Calderon to BobcatsTyson Chandler and Diaw to Raptors
Calderon to replace Felton is a good move. He needs a change of scenery but can definitely run the point. I like this move for Charlotte.Chandler/Diaw = Yawn. Chandler is in a contract year so he'll probably be productive I guess.

There are going to be quite a few teams that are going to regret this offseason for years to come because of their poor choices. I'm not a huge amare fan, but I would much much rather have him than hedo warrick and a couple million.

Maybe this means they have a deal in place for Turkoglu?Edit: Nevermind...I should have read ahead.

you must not be familiar with robert sarver's work....?

It isn't pretty but at least the Raptors got out of two long term deals. Chandler will be gone at the end of the year, if not sooner. Diaw and Barbosa both come off the books after 11/12. Getting rid of Turkoglu is addition by subtraction... they would have given him away for nothing so it is basically, Calderon for Diaw, Chandler and Barbosa. Adds some depth... I guess. Raptors will be bottom feeders this year (shocking) but they've cleared up the PG situation and got rid of a cancer.

I think they're pretty high on Jack.
they better be because giving barbosa starter minutes is a terrible idea.
As for Jack, he is clearly a little disappointed to be losing his best friend on the team, but he continued to maintain he wants to play in Toronto. On Tuesday, he sounded enthusiastic about taking more of a leadership role with the Raptors. It is probable that Raptors general manager Bryan Colangelo will try to move either Jack or his fellow point guard, Jose Calderon.

“I made it very clear to [Colangelo] that I wanted to be here regardless of what happened in free agency with Chris or anybody else,” Jack said. “That’s really the reason I’m up here.”

So Raptors now have Diaw, Chandler, Bargniani, Amir Johnson, and Ed Davis in the post? Seems like a lot of overkill. And they just signed Kleiza to an offer sheet.
Kleiza is a small forward. Even with bringing in the terrible contract of diaw and the slight over payment of kleiza, these guys are making out of this off season alright. Dumping hedos contract seemed impossible, and being that they demoted calderon to 2nd string, dumping his contract was a good step too. They should have a much improved defense next year, diaw chandler davis are all plus defenders and the move of bargnani to pf should help a bunch too.

Quentin Richardson has agreed in principle to a multi-year contract with the Orlando Magic, a league source tells Y! Sports.
Very nice signing for the Magic. Now, when Carter mails it in they have someone to put in in his place who can score some points. The Magic aren't going to be nearly as easy to beat as Miami fans may think.
According to No. 16, Richardson is a better value than Rudy Gay. :goodposting:

So does that indicate they may not match the Bulls offer to Reddick?

And Reggie Evans. I'd expect some more movement before the summer is done.
Is this the starting lineup right now?PG: J. Jack (Marcus Banks)SG: Derozan (Barbosa, Belinelli)SF: Diaw (Weems)PF: Bargnani (Amir, Ed Davis, Evans)C: Chandler (Alabi, Dorsey)Edit: Maybe Kleiza starts over Diaw if they get him?

I like Jarrett Jack but I think he has peaked as a player. He's the kind of guy that you absolutely love as a 6th man.....but if he's your starter then you're always going to be looking for a better option.

I hadn't thought of that, but yes.

Weems will share the SG time with Derozan. Barbosa will play backup at the point and probably sometime at the 2.

He was playing great at the end of last year. I'm guessing they'll start Derozan but the minutes will be pretty even.

absolutely agree. while i don't think calderon was elite talent, i also don't think he was a part of the problem there. he was going to be less effective with bosh gone.all of this said, they're still a much better team than phoenix.

I'm vowing right now (time permitting) to watch at least 4 non-Laker regular season Clipper games this season. I'd prefer to watch Bucks games (been my 2nd favorite NBA squad since they had Marques Johnson but lost interest after they shipped Ray Allen out), but I'm not springing for the NBA package just to see Bucks games. Does TNT/ESPN ever play Bucks games during the regular season?

Yeah, but thanks to Richardson's blistering .431 FG% last year, his career average is now up to .400 even.

Calderon was great on the offensive end... but an absolute embarrassment on the defensive end.

That doesn't look like a good team to me.

Good shot at being in the bottom 5, IMO.
I'm guessing around 30-35 wins.
 I'm desperately hoping management does the right thing and allows this team to stink for the next 2-3 years. The team has absolutely no chance of ever putting a contender on the floor with their current personel and a steady stream of draft picks in the 8-12 range. However, knowing the incompetence that is MLSE, they will probably fail in this regard as well (i.e. Leafs in 2009).

Unfortunately, it isn't MLSe's fault this time. They've given Colangelo full control. The Leafs embarassing level of incompetence is definitely MLSE's fault though. I agree. Blow it up for a few years and get some picks.ETA: I really hope they don't start giving away 1st round picks (2nd overall!!!!) like the Leafs.

I know nobody cares, but that's kind of a bittersweet deal for the Bobcats (the playoff team in the deal).

I'll really miss Diaw and I would've thought that Chandler's expiring contract would've been more valuable than that. Chandler, the player, is pretty worthless, but when he's on the court, at least it's a big body to do some fouling. This deal leaves a team that's thin in the frontcourt even thinner.

Getting Calderon is exciting and necessary, but it felt like we gave up alot. Diaw's a good player and Chandler's contract has alot of value.

who are your worst five going into next year?
In no particular order: Cleveland, Minnesota, Toronto, Detroit and Golden State.
Glad to see Sacramento isn't circling the drain this year. Whatever you do, don't expand your list to seven, however.
Yeah, they're in my next cut with LA and NJ and Philly.
You're not buying into the Clippers' hype? An awful lot of people this is going to be a pretty good team, based mainly on a guy nobody has yet seen play, and continued improved performances by Chris Kamen.

You can't make a case for the Clips being good without saying the word 'if' at least four times.

charlotte got a lot smaller along the frontline with chandler and diaw's departure, right? they re-signed tyrus thomas but who is left?C - ajinca/diop/mohammedPF - thomas/wallaceSF - wallace/hendersonSG - sjax/hendersonPG - calderon/augustinthey need some guys to fill out the roster.

getting rid of dunleavy is a good thing. they still are going to rise and fall at the hands of baron davis. if they can find a way to get some leadership out of him then they're going to be pretty good.
