick shots each time down the court to lose in double OT to the last place team in my division. that's some great AI

I should've scheduled Groovus's team more.

Also the fact that I'd make the playoffs if the season ended today should be embarrassing to all the teams below me.

Very proud of my guys for making the playoffs. Landry asked for a trade a few times, but I was always able to appease him by giving him some extra minutes.

in the standings area, the number on the left in greater than the number on the right side for me.....what does this mean, its always the other way around?

People ##### when a pick isn't made after a couple of hours. Not sure how people will feel if it takes 1 week for a player to sell.

We could auction off the first 120 players (24 teams x 5 players) and then draft the remainder.

The obvious first problem with a slow auction is finding a free site that can handle it. It's especially difficult with a niche fantasy sport like hoops. We could probably make something work with some kind of blind email-based bidding process with multiple players in the chamber concurrently for a 24 hour bidding cycle. It would probably end up being a :tfp: but it's a low cost league based around a hopelessly flawed sim engine so I'm in.

I think we could pull it off in a thread.

Have 20 or so players "on the board" at one time, open bidding, each bid on a player resets the clock. If a player goes however long without a bid (24 hours, 12 hours, w/e), the person with the highest bid gets him and nominates the next player. Could do that for until everyone has 5 players (or 7 or 10 or w/e), and then draft the rest.

I agree with Eephus, would be a very fun :tfp:

Let's not because I crush the draft every year.

I used to run an auction style league via WIS that worked via blind bidding. I can modify it to work here.

Assign every player a position (use the previous season assignment).

Each team has $340 to spend ($20 per player average). Submit 17 bids in one DM as follows:

3 for each position plus two rookie/ unlisted previous season bids.

Rank the bids in order from highest to lowest to create six separate draft orders (PG, SG, SF, PF, C, Rookie). The six drafts can then occur concurrently.

I can create a more detailed description, including an auction submission form if there is enough interest...
