Washington has a lot of trash they could send Lakers way for Kobe and Davis. Perhaps give the Lakers a #1 down the road. Release tank mode.

It would be interesting to see how Zach Randolph reacts after one of Kobe's 8-25 nights, after a night of constant having to give Kobe defense help.

Kobe has made rumblings before. In the prime of his career. I'd be more surprised if he's just willing to ride it out on one of the worst teams in the league the next two seasons.

No NBA player has ever come back from an Achilles to anything but a shadow of his former self. So I guess a tibia's better in that regard.

Orlando's got a looooong way to go. NO's three-man rotation of Asik/Anderson/Davis at the big spots is really good (they all played together only briefly), but their backcourt depth is pretty gross. Jimmer and Austin Rivers? Yikes.
I dunno, I wouldn't get too excited.

I should amend: This is what Buss The Younger being in control looks like, giving Kobe that ridiculous extension is just one result of that. So is having Byron Scott as your head coach. So is having Jeremy Lin and Carlos Boozer (and Nick Young?) as real, actual NBA starters. So is having a team that plays almost zero defense.
Dwight Howard is childish and does appear to be a giant baby at times, but he left a lot of money on the table to get out of LA. That doesn't happen often. I'm not saying it's all on Bryant, but they've done a lousy job of keeping or getting anyone that's worth half a ####.
I didn't think Randle's game would translate that well tbh, but I guess it'll be awhile until we find out if I'm right or not.
