*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (2 Viewers)

Dion Waiters out of SU just shut down all pre-draft NBA workouts. Some team in the top 10 apparently promised they will be selecting him. Many believe its the Pistons.

Hope he got it in writing..

Beal's not going to make it to 7.I like Leonard a lot, but he looks good because he was on a great team. Dunno if he looks so impressive on the Nets this year.
I agree 100%. After watching Leonard for a couple years here locally, I was surprised to see some of the mid-lottery projections before last years draft. He's a good player, but has a lot of weaknesses that are masked by playing with 3 all stars. He'd have been lost in NJ or Toronto or Sacramento.

Awesome. The Pistons really need another shooting guard. Especially one that isn't projected to be a lottery pick by anyone.

Syracuse guard Dion Waiters has canceled all meetings and workouts for NBA teams prior to the June 28 draft, according to Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports. The belief is that Waiters has a guarantee from a team with a high draft pick, so he's shutting it down. There have been concerns about his character recently, but it sounds like he's going to be taken in the lottery, possibly by the Raptors at No. 8. Jun. 7 - 5:31 pm et

Happy now Cliff?

Not sure. Should I be? Know nothing about the kid.I hope the pick gets traded instead of them screwing up another pick.

A shooting guard that most sites have ranked in the 15-20 overall range. I wouldn't be too excited about using a top 10 on him. Trade the pick.

While EPSN.com projects Waiters as the No. 8 selection, CSNPhilly.com's mock draft has Waiters going one pick later – to the Pistons."Waiters has been shooting up draft boards thanks to impressive workouts in the past few weeks," CSNPhilly.com wrote. "He's one of the best pure athletes in the draft and (is) able to get to the basket at will and a very good finisher. Waiters' mid-range game is solid, but he'll need to improve his three-point shooting. "The biggest knock on Waiters is his character, something he began to address by agreeing to come off the bench last season at Syracuse. The Dwyane Wade comparison is a popular one, but Waiters is much more raw than Wade was when he entered the league."NBA.com thinks Waiters will be taken with the 14th pick, DraftExpress.com projects him going at No. 17, NBAdraft.net thinks he'll be taken with the 20th selection and SwishScout.com has him near the bottom of the first round at No. 27.SwishScout.com said the worst-case scenario is that Waiters will be a "poor man's Ben Gordon."Another reason for the uncertainty surrounding Waiters is his size. Some feel he's not big enough to be a true shooting guard but at the same time isn't capable of being a point guard in the NBA."The sophomore guard is the X factor at his position, drawing this kind of praise – 'I'm a huge Waiters fan,' gushed a Southeast exec – that might precipitate a big jump in draft postion," wrote NBA.com's David Aldridge, who ranks Waiters fourth among shooting guards behind Bradley Beal, Austin Rivers and Jeremy Lamb. "Teams think he will be a great pick-and-roll guard in the pros."'The wild card is Waiters,' said a Pacific Division scout. 'He's a little bit of hybrid. He's not a point guard but he's not a two guard. He's explosive – the most explosive by far. Can make play plays for people but it's not the number one thing on his agenda. He's someone that people see could really rise up – maybe top 10."In 71 career games – none of which he started – Waiters averaged 9.7 points, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game.

To quote the man I go to for all sports and social commentary, Stephen Jackson, "it was just good old-fashioned butt whoopin'".

That's pretty much all there was to it last night.
Jackson had another HOF night on the mic last night. He yelled "WE AIN'T GOIN' NOWHERE!" to the TNT table as SAS built up their second-quarter lead while the ball was in play. After the game, Jackson summed it all up in one amazing sentence. "It sucks, but those mother####ers were just better than us."
A wise, wise man.Simmons had some kind words about Jackson in his latest article too.

"Quick story: You mentioned that pesky Abrams kid — a few months ago, we assigned him an oral history of the Artest melee, which was an absolute ##### to report. A bunch of the principals weren't exactly eager to talk about what happened, including Reggie Miller, who would give an interview to a 15-year-old reporter from the Saskatoon Gazette if he was writing about those Knicks-Pacers wars from the 1990s, but hides under the scorer's table when he hears the words "Artest melee." Anyway, Abrams went to a Bucks game hoping to grab 10 minutes with Stephen Jackson, not knowing if Jackson would definitely speak about what happened. You know what Jackson told him? He had been waiting for someone to ask him about the melee! For years! Here's the most infamous night in recent NBA history, and here's one of the principals — one of the league's best quotes, by the way — and he's been waiting for years for someone to bring it up?????"

I can't think of a worse situation then having to watch more games involving the Celtics and these absolutely annoying fans. I hate both teams equally, but for everybody's sake please let the Heat win this series

Shame Miami will semi-squander a golden opp to expand the lead to something in the 15-20 range with Paul Pierce in foul trouble. Lebron with almost 30 points and 4 missed free throws. Great of him to acknowledge that basically Rondo is the only reason they are not getting blown out right now.

Wife keeps asking why they don't just give it to Lebron every time and win the game?...I guess the game is really that simple. How about he takes every shot until there is 5 minutes to go and then substitute him for anyone off the bench.

My impression of Doc in the locker room:

"So ummm... whose got 6?"
Crazy enough, the D is there. Other than one or two open looks, Lebron has had a hand in his face all night. He is just on tonight. Doc has to be more concerned with dumb passes. Celts are sloppy tonight.

Fans are pretty quiet tonight too.

Junkhead fan tries to boo in Lebron's ear on the way into the locker room and a Miami assistant and let's leave it at that but some guy in a gray suit walking behind him just shoves his forearm into the guy's chest and knocks him back, that was funny.

He seems different almost oblivious to anything around him tonight.

LeBron taking control here- incredible so far!
From only a scoring standpoint, that half was near perfect. That said, LeBron can't keep this pace up. I think the 2nd half comes down to whether Spoelstra realizes that not keeping a defender within 5 feet of Rondo may not be a good idea.

I still expect Miami to win the series.
Bet?
Aren't you betting on the Heat as well? Looking to pawn off some of your action?
What action? Guy has like 50 bucks in play. Lumpy's taking a 17K hit if the Thunder lose to the heat in the finals. Most folks in the wagering thread lose more than $50 in their cushions while sweating games. Who would lay off with that little in play. :lmao:
:lmao: :banned:

I didn't think about until it was just mentioned, but that's pretty funny that OKC just took out the last 13 straight WC Champions during these last 3 rounds.

That's stealing the torch in style.

Ticky tack call on Garnett IMO. he's played like a mad man, he deserves the benefit of the doubt there. he wasn't trying to intimidate Battier, they are down 15 right now.

"ARE YOU SERIOUS?!"

James starting to have the disgusted Kobe Bryant look, that look when the Black Mamba is just gonna have his way...wish Lebron could play like this all the time...of course if he could shoot 75% on a regular basis we wouldn't be here discussing game 6 in Boston right now.

#### EVERYBODY, I'M THE BEST ####### PLAYER IN THE WORLD Lebron is unreal. Why this approach/mentality only shows up occasionally is maddening.
