*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (12 Viewers)

Play KG at the 4 and start Tyson Chandler while sliding Melo and Paul Pierce to the 2 and 3....

That team could run with the Heat adding the defensive ability to protect the rim and allows Garnett to play the foul line and pass to the shooters .

The bench is ridiculous obviously , still would be a great series and I'm still not sure they would beat the Heat.

Denver smashes NY by 23 and the game wasn't even that close. Denver just crushed them from start to finish.

Of course this team isn't named Miami, so no one notices it is the 10th win in a row for Denver.
I knew there was no way Knicks were winning in Denver. Even with a health stoudemire and Melo they win 3/10 at best. Denver has the best homecourt advantage in the NBA. With that being said Nuggets are NOT championship contenders thats left up to Heat, Thunder, Spurs, and possibly Clippers. 10 wins in a row does not equal 20
Denver owns the season series against OKC, LAC, Memphis, Golden State, Houston, and Utah and they are tied 1-1 with San Antonio. How can you say that they aren't contenders when they have outplayed every team in the conference so far this year other than the Spurs?
I don't agree that they aren't contenders, but one issue is that they're kind of like the Bulls teams a couple of years ago in that their depth seems to be a key component to their success here in the regular season. That advantage diminishes in the playoffs though.

Ridiculously ticky-tack foul on Grant Hill. Refs getting paid by the whistle tonight.
They've been strictly calling moving screens all night. At least they've been consistent.
I get the spirit of it, but use common sense. He's 75' from the basket and he barely breathed on the guy.
In a vacuum, I agree, but they've been getting screeners for moving even a little bit all night, and Hill moved. This isn't an easy game to ref so I don't blame them for policing some basics. In related news, grant hill having a very forgettable last game of his career.

Denver Nuggets forward Andre Iguodala is expected to opt out of the final year of his contract, forgoing $16 million in salary he would be owed next season, reports the Denver Post.If Iguodala opts out he will be an unrestricted free agent, and the $16 million salary for next season is a player option. He made just under $15 million in the 2012-13 season.
That was expected. I'm hoping he is game for a 3 yr $36M contract or maybe something like 5/$50M.
Well he is an idiot if he signs one of those contracts after opting out. Not sure why he is opting out when he is only 29 years old and probably won't be a max guy again. I guess he thinks he can get a near max deal for 4-6 years.

But take your deals, he could have just played this year out at 16. Then you are saying he'd only want a 2 year 20 mill contract at 30 years old? Or a 4 year 34 million? So I'd expect him to sign for something in the 13-15 million range for 3-5 years. He ain't worth it but someone will give it to him. He is just one of those guys who will always be on mediocre teams like a Joe Johnson because they are good enough to command a lot of money but aren't good enough when you consider he makes similar money to Rose or Manu.

What happens when you load the entire clippers team into a Jacuzzi at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis last night? Brotherly Love.

So yah..... Chris Paul is a #####... Blake griffin is soft..... Bring on the mother####ing thunder. Yes I'm drunk... Down at blue monkey by the arena... Lots of folks here singing "nana.. Goodbye"

Opt out is absolutely the right move for Iguodala. Weak FA group (Dwight/Paul going nowhere IMO) and still under 30. May not get the max, but should get $15+mil/yr.

He can only get a 5 year deal from Denver, no sign and trade or any other means for him to get that anywhere else. Deals for 6 years no longer exist. Like Craig said, guys of his talent usually end up on bad teams because they chase the money to some team that needs to spend their free cap space on a player that is tempting for the money. If Iguodala wants to play for a good team, Denver is the right choice but he is going to have to take a bit of a discount to play here. Spending $15M a year on him on a 4 or 5 year deal will not happen in Denver.

Well the fact he is opting out seems to indicate he just cares about money at this point and not winning. And if he cares about going to a good team, there seem to be better teams he could go to. Denver might be a little bit of both in terms of paying him well and providing a winning team but if he wants to get out of the first round and go to a title contender, Denver ain't it.

@ryenarussilloHow can the NBA feel good about Joey Crawford? He makes it so personal, stares down players. Take your Philly routine to the NBADL.

@GottliebShowJoey Crawford was joke tonight- complete abuse of power by a marginal official who is where he is because of tenure
@LBSportsReferee Joey Crawford ejects Chris Paul, Zach Randolph. CP3's brother says "fix was on" at end of game
@HerringWSJ"Joey don't play, so he tossed me." -- Zach Randolph, on official Joey Crawford.

When you know the ref's names, that usually means it is time to hang it up b/c they make a spectacle out of themselves. Joey Crawford and Joe West and to a lesser extent, Ed Hochuli have all made the game more about them.

Are you old enough to remember AL umpire Ron Luciano? He was the first "LOOK AT ME!!!" official I recall. He was a boob.

As an umpire he was known for his flamboyant calls, particularly his habit of "shooting out" players. "My personal record is 16 shots," he wrote. "Bill Haller counted them."One night Luciano gave an "out" sign at home plate by pumping his right hand a dozen times. "I was so carried away that I never saw the ball rolling to the backstop," he later said. "Fortunately, someone pointed to the loose ball and I changed my call."In addition to making theatrical events of routine outs, he was considered an "individualist" who played fast and loose with the league's rules of conduct. For example, rather than working from behind second base as mandated by the American League, he would frequently stand between the pitcher and the base, National League-style. He would routinely converse with players during between-inning breaks and even during play, a practice strictly forbidden by the league. In 1973 during spring training, he switched positions with Buddy Bell, playing a portion of an inning at third base while Bell umpired. (Both were reprimanded by the league.)

Crawford was a little out of control last night, as usual, but in his limited defense that game needed some tough refereeing. Chris Paul's last T came on a cheap shot to Gasol and Z-Bo had just got finished almost choking Blake griffin out.

Espn is such a joke. They talk the last 2 days about the celtics and Knicks like last night was game 7 and were making a huge deal that there were 4 game 6s last night. While failing to mention that the thunder were in the same scenario as the Knicks. I'm glad there's no game 7s from last night so we don't have to hear more manufactured stories today.

Spurs in 6.

When Jack walks this summer, it'll be good to keep in mind that the Warriors needlessly traded for an extra year of washed-up SF when they flipped Jackson for Jefferson.

That was an awful trade at the time, Jackson is/was the better player, he was getting paid less per year plus his contract was a year shorter. One of the less sensible trades I can remember.

They did get Ezeli in that through the draft pick and in briefly watching them, he seems like he could be serviceable going forward.

They also got the Spurs 1st round pick last year which turned out to be Ezeli. I'd say it was worth it.

He dates me by a bit but I believe it was him in some of the footage with Earl Weaver. They seemed like they were fun when you put the two of them on a field.

Just saw a video on FB from last nights game in Memphis where they got the crowd worked up by playing "whoop that trick" from hustle and flow (shot here)

Trick was, they changed the words to "whoop that clip".... Whole place was in a frenzy with towels spinning and whole audience in unison. Was pretty cool to see IMO. :towelwave:

:banned: off to musicfest for some blind Mississippi Morris and black keys. :banned:

ETA: :lmao: @ DJ qualls in that clip.

You don't need to take on a bad contract to get the last pick in the first round, it could've been had much more easily. A guaranteed contract for the 30th player off the board is pretty unappetizing.

The Warriors have always done really well with late picks, including Ezeli. But they have no way of knowing they're going to get a good guy there.

Exactly, they probably could have bought the pick for $2-3M.

Royce White will likely go down as the worst draft pick of all time for the Rockets. He is the gift that keeps giving. His recent tweets to Durant and Thunder "And... that's why you play the games. That @okcthunder team just looked shook. They're looking shaky baby."White followed with another tweet to Durant."@KDTrey5... Y'all are looking SHAAAKYY BAAABYY."No, seriously! all jokes aside @KDTrey5 is a beast, but with all due respect last 2 games they've been looking #SHAAAKYY... All due respect! At least he added all due respect in his last tweet, what an embarrassment.
"You know what else is shaky? Turbulence."
Have I been given sufficient accolades for this?
