*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (9 Viewers)

I just want to go on a limb and say that if James ends up with Wade and Bosh that team will kick the snot out of the league as long as they can walk and chew gum.

By the way, has anyone mentioned that the Boozer to Chicago deal is actually going to be a sign and trade in which the Bulls get Boozer and a conditional 2nd, with the Jazz getting a 13 million dollar trade exception?
Wow great move by the Jazz. Not sure why the Bulls would agree to it other than to keep good rapport in future trade talks. 13 million dollar trade exception > conditional 2nd rounder, IMO.
Why not? Jazz are in the West and they get a pick.

If those three stay healthy and have any bench at all, the 72-10 record is in jeopardy. No shtick. If they get 82-game seasons out of those three, I think they could go 73-9.
:thumbup:And I'd probably struggle to predict the 9 losses (knowing full well they'd end up losing inexplicably to bottom feeders a couple of times - it always happens). At worst they'd split with the other top teams - Orlando, Boston, L.A., Chicago. After that who would they lose to? Maybe Dallas? OKC? Denver?I don't have the FA spreadsheet handy, but just for fun someone should just cut and paste the bottom 9 or 10 guys onto the Heat roster and see what it'd look like.

The Bulls are competing with the entire league for one NBA championship. Giving the Jazz a 13 million dollar trade exception puts players like Monta Ellis, Igoudala, Manu, Deng, Prince, Garnger, Gerald Wallace, and Biedrins within reach.

Would you trade any of those players straight up for a 2nd rounder?

I sure hope its Clevland or the Knicks...but...

Yahoo sports just posted a report that... according to US Weekly, LeBron James has rented six cabanas at the W Hotel South Beach this weekend to celebrate his team decision, two sources confirm to UsMagazine.com.

That adds more fuel to the fire that James, 25, will announce he's joining the Miami Heat Thursday night, as several insiders told ESPN this morning.

I dont blame him for wanting to play in South Beach...but I think its going to hurt his image more than help.

You might want to remove Deng from your scenario - think about it.I don't see the Jazz challenging for a championship this year even if they added one of those guys.

Up to this very moment I thought Miami was a lock. But this leak makes me think he's just toying with everyone. I have it back to Cleveland 75%, but praying hard for Miami.

I agree but you still are giving the Jazz an avenue to improve their team that otherwise would not exist without your cooperation.

I agree. Why not? I can't believe some people are actually arguing LeBron would have a better shot at a championship with the Bulls. Sure, he'd have a good shot with them and I actually predicted he'd go there. But better than going with Wade and Bosh? Are you kidding me?

Agreement in place for Warriors to acquire Lee....

I hate how I actually have to care where LBJ signs now. If LBJ denies NYK then the Dubs get Lee.

Without Vlad Rad's expiring deal included I'm feeling a bit better with this trade, but I would still rather the Warriors hold off on the deal.

In the end the Warriors get the best player in the deal RIGHT NOW.... but there's a chance Randolph could surpass him (I'll give it 40% that Randolph has a better career than Lee - dude is just too immature and doesn't take to coaching - example: last season he left a Dubs home game early so he could go clubbing out in the City).
Turiaf is my boy. Wish W's could have kept him. ;)

The argument is that the depth of the Bulls will be far superior than that of the Heat. Nobody (at least I hope) is arguing that Boozer/Rose > Bosh/Wade. But if LeBron doesn't go to Miami, most everyone thinks that the Bulls > Heat.

That's kind of the nature of trading isn't it? So your real question is, what did the Bulls get out of it? Besides the 2nd round pick, maybe they'll negotiate a bigger deal with Boozer, maybe Boozer just wanted to leave the Jazz with something in appreciation of his time there ( :lmao: ).

Another fun rumor:

From Jalen Rose: "Sources tell me that Jay-Z just purchased 2 courtside tickets to the Miami Heat home games this season..(hmmm)"
I should have thought of this after the conference realignment cluster####. We should have had a contest here to see what we could have floated into the Twitter/FB/blogosphere and seen who among us could get cited as a "source" for an NBA press member's breaking news story.
Don't sweat it FBF, I quote you as a source all the time. Of course I don't have a twitter account. Or anything remotely like a media job. Usually I'm just talking to myself when I cite you actually...

Why would the Bulls care if Danny Granger, for example, plays for Utah or Indiana?

:lmao: Carlos Boozer, the consummate gentleman.

I think there are other aspects to the argument. That Rose and Noah would be more comfortable being second bananas than Wade and Bosh. I don't buy it with Rose. That Rose and Noah deliver more complimentary talents by having a ball handler and a rebounder/defender. Again, I'm not sure I buy it much.

Assuming LeBron doesn't go to the Clips, sure seems like there's been a talent drain on the western conference here. OKC clearly the 2nd best team in the west now? Dallas? Denver?

Just figure you'd want to prevent other teams from getting better also. They could sign Boozer without helping the Jazz get better. I guess the Bulls thought a 2nd rounder was worth it.... I don't. Oh well.

Bobcat you said you were as confident as you have ever been that LBJ was coming back to Cleveland on Tuesday. Has that feeling changed or are you still confident? How is everyone in Cleveland acting? nervous? excited?

I thought it was Dallas toward the end of last year and I was really surprised when the Spurs beat them. I still think Dallas is avery good team.Denver is very good too but it's like there's something mentally missing there...

I realize no one other then goggins will agree, but houston was.500 last season without their best player. If two returns and patterson is as pro ready as he should be, they wil be very good.

They're an interesting team for sure. I guess the Bobcats are trying to sign Scola, but the Rockets owner has "vowed" to keep Scola in town. They need a consistent perimeter performer (along with a full season from Yao).

We're still pretty early in the offseason so it's hard to tell, but I agree OKC is in a good position to make a move up to the #2 seed. All of their core players still have room to improve. Portland could get a bit frisky.

SAS could make one last run if they get Tiago Splitter into the States.

I think we will have a lot of midseason roster movement, too. With the lockout coming and the cap $2MM higher than expected, teams will have more incentive to make moves. For example, if PHX doesn't come up with anybody to replace Amare, there's no point in keeping Nash. You think POR would try to make a move for Nash in January if PHX puts him on the block?
Perennial teases. They shouldn't have anywhere near as many injuries, but what's going to put them up at the top? Big improvement from Batum?

Martin, budge, and ariza are going to be very good, imo.

CNBC is reporting that contrary to earlier reports, LeBron James is not expected to make his announcement within the first 15 minutes of Thursday's 'The Decision' show.

Not too shocking, and actually makes more sense if he waits until the end of the show. In other LeBron news, Ric Bucher said on Twitter that of the seven insiders he spoke with today (GMs, agents, team officials), four said he's going to Cleveland and the other three said New York. Despite the fact ESPN has been reporting he's likely to go to Miami, not one of Bucher's sources mentioned the Heat. Jul. 8 - 5:59 pm et

Would it be in ESPN's best interest to actually report correct information? It would be like adding spoilers to their own show.

So apparently LeBron, Wade, Bosh, and Paul started talking about playing together during the Olympics. I wonder why nobody said, "hey, I'm going to the Lakers to play with Kobe"

6 years 124 million for Joe Johnson. :goodposting:

"We finally really did it. You maniacs! You blew it up! Damn you. ### #### you all to hell!"

They are scared of Kobe.
Might actually be true in some way. Kobe reminds me of MJ, who would whip your hind side during practice if you weren't busting it. Kobe has that drive that none of those other guys (except maybe Wade) has. They will all have fun taking pictures of each other out of huddle and having their groupies around while Kobe wins yet another title. Unless some really good FA's decide to play for less, if you look at the Heat and Lakers, the Lakers match up well at least I think:D Wade - KobeLeBron - ArtestBosh - GasolC - BynumThe Lakers still have Odom coming off the bench. I know Artest isn't of LeBron's scoring, but that guy can D people up. What other matchup would the Heat have any kind of advantage?

Think about this, no All-Star played for the Rockets last year and OK/Port/SA won only 8 more games. This is also a team that had a major shake up in their roster which led to their brief losing streak. IF (HUGE IF here) Yao can play limited minutes and the players gell another year while they won't be favored in the West they should at least be a playoff team where anything can happen. They have multiple picks which they can parley next year or use. We'll see.

The Heat would get killed on the boards.

Anything can happen tonight but to hold an hour show on where he's going to go, I can't see how it will be anywhere but staying in Cleveland.
