They also still have Mario Chalmers, who can guard PGs and shoot open threes. He's a good fit as the PG who won't really be playing PG. Cheap, too. I think he's a minimum contract. They also still have Michael Beasley. Maybe Beasley gets it together with Miami Thrice in town to take the pressure off of him.

Chalmers is a perfect fit, and I believe he is a very affordable 850,000. He can play D. Wasn't a great 3 point shooter though, last season. But he will be seeing a ton of open looks.Beasley has to go, no question. His best asset is his offense, which is not needed at his salary. He is completely disinterested on defense. I think the biggest issue for the Heat is at center. Vanardo was a monster shot blocker in college, but to expect him to play major minutes is a stretch. He and Pittman should combine for about 15 minutes a game.Lebron just mentioned Joel Anthony, but I think he is unsigned right now.

I'll bet Jason Williams is at least thinking about returning. Seems like he would fit in nicely.

I think he would fit, but they should be focusing on big men and 2s and 3s that can shoot. I have a feeling lebron is going to be the defacto pg a lot of the time.

Randolph is the key acquisition - very athletic big man who could fit well into D'Antoni's system. Needs to commit himself more, but the potential's there to be a fine, fine player. Turiaf's a very high energy player who excels on D, stout shot blocker and gives 100% every time he's on the court. One of those guys you love to have on your team - think Renaldo Balkmon but a lot more talented. Azubuike a decent 2/3 who can shoot the three on occasion, good bench guy.

Washington (CNN) -- A Washington lawyer has filed a lawsuit in federal court, claiming he is the father of basketball star LeBron James.

Leicester Stovell alleges that the athlete and his family have been involved in a cover-up to deny paternity by committing fraud and misrepresentation. He told HLN's "Prime News" on Thursday that he wants "a carefully structured and secure DNA test" to prove he's the NBA all-star's father.

Stovell says he has been trying for three years to establish paternity and is seeking $4 million in damages. An earlier test ruled out the possibility, but he said the test could have been tampered with -- "and there are indications that there was a motivation."

Stovell said he had sex with James' mother, Gloria James, after meeting at a Washington bar while she was visiting from Ohio in 1984. A few months later, she told him she was pregnant, but did not say whether he was the father.

Stovell said his only request was that the child, if a boy, play basketball. He said his memory of the encounter resurfaced more than 20 years later, "after being asked whether I had a son, and I then systematically explored all of my past for that possibility."

"I came across this set of recollections and in focusing on them, they amplified," he said.

In the complaint, filed June 23, Stovell says, "I recently have concluded that a comprehensive, sophisticated and well-funded effort might well have been underway for quite some time, perhaps beginning in its present form as early as when defendant LeBron James was in high school, to frustrate identification of his real father, and that there is a likelihood that the father in question is me."

He stopped short of saying he is certain he is James' father. "I don't want to make such a definitive statement in the absence of corroborative evidence" such as DNA, he said.

Stovell said he filed the suit two weeks ago because a statute of limitations was about to expire. "I have some limitation considerations that caused me to want to file the suit before the end of June," he said.

He denied the timing had anything to do with the current LeBron mania.

James is scheduled to announce Thursday evening the team he has chosen to play for next season, a deal worth perhaps tens of millions of dollars or more. He currently plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

He says he was informed by Gloria James months later that she was pregnant. He claims she told him the child would be named LeBron, similar to Leicester Bryce, Stovell's first and middle names.

The lawsuit states Gloria James was 16 at the time of the alleged encounter, but Stovell said she told him she was in her early 20s.

Stovell is a solo legal practitioner in the District of Columbia, and filed the lawsuit on his own behalf. A call to LeBron James' attorney, Frederick Nance of Cleveland, Ohio, was not immediately returned.

The lawsuit had been filed without much initial publicity, but was reported by the TMZ celebrity website Wednesday.

Public records show Stovell is a former government attorney with the Securities and Exchange Commission. He filed a lawsuit in 2002 against the agency, alleging racial discrimination. Federal court records show the case was settled when the commission paid him $230,000, while not admitting fault.

I wouldn't say a more talented balkman, I would say a bigger balkman who tries in practice so the coach let's him play in games...

$30mm diff. between max contracts. If he takes less, probably somewhere around $40mm total. Maybe a little less with no income tax.Endorsement deals are probably a wash. Superteam/titles vs. being the sole focus of the team.

Much better, but still work to do. Miller maybe? Ridnour?

 
I really dont think this makes Miami the team to beat. I would still rather have the Lakers or the Celtics. I think the Bulls can even beat them in a series. Should be interesting to see how it works or doesnt

That 6th year of like 21 mill doesn't mean much to a 25 yr old james. The difference is like 9 million total, and they will all get damn near max contracts. James probably lost almost that much money with the pr hit he is going to take by looking like such a tool from this ####.
 
Ill say this for the whole Free Agency debacle. It has gotten me more involved in following the NBA. This will probably last til Game 2 though, but hoping it doesnt.

Does anyone think Stern is beside himself trying to figure out how this can be defended as not collusion
