Although the fact that he was tweeting his December stats as some sort of weird protest (and not mentioning he only shot 41% while posting them and that the Wiz went 3-11 during the month) doesn't bode well for him. My guess is that it's nothing more than Wittman finding a rotation that worked and it wasn't the one that included him. At this point any return at all for him is OK by me. I'm the last guy to fall back on announcer cliches, but I feel like Nene brings some veteran presence and tricks and whatnot that don't necessarily show up on the stat sheets. Or at least not the traditional ones; I think the plus-minus numbers show how much better the Wiz are with him on the floor. He definitely could be a little better on the scoring side, though. You'd like to see a guy like that shooting around 55% instead of 49%.By the way, when you check the five man +/- numbers the reason for benching Crawford becomes obvious.

Disgusting display of hero ball. I think it had little to do with Toronto and a lot to do with Gay. The rest of the team was forcing the ball to Anderson when they got a touch... Gay? Not so much. Gay has been fairly underwhelming in Toronto. A couple game winners are covering up his horribly inefficient shooting.

Looking at his career numbers Nene never has been a great scorer and I'm not really asking for that but I did expect him to be a 16/10 guy shooting in the high 50% range on this team but may be asking too much given his history.No doubt they are a much better team with him on the floor and that is very clear.Crawford was the hero guy so that stat doesn't surprise me in the least.His defending is terrible and shot selection tends to be very bad but with a team needing a spark off the bench I thought he fit that need right now for them.Nothing special and a role player at best so no biggie either way.Was just wondering if him and Witt had it out or not since Witt has loved to crack the whip on certain guys(Singleton and Vesely a lot).

He has the 2nd highest Defensive Win Shares on the team behind Omer. I don't watch a lot of Rocket basketball either, but the stats sure paint a different picture than what all of you guys in here are saying about him.

Mark Stein doesn't understand how they work either...You can't trade exceptions, they are created. The grizz included some no name prospect they drafted at some point. Teams have to include something in the trade, can't just take things.The exception will be for whatever Pittmans salary is, so its worthless.

Well, that's kind of the deal with inconsistency. There's always moments when you're playing well. The problem is what happens you're not.

I don't catch a lot of Rockets basketball so I've only got his numbers at my disposal. So with that limitation in mind ... his February numbers have been pretty solid so far. But his January numbers are hideous, cover-your-eyes awful, so you have to wonder if the February numbers are variance (only 8 games) rather than progress. But maybe not, maybe this is the start of something good, or at least passable.

Yeah, it looks like it's been since about 1/25 or so that he's really stepped it up. He was a steal machine in January though - kind of surprised that he's 4th in the league in that stat at this point. Especially consider how horrible everyone's suggesting he is on D.

He plays a lot of minutes on the perimeter for an up-tempo team. It would be hard not to accumulate steals in that scenario. Harden's among the league leaders too, and nobody mistakes him for a defensive wiz.

People will laugh, but Jermaine O'neal's been playing quite well lately for the Suns. Probably says more about the state of Gortat, but O'neal has thoroghly outplayed him as of late.I think Jermaine can/will help out someone for 15-20+ minutes a game. Not knowing the cap ramifications, I'm suprised the Suns can't get a player or late pick for him.

Steals != Good D

No, but it certainly is a positive element for him there. He's also tied for 5th best D Rating on the team, as far as guys getting piles of minutes he's 2nd behind Omer. He has the 2nd highest Defensive Win Shares on the team behind Omer. I don't watch a lot of Rocket basketball either, but the stats sure paint a different picture than what all of you guys in here are saying about him.

Defensive stats without some point of reference are worthless. I can tell you that the reason his advanced d stats look good is because they are really team stats and he plays most of the time with Asik who is a very good defender and rim protector so that makes Lin's Drtg and dws look good. He's slow laterally and doesn't seem to try very hard defensively, he gets absolutely destroyed against quick pgs or strong pgs. Really there aren't many guards he can defend because he's both slow and weak. Watch a rockets game then try to defend his play, don't use some horrible defensive stat to prove a point.

Worst starting PG. I didn't make that comment, but outside of possibly 3 or 4 other pgs, its probably true.

Blazers acquired PG Eric Maynor from the Thunder via trade.Maynor was the No. 3 point guard in Oklahoma City behind Russell Westbrook and Reggie Jackson. In Portland, he'll slide in as Damian Lillard's direct backup. But considering Lillard averages 38.5 minutes a night, there won't be a ton of opportunity. The Blazers gave up a draft pick in the deal.

Well, he's an upgrade from Nolan Smith... I don't remember a worse bench in the NBA than the Blazers have in recent memory. And that includes the teams with horrible records in the past couple years.

I wouldn't necessarily say irrational. I mean, he's definitely in the bottom third. But I think people are more fired up about it because of the hype. You're not gonna get a passionate message board debate about the relative merits of Jeff Teague. Nobody cares because there's no myth to bust.

You could probably make an argument for a couple starters that he is better than but the difference would be negligible. I'll retract my statement of him being the worst starting PG and change it to being 'one of the worst' if it'll make you happy. Of course, there are probably a handful of backups out there who are much better than him (off the top of my head: Bayless, Bledsoe, Billups, Jack).
