*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (2 Viewers)

In terms on where basketballl players would like to play, the Timberwolves has to be bottom two, maybe only Toronto is worse for tax reasons.

I'll add for w/e reason, and I've realized this while live in the midwest, people in that region are incredibly uncomfortable around diversity. Not just black people but hispanic's, indians, middle easterners...they all make midwesterners uncomfortable. They immediately confuse ethnic neighborhoods for unsafe neighborhoods.
WTF?
:towelwave:
It's true. Just call them like I see them.
That's gotta be one of the dumbest things said in a thread where Goggins has 200 posts. Congrats.

In three years this is what I found to be the case. Because it offends your sensibilities doesn't make it any less true.

Um...actually, I was talking about walking/driving down commercial streets and seeing lots of teenage kids looking like they were ready to start something...then seeing that at least one of them was exercising their 2nd Amendment rights. But yeah, this former Community Organizer from South Minneapolis is an "ist," I guess, who must wave the Confederate flag and says "we don't like yer kind around here!" while spittin' some chew on their shoes and peering out from under his cowboy/trucker/NASCAR hat....just because people from two generations earlier named "Anderson" and "Olson" who happened to live in the same area were #####-bags and ignorant fools. :towelwave:

:towelwave: Why does it make someone a racist if they are just uncomfortable around certain other races. Either way I wasn't talking about you, I was making a gross generalization based on my experience living in the midwest.

Beasley only making 5 Mil a year while bums like Jared Jeffries make 8M.

Why would no team want a #2 pick who is very talented? Why wouldnt Clippers want him?

There are like 4 teams that will have about 15M in extra cap space come opening day
Wolves wanted him...since before the draft they've been linked to him in several rumored deals. ;) Love the comment about sending him to Siberia too. :lmao: MSP is the 13th/14th largest metro in the country...2.5 million people? It's in the 90s today and all the beautiful 20-something women in Minneapolis are out walking/jogging around Lake Harriet and Lake Calhoun in some skimpy outfits...then will head to one of about 10,000 coffee shops and restaurants to hang out before heading out to the largest arts, theatre and music scene in the United States outside of New York. But yeah...if you had a repeat of the 1908 Tunguska event happen over MSP, maybe a couple deer, a few gophers, and several thousand trees and might be killed in the process.
Difficult to verify and large <> good

Apparently Gilbert just had a phone interview with the AP

Gilbert is also threatning to "air dirty laundry", and saying he quit on the team during the playoffs.
The interviewer should have asked him why he would want a superstar back who supposedly quit on the team. I mean, shouldn't be happy to get rid of such a quitter instead of spouting off like a jilted lover?

Three years where Magellan? Did you visit every city in the midwest to procure this "truth?" :lmao:What a joke.
I lived in Southeastern Ohio, and I spent time in Indiana, Michigan, and Illinois. So your position is essentially that what I'm saying can't possibly be true because ____________?

datonn, no offense, but when listing desirable places to live in the US, Miami is pretty high up on the list. Minny doesn't make the list. :lmao:
Isn't MSP typically near the top of every list of the best places to live in the U.S.?
Only for people who like to live in an area with lots of jobs, a bunch of big corporate headquarters, and excellent public schools. For someone who just wants to surf all day, and drink and smoke weed all night, Minnesota's long winters will chase them away.Given the tone set by shake zula in this tangent... a benefit of MSP that few people talk about out loud? Hardly any homeless people. They can't survive the cold.
If there is no weed and booze it isn't the winter that's chasing them away.

wow, I cant believe the Wolves are gonna swap first rounders. Now I know why no other team took Beasely. Damn, the Heat will have the super 3 and a first round pick, not fair at all. Wake me up when its 2016

This. What is also interesting is just how many pro athletes who play for the Twins/Wolves/Wild/Vikings end up living in MSP after their playing days are over, even if they haven't played for the team in several years. I'm sure a lot of it is just stages of life though. If I were a teenager, college student or just out of college and I wasn't married with a family, I'd probably want to salivate walking around South Beach too. Not there for the heat/humidity, not there for the food or the quality of life. Just there to ogle and try and get laid. And since most athletes are consider to be "grandpa" once they hit 30? I get it.Fast forward a few years though. You're married, you've got kids. Your "member" isn't the Executive, Legislative and Judicial Branches in how you govern your life anymore. :lmao: Are the things you wanted at 18-25 the same things you want now? Probably, if you're in your 30s-40s-50s, divorced and looking at getting a convertible and that Bosley hair treatment so you think women won't look at you and as-quickly look for the newer, more attractive model. But for the rest of us, my guess is no.Like I said, different strokes for different folks. People that love Pepsi and hate Coke will probably never be convinced otherwise (even though Dr. Pepper kicks both their ###es, lol). As long as they are speaking from experience and have given Pepsi/Coke a fair shake, let 'em think and prefer whatever they like.

...because you are ignorant. You've obviously never been to Ann Arbor, Chicago, Campaign-Urbana, Grand Rapids, Columbia, Indianapolis, Columbus, Minneapolis, Traverse City, Kansas City, St Louis, Jefferson City or many of the other small towns in the region. Dearborn Michigan is primarily middle eastern, no one thinks it's "unsafe." It's actually the opposite, people flock there because of the relative safety. The college towns are extremely diverse and big cities like Chicago and smaller ones like Carbondale have a fine mix of people from all over the place. Immigrants from the far east and Eastern Europe can be found in the suburbs of Detroit and Mexicans thrive in the SW part of the city which is the only part that is growing. Detroiters flock there. Every gas station and grocery store in metro Detroit is owned by Indians or Middle Easterners. I think you are living in 1958. Where all your friends 70 in Ohio? I thought you were smarter than this, you basically just called tens of millions of people ignorant racists. What are you doing, your best HUCKs impersonation?

Just spent the weekend in MSP for the first time and had a blast

Great area

Sure, it's a different story in January, but I thoroughly enjoyed MSP and found almost none of what Shake described

Really not your finest hour there Shake, IMO

Is this the double reverse hook of shake zula??? First, I never used the word racist. I never used it because in my three years in the region I don't think I ever met a TRULY racist person. With that said, and as I stated before: people in the areas I lived in and visited, which included a large college town, tended to be uncomfortable around diversity. I think white people, in those areas, have a hard time recognizing and admitting how uncomfortable they are around diversity. I'm not saying it is everyone. I even admitted it was a gross generalization. I also acknowledge it is anecdotal. But it is still what I experienced. No reason to get your panties all twisted. I enjoy your posts and I also enjoy bantering with you. If I just came in here and conceded your point I know you'd be disappointed.

There hasn't been any confirmation as to when the 1st round pick swap is, or how protected it is. I would imagine it is top 10 protected, and most likely in 2015 or so. :lmao: If not, then, yes, Kahn may actually be a worse GM than McHale.

However, he sure is hoarding talent. Jefferson, Love, and Beasley. Sessions, Rubio and Flynn. Also Webster, Brewer and Johnson.

I love what Walsh has done to the Knicks. I thought if we dont Lebron we done. But we got Anthony "21 year old" Randolph who is a steals machine and blocks shots as well for free basically and also got good solid role players Azu and Turiat. Really want Felton now, and i think we can be a surprising #5 or #6 seed if Danilo can take the next step. Now all we need is Melo or CP3 in 2012 and we can contend with Heat.
:lmao: Getting Randolph, Azu, and Turiaf really lessens the stings of not getting Lebron. I disagree about getting Felton, they need to preserve the cap space for Parker, Anthony, or CP3. With this roster the playoffs are a realistic goal. PG is still a gaping hole though perhaps a Shaun Livingston could fill in for a shorter and cheaper deal than Felton.

I'm astonished that Tonn gets to rip Miami, my hometown obviously, a place that I am incredibly proud of for a number of reasons beyond sports. And all I get is lambasted for saying that MSP sucks in the winter. :shuked:

Wolves message boards at KFAN.com are saying that Jerry Zgoda (StarTribune) is reporting that the swap of picks can occur as late as the 2017-2018 season...rumored to be the Wolves who can say which year the swap of firsts will occur.

So pretty much it is an excellent deal for the Wolves. They get a chance at Beasley for nothing.

I always took you for someone who was open minded, just surprised me. I think what you are referring to is something related to acceptance of things that are different but it has less to do with diversity than it does routine IMO. It's called stubbornness and you see it manifest in different ways depending on where you are in the country.Anyway back to hoops. GO HEAT!

That was a different post. And it's true, we all know that white people in the midwest are just closet homophobes who particularly hate "thugs", and thugs is code for something else in white man lingo.

:shrug:Yes go Heat. Break the chains of oppression. This is for every thug who never had a chance in MSP, Kalamazoo, Ann Arbor, and the rest of the bastions of Midwestern cosmopolitanism.

Meh.The team is not competing for a championship for at least 3 years. They get a look at Beasley and either decide they like him (and pick up the team option), or they let him go next year and take the 5 million slot next year.

Evidently the supply of Somali's is high, but the quota on star athletes low. :shrug:Which does raise an interesting question why are there so many Somali's in MSP? Same goes for El Salvadorian's in DC? If I was Somali I'd want to live in Arizona, and if I was El Salvadorian I'd want to live in Costa Rica.

I'm going to let it go, I thought DD had a little gas left in the tank. I'm restless and looking for trouble.

Yep, the Wolves pretty much have to take a few chances like this (Darko, Beasley, etc.). They weren't willing to take that same chance on Cousins, for whatever reason. However, I do know that a lot of people around the team and fan base think they got a serious baller in Wesley Johnson.If/when the team gets Rubio over from Europe, they actually have a decent collection of young players who can make a little noise on the court. Beasley's no slouch either, for all of his off the court issues. His points, offensive rebounds, defensive rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks (per-game) all went up in 2009-2010, and he seems to be a 4 who can create a bit for himself off the dribble...something the Wolves desperately need. Not saying he'll be an All-Star or anything! However, for what it cost them, he's the right gamble for the team to take.

Definitely worth the gamble, and he is far better than people are making him out to be. He just didn't fit in on Miami. In hindsight, I think he makes a ton more sense in the West, where defense is less of an issue and the game is more up and down.

Which city has more bugs?
Nice avatar. :lmao:Always nice to talk basketball with a fellow diehard Miami HEAT fan.
<-----------I need to be lavished with innerweb approval.
Keep on characterizing an entire region of white people as racist.Soon you will be lavished with approval on the same level as Internet hero LHUCKS.It may seem like a long journey, but every journey begins with a single step.
You make a valid point. I like salmon but not that much.
