*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (2 Viewers)

I will be very surprised if Robinson gets a big deal in the offseason. After his rookie deal was up in NY nobody came after him and he was four years younger and coming off a better season. I think hes been under appreciated since then with his one year minimum salary contracts, but I think teams see what he is. He's a 3rd/4th guard who is a very streaky shooter, plays defense inconsistently and is something of a headache to coach, kind of like a fun size JR Smith. I will be surprised if he gets much more than a 3 year $12 million deal.
That would be more than the Bulls could offer. Unless they make major changes in the offseason, they only have the MMLE which I think is a little over $3 million per year. Too bad because he probably fits better in Chicago than elsewhere.

Will Phoenix sign Nate Rob and JR Smith to contracts in the offseason?
Terrible idea for Phoenix. Nate and JR can be good for contenders but I can't see why a rebuilding team would want anything to do with them.
Just feels like they might reach and spend some of that money when no other free agents consider playing there...
Doubtful. They have Brown under contract and a couple first rounds picks to pick up a SG. And with $53M committed, I doubt they're players in FA.

They could offer right at 3 years $10mil, which I think would be competive.

I expect the Suns to make some roster moves early in the offseason and look to trade away some of their assets. It would be awesome to watch the Suns run out Robinson, Brown, JR and Beasley all at once as they take turns dominating the ball and jacking up terrible shots.

Between Gortat, Frye, Dragic, Beasley they've already got quite a bit of money tied up.

First order of business is getting rid of Michael Beasley by whatever means. Thought that move may work out, it didn't. Move on.

I don't see them being huge players for Nate or JR. I don't even see them being huge players in FA at all (actually would be shocked). I figure they'll build off this pick in draft with hopes of landing a star in the 2014 draft, In the meantime, hope any of Marshall/Morris brothers develop. It's going to be a long long road back to even just making the playoffs.

:lmao:

And those assets would be? [Please don't say Gortat, who was outplayed by Jermaine O'neal for the better part of this season. Not that i imagined many people watched]

Scored a suite for the game tonight... figured id catch Curry now since he prob won't be back in SA till next season.

Big win for the Bulls, but how stupid is Bosh? Late in the game, he had Noah in the air, and instead of leaning into him to get two foul shots and give Noah his 6th, he ducks out of the way and takes an awful shot which misses badly.
Bosh was invisible all game. The guy is the definition of soft.Miami will still win the series. The refs will make sure of that. Bet Noah fouls out in the 3rd quarter next game. And I loathe Dwayne Wade. What a gigantic whiner. It's unbelievable how the ref a let him get away with it and don't hand him way more technicals for all his whining and yelling at them. So much for the NBA cutting down on that.
Don't ever expect anyone to take you seriously when you write stuff like this.
Give me a break. Just a few posts up a Heat fan is complaining about how "Lebron got mugged all night and didn't complain." Never mind that Lebron whined the entire night or that the Heat abused the Bulls on the other end all night. What this shows is that Heat fans are used to seeing their team get all the calls. Lebron and Wade whined and complained and threw fits all night. They're not used to not getting calls every time someone looks at them funny. In last year's playoffs the Pacers won the first two physical games where the refs called straight games and let them play playoff basketball. Then magically the Reffing crews that called the most fouls got assigned to the games and the foul disparity got lopsided. The same thing will happen here. I mean, remember earlier this season where Lebron went like 4 or 5 games without getting a foul called on him? :lmao:
Are you suggesting the refs want the Heat to win or the NBA does?

The nba would love New York and Miami, okc and the spurs. And then they would love New York and okc. That said, I don't think there will be any influencing going on.

Dragic is a nice point guard who's currently peaking as a player which doesn't match Phoenix's outlook for the next few years.

Dudley is in the same boat and is on a pretty sweet contract, I could definitely see a playoff team trading their first round pick for his services.

And for whatever you say about Gortat, he is a serviceable starting center who is on a reasonable contract with only a year left.

Scola would be a nice backup PF on a cheap contract, and while he might not take much to get in a trade, some non guaranteed contracts and a second round pick or something would be doable.

None of their assets are going get them big returns, but they should be able to get some young players on very cheap contracts and some draft picks. And after dumping some of their salary, they could turn some of that salary cap room into some draft picks.

I think the Bulls win this series too.... Miami does not want any part of this grind. Lebron looks off...Noah and Butler have him all shaken up.
Hey, look who's here! Does your offer to wager on it still stand? Read back to Monday or so in this thread if you don't remember the conversation from earlier this season. Even though the Heat are down 1-0 now, I'm still willing to make the bet! I must be some kinda sucker. You up for it?
I already have a lot of money tied up in this series with great odds through Vegas. There is probably too much injury uncertainty for me to make an straight up bet right now. Just doesnt make financial sense... maybe if you put up 130 to my 100, i would consider it.
I'd go 130 on heat to your 100 on Bulls.
I'd like to get in on this as well.
Update?

Is this still available? I'll lay 150 for your Bulls for your 100 for my Heat.

Miami would get better ratings than NY, Lebron is a bigger draw than the NY market.

I'm trying to get in on the heat as well. Dought man threw this out and then just walked away from it.

Eh....maybe. I agree James has the unparralleled star power. It would be interesting to see ratings of the two Ec series.

Who has a bigger draw nationwide:

Lebron as is in 2013

Lebron without a title in 2013 (losing to 1 of Indy/Bos/OKC last yr)

This year's version. People loved to hate on Lebron prior to him winning it, another year of him failing to win the title would have been ratings gold for the NBA this year.

I'm curious what y'all think of Webber? He seems miscast to me as a game analyst, but I'm willing to let him grow into the role. Not everyone can be Hubie Brown and Doug Collins right off the bat.

I grew to like him a lot in studio and I like him in game too. He's not very polished, but I just like him in general.

Not that I can hear him tonight. Is there something wrong with my TV or is TNT blaring the stupid organ and arena noise over Webber/Stockton?

Heat manage to notch a win tonight. Still down 1 at home, Chicago is saying "Mission Accomplished" tonight. Heat are in a war right now, luckily the bulls called off the dogs in the 2nd half tonight.

Wade should have been ejected inside of 30 seconds tonight, very poor sportsmanship throwing the ball at the Bulls after he was fouled, pure punk move I have to say. Went out to watch the game tonight, very few Heat fans. The Miami sports fan base is the worst in the country, bar none.

He's not great. Not awful. Unlike Reggie Miller, I think he can grow into the role in time.

He misses on many points/themes throughout a game. Also, Stockton is a poor choice to have him team up with - no chemistry there.

Stockton just told CWebb that something to remember is that the Warriors only have 1 timeout left....only 1. And Webber replies saying they'll need more than 1. :lmao: :lmao:

interesting game. SA had chances down the stretch but couldn't convert on good looks. green missed a wide open three. parker and manu short armed shots. good game by W's but i felt like SA had the momentum.
