*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (7 Viewers)

This series is really making those Rose MVP voters look stupid.
If we were being serious with ourselves Lebron would win it every year for the next decade..just like 23 would have. The media and people in general just get bored with that so they hand it out elsewhere. Just the nature of the beast.

:no:Chicago is not even in the playoffs without Rose.
True, but LeBron deserved the MVP award again this year.
Actually, I'm not sure that is true. Rose is awesome, but the Bulls are great because of their team defense (of which Rose is one of the weaker parts). They lack bulk scoring other than Rose, but I'd have to think they are still a playoff team.

No matter what he did last offseason, he'd be leading the favorite to come out of the East. Just looks too easy with Wade and sometimes Bosch at his sides.

And he's been a beast defensively for years.

I know as a Bulls fan I'm supposed to hate Lebron James.. but, man.. there is not much to hate in his game. Good lord. Is there anything this guy isn't doing right now?? The big difference between him and D Rose is patience. LBJ doesn't force a thing.

Heat made it easy for Boozer tonight and they'll live with him taking the bulk of the Bulls shots. Thats exactly what they want.. get the ball out of Rose's hands. Chicago looked like nothing more than a counter punching team that just wanted to keep it "close". Never felt like they were going to challenge for the lead.

If the Heat win it this year, how many (perhaps in a row) are they capable of winning before all said & done?

Remarkable what they're doing Year 1 together (with no support outside the Big 3 -- Haslem out all year / Miller MIA this year. Really things could not have went worse (barring a catastrophic injury to one of the 3). I thought it'd take a year (maybe 2) to gel and get a supporting cast. I can only imagine players jumping at the bit to join them for less $$ for a championship opportunity.

I thought maybe this off-season they'd target a center on the cheap -- i.e. Ming or Oden -- they rehab their value for their next contract / maybe get a title in the process. I still think that's a realistic scenario. JMO There's no better place IMO than Miami for Ming to land (playing off James/Wade hitting 15 foot jumpers with less pounding down low - I think Ming can be an effective Ric Smits type player should he choose to return).

Big Z, Dampier and Magloire might all be gone after the season. Next year, it will be Dexter Pittman and a couple of veterans - Dalembert is the name mentioned most often by Ira Winderman. Would that be Miami's mid-level exception?

only Wade and Bosh :lmao:
This series would be 3-0 Miami if not for LeBron's egotistical insistence on being the man. LBJ keeps firing away (49 FGAs in 3 games) despite the fact that he's shooting 47% instead of feeding Bosh in the post, who's shooting 66% but only has 44 FGA.At least that's the narrative I've read in the past. I wonder if the usual suspects will come out in force and bash LeBron for his greed.

Assuming you're alluding to the Kobe bashing....Kobe Bryant

Career playoff AST%: 23.2%

10-11 playoffs: 19.1%

LeBron James

Career playoff AST%: 34.7

10-11 playoffs: 24.5

Why do you keep calling him Ming?

I'm guessing if the Heat do win the championship the terms "#1 option", "sidekick" and "alpha" will suddenly die out. Also look for our unbiased advanced statistics brethren to suddenly have less faith in PER and win shares per minute as accurate measures of player superiority.

Why do you care bus?

Been out of the country so I havent been able to watch any of the games. What is the deal with the NBA rescinding two of Chandlers techs? I read something that he was 1 or 2 away from a suspension and now they take two away. I guess when the Heat beat the Mavs in the finals again, they don't want to deal with any excuses?

Dunno, it's just kind of weird since nobody calls him that

I'm sure you're trying to make some ridiculous point here, but for the life of me I don't know what it is. Why would people who find value in advanced basketball statistics find less value in them simply based on who wins the 2010-11 NBA championship?

 49/3 = ~16. That's not a lot.

What did joakim Noah say to the fan after getting two fouls?
I read his lips too.http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nba/news/story?id=6577126
While he handled the post game much better than Kobe, it is clear he doesn't understand what he did wrong. The excuse is that basically he was caught up in the moment. Sorry but that isn't the problem here. The problem is that such a word is still a part of his vocabulary. His apology should have stated that he has used this word in the past, unfortunately still uses the word as an insult, and will everything he can to eliminate its usage.

I'm pretty embarrassed over what I wrote earlier in this thread about Miami's defense. Boy have they proved me wrong. LeBron in particular has just been incredible. I thought it would take a couple of years for this team to win championships, (and a different coach) but they may do it this year.

Are Laker fans really trying to downgrade Lebron after a 22 point, 10 assist night with 0 turnovers in which he was all over the court on defense while taking a 2-1 lead on the #1 seed?

Seems logical.
