*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (5 Viewers)

I'm starting to believe that Den has no interest in trading Melo by the way they are negotiating with NJ and NY by keep increasing their asking price. I think they are going to force Melo to either sign extension with them or tell him go ahead and test FA. Melo is all about the money and will cave and resign with Den.

No win situation.Melo will be getting paid and then just turn it in a la Vince Carter, Stephen Jackson, etc. Once a player wants to leave you let them go. Not every situatation turns out like Kobe and the Lakers.

Is a mailed in Melo better than a happy Gallinari? Melo mailed it in from the first game of the year, and hes still been a top 10-15ish player this year.I'd be very surprised if he is a Nuggets before their next game.

Actually want Melo to go to NJ and stink there. He is honestly as dumb as they come, if you want to go to NY why the F you making them lose all the whole team? if you would have told Denver its NY or nothing and I am leaving at FA they would have accepted a lesser offer then currently on table

I hope NY calls Den and Melo's bluff and tell them Knicks are out of trading for him. Force Melo to make a decision of what really matters to him.

I think DOlan will get drunk tonight and concede to including Felton, Danillo, and Fields along with two firsts (and curry, presumably, to make the salaries work) thus giving New York a starting five of Melo, Billups, Amare and 2 guys from the pickup game down the street.

Scratch signing Lebron and trading for Melo. Next big chase is signing D-Will.

A person with knowledge of the conversations told CBSSports.com on Saturday that Jazz point guard Deron Williams began informing close associates after last season that if Stoudemire wound up in New York, Williams would follow him there as a free agent in 2012.

Gotta love being a Knicks fan.

I saw that this morning.... Williams and Amare would run the nastiest pick and roll since Malone and Stockton.

I seem to remember this man named Steve Nash playing with Amare.

You have to take Woj articles with a grain of salt.I have always wondered if Thomas is popular with Dolan because he's willing to be Dolan's Yes man. Dolan has a vision (for example, wanting Melo NOW) and Thomas is more than willing to execute it.
Thomas is like a child out there, always chasing name players regardless of how it affects team and cap. He got Marbury, Francis and destroyed our team for 5 years. Now when Walsh fixes Isiah's mess, DOlan is really this dumb to want to bring back Isiah and force out Walsh?Shocks me to think Dolan is this shrewd business man making billions when he cant understand a simple trade where he has all the leverage. If Isiah is back with team, i dont care who they trade for, I would totally become a fan of Brooklyn Nets in 2012

So now you are with me and Kiddnets, and you want Melo in NJ?!?!?!?!?

na, just frustrated Isiah has the galls to be giving input after all he did to wreck franchise. Its sickening how these billionaires have a knack for trusting bad people or foolish ones. All Knicks had to do was offer Chandler, Gallo, Curry and a first without swapping in Felton or with Felton and without Gallo and Denver would have blinked at last second and accepted deal.

The Nets were just being used all along to up Knicks ante. Walsh saw that, Dolan didn't.

So upset how Denver rookie GM is playing us like an absolute fiddle. But Carmelo being a selfish me first person doesn't care about gutting the team, he wants his money and NY. If Knicks had kept Gallo, then Gallo and Fields and whoever we draft in 1st round next year could have gone towards a Deron Williams S & T next year possibly.

Is Kiddnets in favor of trading Harris, Favors, Murphy and 4 1st rd picks for Melo? I'm not in favor of Knicks trading for him if it costs Felton, Chandler, Gallo, AR and Fields/Mozgov.

Being that Melo met with Russian MC, Jay-Z, King and whoever their CEO is, I think Melo is really considering NJ. Clearly he prefers the Knicks, but it looks like he is at least considering the Nets. And is it suddenly a surprise that Melo doesn't care about winning and all he wants is his money and more fame? If he wanted to win, he would have stuck it out in Denver and they would have made a deal for a All-Star grade SG or PF to make a run in the playoffs over the next couple years just like they tried with Billups and Iverson. Denver was committed to winning before Melo decided he wanted NY, and now when its clear he wants out they are trying to cut costs.

If i was a real Nets fan no way in hell do i want that deal. Nets will suck this year and the year after but with proper drafting they will be back. Next years first rounder will be high, the 2012 one from the Warriors will be protected until 7 but Warriors will be at about the 10 spot so Nets should get it. Thats 3 top 10ish picks in 2 years. That could really get the Nets back especially if Favors blossoms next year.

With Melo Nets have no future, no cap space in 2012 even to get another star and just a 35-40 win team until Melo leaves them in 4 years and they start from scratch

Sources all say that Melo was forced into the meeting with Nets on the condition he met with Dolan he had to also hear out Nets. So he went to meeting being forced and did not give nets impression he was gonna sign with them

Melo has left open the possibility of signing with the Nets for a reason. He wants his money and strongly prefers the Knicks, but the Nets are the last resort for Melo. It boils down to money and East Coast location. I will wish him well with the Nets and all the losing that will follow Melo for the next 4 yrs.

Once again, that Outlaw contract was one of the worst contracts I've ever seen. They were bidding against themselves, gave him a long contract, and at best was a 6th man and combo forward. Instead of using him off the bench as a combo forward, they've played him almost strictly at SF as a starter. The Nets should have played this offseason (after they missed out on anybody that was any good) like the Knicks have for the last few years and given out short contracts. It baffles me that these execs can make millions of dollars and mismanage a multi multi multi million dollar organization in the way some of these guys do.

Now with the news of Deron and Dwight Howard wanting to play for Knick the future roster should look something like this

PG- CP3

SG- Deron

SF- Melo

PF- Amare

C- Dwight

Timschocet would probably bet that this team wins 83 games

I think the Nets are giving up way too much..id rather not do the deal and build around lopez/favors and use picks/cap room ourselves...i understand why proky wants to do it though...nets completely irrelevant now....not a good thing when moving into a new arena. Either way ill live with it...how much worse can it get? Do like watching ny squirm though

TNT will be airing a show in which 6 of the TNT analysts do a Fantasy draft picking from the all time greats. I know this was done awhile ago on here, wanted to see if anyone was interested in doing another. If you are interested let me know on here and if there is enough, I will start a thread.
bump
one more bump, thread started. If you are not interested in drafting, we need judges too.

The Nuggs are playing NJ and NY like a fiddle. Sounds like Denver could land Mozgov, Chandler, Felton, Gallo, a 1st and Brewer (with Randolph and Curry going to Minn) for Melo, Billups, Williams, Balkman/Carter then turn around and trade Mozgov and Chandler/Felton/Gallo for two first rounders from NJ (not sure what salaries Den would get in return - possibly Harris).

Kudos to the Denver management if that goes down.

This thread reminds me of the Hines Ward thread in the Shark Pool. All the Steelers/Lakers fans on one side, everyone else rationally explaining the other side, then getting frustrated and making fun of them instead.

I think the Nets and Denver is leaking this too make Knicks get pissed and blink - then MElo goes to NJ and they get the pkg they want.....I actually dont mind this as a back up plan though - depending on what picks are involved - hopefully LA and Houston picks. Interesting chess match to say the least

Kev, I would think of all people that you would be against this Melo trade. Under this scenario Eddy Curry becomes a Timberwolves and not a Nuggets. Oh I suppose the Nuggets could sign the fat one once he is bought out by Minny, but that is a huge risk that they get outbid.

We all got to make sacrifices... maybe I'll just adopt Minnesota as my new favorite team from the very-north-midwest.

All This talk about the Kings moving to Anaheim is interesting.

- Not sure the Lakers / Clippers would like this very much

- 3 teams in the same market from the same division

- Is this a place holder until Stern lets the Maloofs move the team to Vegas?

- Do the Kings build any kind of a fan base in So Cal?

I'm little surprised this is getting this close to happening. Has been talked about for years that the Kings or another team would move to Anaheim but I never really thought it would work out. Already crowded with Laker fans and they are switching teams because they are closer to Anaheim.
