Melo had 37 points on only 17 shots.
Amare had 21 points on 8 of 11.
Clearly, the Knicks need to get our horses the ball more often. Their backcourt - Iman Shumphert and Toney Douglas - combined for 33 shots. While I like their energy, first and foremost NY needs a PG that distributes the ball first. Baron Davis cant get healthy quickly enough.

Would anyone be legitimately surprised if the Heat win 60, or even 66, games this year? I mean, I don't expect it to happen, but if it did I don't think my reaction would be "I never thought they could do that in a million years!!!"
When they're on, just like last year, they're damn good. And they added some actual depth in Battier, Cole, and Haslem (who basically wasn't there last season).

Bosh was nonexistent and Battier barely played yet the still crushed the defending champs. On nights when they're firing on all cylinders, they'll be borderline impossible to beat. They could be in for an incredible season, on par with what the Packers are doing.

Wow! What a comeback! I don't know what to think about that Bulls-Lakers game. Both teams had their periods of playing well and their periods of playing poorly. As a Bulls fan, I'm happy about the win, of course, but there was plenty to be dissapointed with -- Boozer remains nothing special, Rip was absent, Noah didn't show much, etc.

Excited to see the new look Clippers. Paul and Griffen should be a devastating tandem. I wouldnt be surprised if Caron Butler also plays a big role in the offense as a #3 scorer. He should get a lot of open looks.
I also think theyre going to make another trade to strengthen their frontcourt. Theyre guards go five deep - Paul, Chauncey, Randy Foye, Mo Williams and Eric Bledsoe. There are a lot of teams that could benefit from another scoring guard.

It's not uncommon for a team to play poorly after receiving the championship trophy. Miami certainly won't win 66. 60 is almost equivalent of a 75 win 82 season. This seems highly unlikely no matter how bullish you are on the Heat.I think they could win 60+ games this season, even with only 66 total. Is that slowed down enough for you to understand?

I'm also considering how well they did when they started to come together last year. And the fact that they don't have to play the West a ton this year, iirc. Jux - I disagree. I thought Boozer actually played pretty well yesterday, active hands on defense and didn't settle for the jumper down the stretch when they desperately needed buckets. I am cautiously optimistic that he has his legs back and is over the injury issues from last year (although I'm sure some new issues will pop up this year). He did seem to have some spring back though.Oh and Derrick Rose is still really really good.

OKC has a great combination of depth and young legs, plus a surplus of talent, so they should be a great team for the regular season. The pickup of Billups has been underrated for the Clips, I think hes gonna be a very good fit at SG and the CLippers should do well as long as Griffin stays healthy. A bit of a Denver homer pick, but I think the gaggle of young legs will them fresh and combined with their running style they'll surprise. Haywood sucks and they team got older, but I think they'll still fair well in the regular season because of a fairly deep team. I think the fall of the Lakers is overrated, but they will perform better in the playoffs than the regular season because of a short bench and old legs. San Antonio is the same way, Pop will be sitting Manu and Duncan on lots of back to backs. Memphis has somehow become a team people think is going to make a big jump this year even though they have no depth and their best player in Randolph coincidentally had a career year in a contract year... weird. Golden State will still play no defense, but I think Biedrins will be healthy and play better and Lee will be healthy so they should have a fun team that may be able to squeak out some wins with their up tempo style. I'm down on the Blazers and they think they will miss the playoffs because their team is mismatched with guys meant to run (Felton, Wallace, Camby) playing a slow tempo and they have no decent bigs other than Aldridge.

I don't think there is any doubt that Miami is the run away favorite this year. Chicago looked only okay last night but Boozer will be healthy, Rose will be better and even though I didn't like the Hamilton signing, he is better than Bogans. Indy is a big surprise pick here, but I loved the West signing and I think they will add a piece before the deadline. Boston has no depth really to speak of, but I think Rondo is in for a big F-you season and he'll keep them competitive. This is kind of hedging bets with the Knicks, if they stay healthy I think they are the 3rd best team but if they suffer any injuries to Chandler, Melo or Amare (pretty likely in my book) then they'll fall.... and am I the only one who thinks that Baron Davis is done? Orlando is another hedge, they are really bad without Howard no matter what they get in return, but even with Howard checked out they will be a good team. I don't think letting Crawford go is a big deal, once Hinrich gets back, I think a Teague-Hinrich-Johnson rotation is better than one with Crawford and I think they'll bounce back a little from their poor second half last year. The 76ers will see a big improvement from Holiday and Turner and that should be enough for them to squeeze out 33 wins or so and get into the playoffs.

I agree with Green here. Boozer was active on both ends and played in the post. The length on the Lakers even without Bynum can cause Boozer problems but he remained efficient and passed effectively as well. Concerning Rip, it was just one game but I do think the offensive flow was not the match of the last preseason game. He was pretty bad defensively on Bryant getting some out of position recovery fouls. We will have plenty of games in a short window to see the impact Rip is capable of having. As for Noah, I am interested to see if he can reach the 13+ PPG he showed before his wrist injury last year but otherwise we know what we have with him. Overall an ugly game saved by Deng's big plays and Rose's finish. Ugly will be the theme across the league early.

Went to the Warrior game and surprised about the sudden jump in Clipper fans at the arena! Shocking that an LA team has bandwagon fans.
The final score didn't show how close the game was IMO. If you told me the Warriors lost the game because they couldn't score points I wouldn't have believed you. Not many games where Curry and Ellis are as off as they were last night but Curry didn't practice all week and apparently Monta's grandmother died yesterday.
As a Warrior fan some quick hits:
- Biedrins looks almost likes the Top 10 C he was before instead of the stiff he was the past two years.
- Brandon Rush is a great addition. Dude can play solid defense.
- David Lee will be a stud this year. He didn't settle for jumpers and was posting up or taking dudes off the dribble. He actually put some effort on D also.
- Not a fan of the decisions Jackson made in his first game. Too many yo yo lineups. Didn't ride the hot lineups that were responsible for keeping the game close. Too much Klay and Kwame when Biedrins and D Wright were more effective. Also seems like he's slowed down the Warriors because they didn't fastbreak much. Improvement on D so far though.
We'll see how the season goes, but after last night I think they have a chance at playoffs.

Lakers played much better than I expected, then sucked it the last two minutes (flashbacks to last year). So I was happy, but then sad when they completely gave one away at the end. You guys couldn't hit one of 4 free throws?

The first 10 min. or so of that game was some of the worst basketball I've ever seen. I was wondering if the Nets would be able to win 10 games this year.I'm not sure what's happened since. Deron caught fire and that Humphries kid plays hard. Most obvious answer, I guess, is they are playing the Wizards.This game's surprisingly quite entertaining.

The Clippers look really good. They have a great starting lineup but not a lot of depth up front. Who are the guys that might be available for them to add to give them some more depth up front?

I almost changed the channel, and then the Nets went on that run. I live in Nets territory, so I usually watch most of their games. Humphries is easy to root for, he plays really hard, always hustles. They need to get Okur going, I figured being former teammates with Deron Williams in UTah would help. Maybe he just has to shake off some rust, they are giving him good minutes right away.
