I'd heard the Hawks (who do need a PG) are dumping Smoove, not really looking for value, & that the Magic love the idea of pairing D12 & him defensively as a way of forming a different kind of juggernaut which might get Howard interested in staying, but that's as much as i'd heard.

Orlando should jump on that. Smith would fit great with Howard. As far as a pg, I'm sure they could find something on the discount rack (Bibby, trade Richardson for Felton ?). I think a team should accent it's biggest strength when it has the chance. Inside d is orlandos biggest strength. Adding smith makes their middle really stout.

Very good trade for both teams if the Spurs would back off the Jefferson inclusion. Absolutely amazing that they ever signed him to that deal. To make that trade even possible the Blazers would have to throw in one of Wallace/Aldridge/Roy/Camby.

They tried him out there as a rookie, and were forced to play him there a little last year, but I think the organization has come to realize that hes a SG. He is similar in style to a Wade/Kobe/Iverson type where he is a ball controlling shooting guard with the handles of a PG, but is a shoot first, shoot second, pass third guy.

I don't think thats uncommon for a type flight European prospect. These kids get roped into horrible contracts, they really need to read through what they are signing before they sign it. Sometimes they are getting paid $300-400k and have buyouts in the mulit millions.

Oh, I know, but I had just previously heard Valanciunas saying that he believes he can work out the buyout. This is the first I've heard the actual number, so I shared. Rubio's was $2MM iirc before he went over to Barca and got a new deal that reduced it to $1MM after year 2 as a comparison.ETA: $2.5MM basically means it's very unlikely he's coming over this year. Especially with comments like "Lietuvas Rytas don't want to let me out," since sometimes they'll work with a player to reduce that buyout.

It seemed like Jefferson opted out of his final year (at something like $15M) with the agreement that SA would resign him at a smaller price but over more years. If that was the case, it wasn't horrible, but if Jefferson didn't have an agreement like that on the table, the Spurs ####ed up big time.

I'd think the rockets are looking at the lithuainian. Or, looking to get Kanter for the cavs at two then sliding back to 4 to get the Lithuanian. I could see Houston adding Jamison the reason to move from two to four. Then again, morey has made it clear they can't win without a star, so maybe they want Williams.

The Congo guy is 6'9 with a 7'7 reach ad Kevin Garnett intensity. He is a monster on the boards and defense in one of the most competitive leagues putside of the NBA. Bit he has no offensive game. None. One scout said of his last workout " he just played a game of one on none and lost. "
he's basically russell westbrook without the present ability to finish at the rim with his left hand, and a lingering foot injury. The kings could use somebody who keeps everyone involved.

unless they can somehow get Williams without giving up too much (i.e. not giving up JJ, AV, or 2012 #1), I'm all for them trading down and taking a scorer at 6/7/whatever. Capt. it would have to be Garcia. If the Kings did this, it would be cause for Stern to take the franchise away from the Maloofs, Mccourt-style. They were already beneath the nba salary minimum last year and have dalembert's huge deal coming of the books.
