I think the Nuggets organization and Melo's people are both dropping the ball here. If Melo wants out this year, I think this is his one and only chance, there is no way the Nuggets are taking the crap NY has to offer, and Luol Deng's contract is terrible so there is no way he is going to find his way in Denver. Melo holds that card and nothing the Nuggets can do about it except go to practice and get ready for the season with Melo. No one can find a quote from Melo saying he wants to be traded. No. They (essentially) traded TWO 1st round picks for McGrady.Its not just about the picks. Its also about the players they can offer and the relative value of that package compared to what other teams can offer. The (rumored) Nets offering would get Favors (a top 3 guy in the draft who has "top 5 big man in the game" potential) and two first round picks. The best the Knicks could offer would probably be Gallinari, Randolph....?

Do you think the Knicks will be better then the Rockets this season? Agree that 20 spots isn't happening, but I could easily see it being a 4 - 8 spot swing in Houston's favor. Your right Melos holds most of the cards. The only card he doesn't hold is the CBA shutdown. It's in his best interest to work with the Nuggets and work out some kinda of a sign and trade deal before it expires.

Melo resigning in Denver is better than the trash the Nets, Bulls or Rockets are also offering them.

The only recent superstar I can remember who wanted to leave, but ended up staying, is Kobe Bryant and Melo is no where near as good as Kobe Bryant. Any other star player has been accommodated with a trade or left during FA with the home team having nothing to show for it. Just think for a second if teams were offering those trades for Joe Johnson everyone would say the Nuggets are crazy to turn down those offers, but because Melo is overrated people actually think the Nuggets are better with Carmelo.

Since you brought up Joe Johnson, the Suns received two 1st rd picks and Diaw in sign and trade for Johnson to Atlanta. Denver would be better off on keeping Carmelo for one more season and then trading him instead of trading him for the junk offers they are getting now. It will also give them a yr to convince him to stay.

If you are already offering the guy MORE MONEY than anyone else can offer and he still refuses to sign with you then you know he wants out. Actually they do b/c the Knicks don't have very many assets. They can't throw in one 1st rounder until the year 3000, much less the TWO 1st rounders the Nets are offering. If the Nuggets like Anthony Randolph, I'd be more than satisfied with Derrick Favors in a rookie contract for 4 years, rather then Anthony Randolph and the extension he'll want 2 years from now. Oh and if Eddy Curry's expiring deal is so attractive then AK's expiring MAX deal is too. Also, Melo still has to work with the Nuggets just as much as they have to work with him. The Nuggets can say the Nets are the only team they are trading Melo to... so he can either (1) accept a sign and trade with them or (2) risk losing millions in the new CBA to go to a team of his choice.

I don't agree.I think a core of Noah, Boozer, and Rose would fare better than Melo, Boozer, and Rose.

Noah can shut down Bosh.

Miami gets the edge at SG/SF with Mr. and Mrs. Wade and Chicago has the edge at PG and PF with Rose and Boozer, but if you subtract Noah and add Melo the Bulls find themselves with only a clear advantage at PG because Melo < LBJ and Boozer = Bosh.

Picking on the Nets chemistry is the wrong way to go. It is important and I wish them the best. I just think Melo wants the Knicks and is willing to wait it out until the Nuggets blink first.
