I'd heard the Hawks (who do need a PG) are dumping Smoove, not really looking for value, & that the Magic love the idea of pairing D12 & him defensively as a way of forming a different kind of juggernaut which might get Howard interested in staying, but that's as much as i'd heard.U guys here the Josh Smith for Jameer and others deal going around twitter?
Assuming Cavs take Irving, Sessions would probably be available'Abraham said:Orlando should jump on that. Smith would fit great with Howard. As far as a pg, I'm sure they could find something on the discount rack (Bibby, trade Richardson for Felton ?).
Just saw this.Updated to Lamar and Walton for iggy. If the sixers need cap relief, ok. But not a great deal for them.

The San Antonio Spurs and Portland Trail Blazers nearly completed a blockbuster trade on Wednesday afternoon, but the deal fell apart in the late stages. San Antonio was prepared to ship Tony Parker and the #29 pick to Portland in exchange for Andre Miller, Nicolas Batum and the #21 pick. Other players would have been added in order to make salaries work. However, the deal died when the Spurs insisted that Richard Jefferson be included in the talks. Since San Antonio's attempt to add Jefferson, talks have quieted, but they could pick up tomorrow if one of these teams has a change of heart. -Hoopsworld
Very good trade for both teams if the Spurs would back off the Jefferson inclusion. Absolutely amazing that they ever signed him to that deal. To make that trade even possible the Blazers would have to throw in one of Wallace/Aldridge/Roy/Camby.The San Antonio Spurs and Portland Trail Blazers nearly completed a blockbuster trade on Wednesday afternoon, but the deal fell apart in the late stages. no ####, RC. that's like $20m a year in contracts. it's hard enough to get teams to take on half that amount. i know that Pop was interested in Batum in the past but that's just a stupid trade. The San Antonio Spurs and Portland Trail Blazers nearly completed a blockbuster trade on Wednesday afternoon, but the deal fell apart in the late stages. Oof, 2.5MMValanciunas was optimistic that a buyout agreement allowing him to play next season could be reached with his team, Lietuvas Rytas, but estimated that it would cost $2.5 million. NBA teams can only pay $500,000 toward a buyout, which would place the remaining burden on Valanciunas. “It’s really tough. Lietuvas Rytas don’t want to let me out. I believe my agent [Leon Rose] will fix this problem,” he said. “I just want to get to the NBA and begin playing.” Washington Post
They tried him out there as a rookie, and were forced to play him there a little last year, but I think the organization has come to realize that hes a SG. He is similar in style to a Wade/Kobe/Iverson type where he is a ball controlling shooting guard with the handles of a PG, but is a shoot first, shoot second, pass third guy.So Ty Evans is a shooting guard? I thought he was a point. Batun, miller, and the 21 for Parker would be a nice trade for san Antonio. But I doubt anyone takes that Jefferson contract.
I don't think thats uncommon for a type flight European prospect. These kids get roped into horrible contracts, they really need to read through what they are signing before they sign it. Sometimes they are getting paid $300-400k and have buyouts in the mulit millions.Oof, 2.5MMValanciunas was optimistic that a buyout agreement allowing him to play next season could be reached with his team, Lietuvas Rytas, but estimated that it would cost $2.5 million. There's a lot of Ben Wallace in that "dude from the Congo". It's definitely a swing for the fences. So the pistons are targeting some dude from the Congo to take at #8? Great
Oh, I know, but I had just previously heard Valanciunas saying that he believes he can work out the buyout. This is the first I've heard the actual number, so I shared. Rubio's was $2MM iirc before he went over to Barca and got a new deal that reduced it to $1MM after year 2 as a comparison.ETA: $2.5MM basically means it's very unlikely he's coming over this year. Especially with comments like "Lietuvas Rytas don't want to let me out," since sometimes they'll work with a player to reduce that buyout.I don't think thats uncommon for a type flight European prospect. It seemed like Jefferson opted out of his final year (at something like $15M) with the agreement that SA would resign him at a smaller price but over more years. If that was the case, it wasn't horrible, but if Jefferson didn't have an agreement like that on the table, the Spurs ####ed up big time.Does anyone remember why they gave Jefferson that contract? Iirc, he voided his deal and they gave him a bigger one. Which made no sense and is now holding then back.
Hes a little more bouncy like Serge Ibaka... plus he doesn't rock a sweet fro. There's a lot of Ben Wallace in that "dude from the Congo". It's definitely a swing for the fences. So the pistons are targeting some dude from the Congo to take at #8? Great
The Rockets are trying to move up in the draft and Jonathan Givony reports general manager Daryl Morey could be offering guard Courtney Lee to Milwaukee at No. 10 to make it happen. The Rockets have been one of the most active teams on the phones and have even talked to the Wolves about the No. 2 pick.ESPN.com's Andy Katz writes: "The Wolves are actively listening to offers for No. 2. Phoenix and Washington are two teams that aren't involved, but Houston, which owns pick No. 14, has proposed at least 10 different options for Minnesota's No. 2."The Rockets are probably looking to get one of the top big men in the draft, if they can move up.
Yeah, that's true. Plus there's the TREMENDOUS UPSIDE that indicates he could develop an offensive game. He's only played basketball for four years! #clicheHes a little more bouncy like Serge Ibaka... plus he doesn't rock a sweet fro. There's a lot of Ben Wallace in that "dude from the Congo". YES!!!Rockets have room to take on cash. How about....
miller and baton to sa
The 29 and Parker to Portland
The 21, Jefferson, and splitter to Houston.
Houston then sends the 21 and 24 to someone in the teens. Take singleton or bismack with the 14 and d montanaiusius with the next pick.
'Funkley said:Khan should take Williams and one of the sg's if one falls and go straight to bed happy. But I think he will try to get clever and khan it up.
I seriously would not be shocked to see him take another point guard, he's that crazy. Are people really that high on Parker still? Blazers are getting ripped on this deal imo.The San Antonio Spurs and Portland Trail Blazers nearly completed a blockbuster trade on Wednesday afternoon, but the deal fell apart in the late stages. that's kind of my understanding of it. it was with the expectation that Jefferson would be something other than a waste of space. It seemed like Jefferson opted out of his final year (at something like $15M) with the agreement that SA would resign him at a smaller price but over more years. I'm not so sure I hate that contract situation.I know you are saying this because you really don't want him but say they do take him at 4 if Kanter is gone.He sits in Europe a year and the Cavs aren't as good as they would have been with Irving and Canter this year. This should get them a better draft spot in a better class year in 2012.That's probably too out there.'Captain Quinoa said:Bad news for CLE unless they have a solid plan to trade out of the 4 spot. A number of teams appear to be after Jonas...The Oklahoma City Thunder currently own the No. 24 pick in the first round and ESPN.com's Chad Ford reports general manger Sam Presti is trying to get into the mid-lottery area.According to Ford, Presti is offering point guard Eric Maynor to get into the top third of the draft.Jonas Valanciunas is reportedly the target of the Thunder.

God I just read a few mock drafts. I know like 3 names on that list.
There's a guy from the Congo going in the lottery?
Yes, he might have back issues and it was reported by a scout that he played a pickup game 1 on 0 and lost.God I just read a few mock drafts. I know like 3 names on that list. There's a guy from the Congo going in the lottery?
he's basically russell westbrook without the present ability to finish at the rim with his left hand, and a lingering foot injury. The kings could use somebody who keeps everyone involved. So Ty Evans is a shooting guard? I thought he was a point.

unless they can somehow get Williams without giving up too much (i.e. not giving up JJ, AV, or 2012 #1), I'm all for them trading down and taking a scorer at 6/7/whatever. Would love to come away with Irving/ Klay Thompson/ and either a big like the USC center or a #1 next year if they can turn the 4 into 2 picks.I'm starting to think Valenciunas is the proper pick at 4 if Irving/Williams/Kanter are gone.Rumors swirling about the Cavs obtaining 7 from SAC. Capt. Q may have a stroke if the Cavs end up taking him at 4.I know the Cavs are rumored to be trying to get more 1st round picks, I would not put it past them if Kanter/Williams are off the board to deal down from 4 with someone that wants Valenciunas to get more picks or a pick and a player.I hope they don't, I'd be happy with Kanter or Valenciunas if they can't swing something to get Irving and Williams both.I'm starting to think Valenciunas is the proper pick at 4 if Irving/Williams/Kanter are gone.Rumors swirling about the Cavs obtaining 7 from SAC. it would have to be Garcia. If the Kings did this, it would be cause for Stern to take the franchise away from the Maloofs, Mccourt-style. They were already beneath the nba salary minimum last year and have dalembert's huge deal coming of the books.Apparently part of the trade exception and maybe a 2nd rounder to SAC for #7 and a player.edit: maybe not so bad a rumor with SAC cash issues.
