So the current NYK depth chart looks like this...PG-DouglassSG-Chandler-Azubuke-RautinsSF-Gallo-WalkerPF-Randolph-FieldsC-Stoudamire-Turiaf-JordanMuch better, but still work to do. Miller maybe? Ridnour?
any chance they trade any of these guys for Mello. Miller and Anthony are both SFs arent they?
Seriously doubt anything is done with Melo until next season. Just realized I left Curry off the roster. He could be flipped for a guard maybe.

I really dont think this makes Miami the team to beat. I would still rather have the Lakers or the Celtics. I think the Bulls can even beat them in a series. Should be interesting to see how it works or doesnt
oh come on.Lakers vs Miami is inevitable.
No it's not. Magic and Celts have good teams. Who is Miami going to stick on Howard? It's certainly possible, but far from foregone.

A lot of retailers are banking that this won't be the case. You'll see Lebron Heat tees and jerseys at your local NY mall and Time Square by Saturday....along with every other corner of the country.

Melo won't be traded, especially for any of that crap. He's gonna take his 65 million and stay in denver through 2015.

Ill say this for the whole Free Agency debacle. It has gotten me more involved in following the NBA. This will probably last til Game 2 though, but hoping it doesnt. Does anyone think Stern is beside himself trying to figure out how this can be defended as not collusion
What, collusion between players? Pretty sure there aren't any rules against that.

He has 25 owners right now calling him up and demanding an end to the luxury tax and to put in a hard cap like the NHL - and he will get to preside over that transition like his buddy Gary Bettman. He should resign now.

You can find three scrubby centers to mug Howard throughout the game a lot easier than you can find guys who can contain LeBron or Wade with little help.

How much money did LeBron leave on the table by going to Miami over Cleveland?
$30mm diff. between max contracts. If he takes less, probably somewhere around $40mm total. Maybe a little less with no income tax.Endorsement deals are probably a wash. Superteam/titles vs. being the sole focus of the team.
But part of the $30 million includes the extra year, right? And couldn't Miami potentially re-sign him after 5 years for even MORE money (if the salary cap goes up in the next 5 years)?

 Nothing illegal about labor colluding.
Thought there was.

I hope the Cavs, Knicks or Bulls are the team that knocks Miami out of the playoffs. What a coward move by Lebron. He's basically admitting he can't do it and needs to ride D-Wade's sack. If it was purely about winning and leading a team to a title then he goes to Bulls.

So Knicks wasted two years to net Lee for Amare? Whats that worth? 5 wins?
I don't think they wasted anything - it's not like they had any type of shot the last two years. They got better, and there's hope. They did ok with just Ewing and a bunch of role players (Starks, Oak, Childs and Mason weren't star players.) They get a few decent guys around Stoudamire (and it looks like we might have with the recent trade), maybe sign someone next year, and there's definitely cause to be at least a little excited.

Maybe. :deadhorse: He usually puts up big numbers against scrubby centers. I have no doubt Miami is the favorite now in the east, but I don't see it as some sort of walkthrough.

They may even have a 1st rounder next year

You think any of those guys sign for the minimum?I think we are talking about Jason Williams, Juwan Howard, and DJ Mbenga's of the world, filling out that roster.

I think Donnie Walsh needs to inquire about the availability of Steve Nash. That team can do alot of damage with Nash running the show.

Im not saying they are garbage BUT, you see a cake walk over Boston if it comes to that. I dont.
I would bet good money on the celtics missing out on home court next year. They have 3 old guys who aren't all the great anymore, an injured center, big baby, rondo and oneal (great signing) and a couple rookies, they don't have the depth to be a successful team and they don't have the pull to get the vets on a cheap contract. They screwed up with the allen and pierce signings.

And who is gonna guard Lebron, Wade & Bosh? This is the NBA. Two great players make you a title contender? Three make you a dynasty

I could see shaq doing it to match kobe... I could also see brad miller and maybe even allen iverson with an accepted sixth man spark plug role to get a ring.

Thought this would never be possible but he makes Kobe look like a good guy.
I think Kobe is a good guy. I think LeBron is a good guy. I certainly don't think this makes LeBron a villain.
In what bizarro world are you living that you think Kobe is a good guy. Based on what?

They will have one for sure, but HOU gets to swap picks, if they want. :deadhorse:

Shaq burned his bridges with Riley according to a lot of people.

#1 overall protected only? That stinks

Someone break down this Knicks trade for me. Only recognize Turiaf from Gonzaga.
Randolph is the key acquisition - very athletic big man who could fit well into D'Antoni's system. Needs to commit himself more, but the potential's there to be a fine, fine player. Turiaf's a very high energy player who excels on D, stout shot blocker and gives 100% every time he's on the court. One of those guys you love to have on your team - think Renaldo Balkmon but a lot more talented. Azubuike a decent 2/3 who can shoot the three on occasion, good bench guy.
Isnt that the key? Or was that only a couple of years ago. I thought he had a problem staying on the court.

Yes only if they get #1 overall only. In 2012 they have a top 5 protected draft pick so if they pick #6 then the Rockets get their pick, no swap.
A bit off topic for Goggins, or anyone. When picks are protected like this, what do the Rockets get if the Knicks do get a top 5 pick? Would they just get the 2013 pick?
I believe in 2012 that if the Knicks get a top 5 pick then the Rockets won't get their pick going forward although I do remember reading somewhere that if that happens then in 2013 the Rockets would get their first round pick, not protected but I can't seem to find that link so I doubt it. If I do or if anyone has a link that refutes this or not please post.

They need a PG more than anything else and would rather not waste more money on Miller and save cap room for down the road. Also, not sure you have Stoudamire starting C. I think Randolph is the 6 man of the bench with Turiaf starting at C. Problem is Randolph is still to skinny to guard bigs and Stoudamire has never played any D so you need someone inside to play D and that is Turiaf.

Actually it's more complicated than that:2012 first round draft pick from New York

New York's own 2012 1st round pick to Houston (top 5 protected in 2012, top 5 protected in 2013, top 5 protected in 2014, and top 5 protected in the 2015 Draft). If Houston does not receive a 1st round pick from New York by the 2015 Draft, then New York will convey their own 2015 2nd round pick and 2016 2nd round pick to Houston. [Houston - New York - Sacramento, 2/18/2010]

I would love JJ Reddick for the Heat.
I'd be very surprised if he went there. He sat on the bench and worked on his game for 3-4 years to prove he was NBA worthy. He's finally capable of getting paid a somewhat decent NBA wage. I don't see him taking the minimum to "win". It's easy for Lebron and those guys who've been making bank for years and are still gonna get multiples of what Redick may get. It's not so easy for a slow, white, role player.

 With the lockout next year, I dont think you will see a lot of players take paycuts this year.

JJ is not going there for the minimum. I'd consider that less likely than I would have thought Lebron...this is his one big payday. Not like he's sitting on a huge Nike contract.

So, HOU gets a switch in 2011 and then they get the next non top 5 pick the Knicks have from 2012 until 2015.
