I didn't see the game last night as I'm in VA...but let's not forget he didn't play alot of basketball last year and he's a young rookie. I've seen some flashes though.What I have found very inspiring this season is Tristan Thompson. I know Jamison would only say good things, but he mentioned he's glad he won't be in the league in 4 yrs having to play against T2. All I've heard since the day he was drafted is his work ethic is fantastic. So if T2 has the tools, which it seems like he does, he's gonna get alot better (and his frame should still fill in)...and if Irving can blossom, that's a nice base to have. Throw in a top 10 pick this year, hopefully a SG or SF, and things might be on the up again for the Cavs.Derozan learned how to shoot the 3 this summer. 10 for 16 on the yearI've watched Irving play twice...
. Hopefully for the Cavs sake he gets a little better. Not seeing what made him the number 1 pick. Yes he's quick... but his shot looks ugly and his passing hasn't been that impressive. Maybe it was just two off games but you should do a little better offensively vs Calderon than 5/25.

Also, one hot commodity at the trade deadline should be Jamison. He would be a great fit for a number of teams looking to make a run this year. Seems like the perfect 6th/7th man on a playoff team (top 5/6 seeds). Will be relatively easy to get as well. He just needs to keep away from the injury bug until then.

I've watched Irving a couple of times this year and thought he looked fantastic. He doesn't have the physical tools of Wall, but he seems to have a natural speedometer that tells him exactly when to hit the gas and when to slow things down.The jumper is a work in progress, but he has good form and has already shown a decent touch from distance. Guy is going to be a mult-year all star, IMO.Derozan learned how to shoot the 3 this summer. 10 for 16 on the year

I'm not sure if this is directed at me.... but I think at this point of his career its 100% clear he isn't a point guard. He should be a shooting guard 100% of the time, albeit one with handles like a point guard and who will bring the ball up the court fairly often. After his rookie year it looked like he could be a part time point guard with some seasoning, but that just isn't the case any more.

Really small sample size, but he was an unbelievably good shooter at Duke. 18 of 39 from three on his shortened season, easily over 50% from the field overall 90% from the line. I've only seen the kid play twice that I can recall, probably caught a couple Duke games but never paid full attention. From what everyone says, the two games I've seen will be a couple of his career worst. Just saying that nothing he did really stood out. He looked small with a bad jumper. Lots of guys are quick.

Yeah, it's rough. While the team isn't loaded with talent, the problem isn't cetralized there. For the first time in a long time, the Kings have the talent to actually be competitive, imo. However, they lack discipline, focus and cohesion on the court. And the coach has to take some responsisbility for that. I'm not thrilled that Westphal got the axe, but he isn't an upper tier coach, so he is much easier replaced than a young, very talented, albeit lazy, PF/C. From a business standpoint, the right decision was made. From a basketball standpoint, the team needs something to change... so I'm ok with this being the first change implimented. -Now with all that said; the Kings might be creating a 21 year old monster in Cousins. Supposedly he has gotten away with quite a lot that the average player wouldn't dream of... all because he's a very talented big man. The Kings need a coach that can get the best out of him, but that doesn't seem to be an easy task based on his short history with the team.'Wooderson said:Good point. Why not? It gives the Kings a point guard that is a willing distributor and a very strong outside shooter to pair up with Evans in the backcourt. It also gives them Johnson who is a natural SF (and according to 82games.com played much better as a SF) and was the 4th pick of the draft a year ago to take something of a low risk flyer on because at worst he seems like a capable backup SF.If they could then get a legitimate starting center, maybe Kaman (for either Thompson or Hickson, plus a second rounder or something to dump some salary for the Hornets), they would have a legitimate NBA lineup.'thecatch said:

Calderon and Kobe will make a sick First Team All-Defense back court. Both equally deserving. And that Raptors D is no longer historically awful. Best in the league holding opponents to 39.8 OFG% and 6th best in OTS%

They could use an accomplished vet who's a good distributor - like Nash or Kidd. Move Evans to the 2. They have lots of talented guys, just not covering all the positions. It's not the number of points (or rebounds, for that matter) it's the way he looks when he's making points and rebounds. He's consistently getting great position, and when he gets the ball he's showing fine offensive touch moves I've never seen from him before.

Considering the state of the C position in 2012, that's a not terribly outlandish thing to say. A healthy Bynum can completely embarrass 28 starting C's.

Of course not. Shaq was great consistently, game after game, year after year. Bynum's only performed like this for 3 1/2 games. But in those 3 1/2 games, he is dominant and his game reminds me of Shaq.I don't know why this needs to be constantly explained to you.

That is true of Bynum's game- in the past. This year, so far, he is getting the ball in great position and creating his own shot in the paint, using his strength and bulk to push defenders aside. He's nowhere as strong as Shaq was, but it reminds me of Shaq. I'm sure to a sophisticated fan of basketball there are obvious diferences, but I am not a sophisticated fan. And as a Laker fan, I can safely say that we have not had a dominant scorer in the paint since Shaq until Andrew this year so far.
