*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (5 Viewers)

Nice to see Jason Kidd knocking down 3s. It's especially impressive since he made his NBA debut back before they had a three point line.

Great comeback by Dallas, but this is a choke job by the Thunder. How many shots did they miss in the last two minutes. And now this series is just about over.

I like the Mavs tonight by 10. I think OKC will come out and throw a huge punch early, have the crowd behind them and then realize after an amazing 1st quarter by them, they are only up by 4 or 5. Dirk will have a huge 2nd half and Westbrook will have some boneheaded moments late.
Did I say 10? I meant 7.:hindsight20/20:Amazing win tonight. Really crappy play by OKC late and in OT.

OKC was up by 15 with like 5 minutes left. Losing Harden pretty much killed their offense. Watching Westbrook try to get the ball to Durant is painful.

Can the Mavs's zone D contain the Heat?
Who can guard Dirk and stop the Mav's 3-pt shooting? This match-up would have lots of story lines, including one by Mark Cuban.
Yeah Mavs have to be feared by Miami (or Chicago). They embarrassed the two time champ Lakers in historic fashion, are beating the scoring champ/future dynasty by playing smart team ball, and nobody is playing better than Dirk right now on offense. They have Marion/Kidd playing good perimeter D, and Chandler is perfect next to Dirk. Jason Terry can fill it up in a hurry also, and is the kind of guy that can get hot and turn a game around. Barea is a wildcard that nobody can seem to cover effectively.

OKC didn't even play that crappy. Harden fouled out, and Dallas doubled Durant HARD even off the ball. Nobody on that team outside of those guys is that good a shooter. It wasn't that they played horrible down the stretch as much as it was that they shot os incredibly well from the start that they had to cool off to at least their normal shooting percentage...they were over 60% for much of the game.

Westbrooke still thinks he's Jordan. Refuses to take fewer shots and give more to Durant. If they lose this, a lot of it falls on him. Acts like he's a shooting guard.

If Haslem is able to get his legs back under him this series, he and Bosh are both athletic and long/strong enough to give Dirk problems. Can Marion guard lebron and Stevenson Wade? Should be a good series, but miami's D and offensive spurts should wear the Mavs down. The 3s won't fall so easy over 7 games with Miami's D.

That's what was said about the Thunder's D too...

I like Haslem, but at this stage, coming off injury, I don't think he's going to slow down a red hot Dirk.

Yes but with Anthony defending the rim and Bosh/Haslem able to keep up with Dirk away from the basket, those shooters shouldn't be so open. And Lebron had been a freak on D and Wade is a good defender who plays the lanes extremely well.

I like the idea discussed earlier of LeBron on Dirk.

He's playing as well on D as Dirk is on O. He's also incredible at intercepting entry passes, which seems critical since when Dirk gets the ball and starts facing up, nobody is able to do much.

After reading your last post I was just about to say I bet we see Lebron on Dirk as well

There is no way I'm talking about the Mavs facing anyone in the Finals until this thing is wrapped up.

I think the Thunder are done and crushed after tonight, but I won't believe it until the Mavs have win number 12 of the postseason wrapped up.

Agreed. As a Mavs fan, nothing is a lock. I know this team is different, but Portland in '04 and the obvious debacle I won't mention in '06 comes to mind.

We could be up by 23 in the 4th in Game 5 and I still wouldn't fell safe...we're just the team to join that 4%...
Exactly. This is still a good and dangerous team in OKC. I don't think they can beat Dallas 3 straight games, but all it takes is for them to win Game 5, get some momentum, win at home in Game 6 and then have all the confidence in a Game 7.

Hard to see OKC bouncing back from last night. They were definitely treating last night like it was Game 7 of the NBA finals, and got stomach punched at the end. Not impossible, obviously, but I would be very surprised if they won another game.

Love how "Miami" people are already looking at Finals matchups.

Series is not over............COME ON CHICAGO!!!!!!!!!!!!

 lebron is in beast mode and can and will do whatever his team needs on a given night. Its not worth talking Chicago/Dallas. If they can't stop Bosh, Dirk will average 45 against them the way he's playing.

You do realize Bosh is going off because of James and Wade, right?Dirk wouldn't be getting 10 open 15 foot jump shots along with multiple finishes at the basket as gifts from LeBron. The Bulls defense would be far more concerned with Dirk than they can possibly even try to be with Bosh. That said, it isn't like it would be easy to slow him down.
