It's definitely not the coolest city in the world but if you don't think you could have fun with that crowd of people tonight I don't know what to tell you. Time for the Riverwalk Series. Loving that Barkley has to go back and forth between the two least sexy cities in the league.

OKC is young and should get better. I don't expect Kobe and the Lakers to make it to the finals ever again.

I've lived in both OKC (well Norman) and San Antonio, I prefer OKC but like both. People are nice, nightlife is pretty decent and it's inexpensive. Hoping OKC wins this series, I might even watch it.

But seriously this team needs to be blown up. There are too many albatross contracts tied up with old players. It needs to be all or nothing and the Lakers will be a year older while the Thunder, Griz, and Clips are just starting to hit their peak.

Be careful - a buddy of mine had a bet with another friend that the Lakers were done once upon a time....the next year they traded for Shaq. So Dwight Howard looms in the background of your prediction.

Sad we lost. Glad we were destroyed. Maybe the FO will get theirs heads out of their bungholes. Expect Jim Buss to turtle head into his cave. He spoke twice this year. Both times when the Lakers looked their best. Otherwise he is a hermit.

I don't think any team is set for the future, in two years it could be anybody's conference. The Thunder have two max contracts already and after next season they'll have Ibaka and Harden looking for contracts (I would guess something similar to D. Jordan's contract for Ibaka and a max contract for Harden) and they'll still have to round out the other 9 contracts. The Clippers are going to have Paul and Griffin on Max deals, Jordan making $11m and Butler making $8m so they are pretty well stuck with what they got after next season. The Grizz peaked a season ago and have over $60m tied up with their starting lineup minus Allen with Mayo looking to get paid this offseason. Nobody is a lock to be great in a couple years because of the huge contracts they are giving out.

:no: What if the EC Finals don't start for another week and then goes 6 or 7 and the WC Finals are over in 4 or 5? You could then have the West champ not playing for close to two weeks while they wait for the East to finish. Bad idea.

I think everybody knew that Sessions wasn't the answer, he was just a massive upgrade from Blake and Fisher. Sessions is style of play is a pretty bad fit for the Lakers, I'm actually surprised it worked out as well as it did. Toney Douglas would be a good flier for the Lakers and I'm sure he would come cheap from the Knicks. He plays defense and can shoot, this year notwithstanding. I bet he bounces back next year for a different team as a solid 3rd guard.

They need somebody who can pass the ball. I wonder if there's any way to get a couple years of Steve Nash without tearing up the team. They also need a much better bench so that Kobe can get more rest during the season the way Tim Duncan does.

Tim, do you not understand that in order to pass the ball, you need to have it in your hands? Passing is the best part of Sessions' game.

That would be a smart move for Bryant to attempt, but given that Howard has been vocal about wanting to be THE guy on whatever team he is on, why would he want to go to LA and play second fiddle during the prime of his career to a soon to be declining Kobe Bryant? It would be the Shaq/Bryant problem from '04 all over again, and while, yes, those two won three titles together from 2000-2002, Phil Jackson isn't there anymore, the supporting cast ain't nearly what it used to be (as of now), Bryant is starting to slip a bit, and Howard is no Shaq. But I do think that Gasol needs to go, and possibly Bynum as well. Both showed very little heart too often in these playoffs.

This is completely off base. Understandably, since you are simply taking weak jabs at the lakers losses. Using very little basketball sense.2004 was a legit title contender. And could have been in 2005-06, maybe longer. This team was never a shoe-in to win. Last year was the Lakers last real chance at a title.

Well, the good news is that Timmy never gave up...even when it was blatantly obvious the Lakers were outclassed.

Such a fighter that kid.

That could be, but he wants to be THE guy on whatever team he is on. I believe he all but said that a few months back. He won't want to go to a team and play second fiddle to anyone. Or if he does, he won't be happy and that will get ugly quick.

I think their best shot is trying to trade Gasol for Howard. Blowing the whole thing up doesn't make sense when Kobe still has good years left. Hope you hit in low free agency/the draft, and cross your fingers. :shrug:

Bynum has better hands and more offensive moves than Howard, as well as a superior touch at the line. Unfortunately, there is a Yugo motor under the hood. Howard has a few chinks in the armor, and I can't believe I'm praying for another big man who's alergic to the FT line, but his effort and work ethic are elite.

Game 5 tonight. 13 hours from tip.

The Heat plays a balanced game tonight. I expect Mario to step up after a unsteady game 4 and Udonis may have finally found his mojo again.

Should be another tight hard fought game.

 
i didn't catch the game last night but won't say that i was surprised by the outcome. looking at the stat sheet, i can't fathom how bynum had only 4 rebounds for the game.

i was hoping the lakers would push them a little longer but oh well. it should be a great series though. i really like the parker-westbrook match up as tony might be the only guy who can stay in front of westbrook even if he's not the most effective defender. spurs depth (and home court) might be the difference in the series.

Bynum might have more offensive moves but it hasn't made him into a better offensive player because Howard is so much more athletic. I think its funny (not referring to you, TGunz) how low people are on Howard right now, a year ago there were people saying he was the best player in the NBA, now a team will never win with him. Crazy. Hes still far and away the best center in the game and the best defensive player in the NBA, sounds like championship material to me.

Andre Miller, Lou Williams, and Kyle Lowry would all have something to say about that.And for Sessions to be as effective as he can be, he can't have a SG that needs the ball in his hands as often as Kobe. Obviously for the Lakers having Kobe playing to his strengths is much more important that Sessions playing to his so he'll never play to his full potential with the Lakers.

Very impressive. Not surprising that he came out shooting, I'm pretty sure everyone expected that. It was his time to step up and "lead" his team. Apparently his idea of leading is to:1)Completely ignore teammates2)Take as many shots as possible. 3)Call out teammates (Has he done this yet? Haven't read any interviews)4)Profit from his blinded fans who see this as a good performance
