I know exactly what we'd be talking about. And it was OH SO CLOSE!
I'll admit it. I thought of you when the Heat were down 5 with 28 seconds left. Would this be a triumph because LeBron came up short in the Finals again, or a setback because Duncan now has as many rings as Magic and Kobe, more than Shaq, and more Finals MVPs than either of them? And later... I usually try not to think of a single possession as what wins or loses a game, but after that terrible possession in OT when the Heat were up one and Wade called an iso for himself and missed a crappy jumper, I thought "If the Heat lose because of that it's really gonna suck for LeBron."
Off-topic: I may have a SoCal question or two for you soon. Keep an eye on your PM box.
I may have mentioned it before, but Wake Forest is the closest University to my hometown (I grew up ~ 45 minutes north) so I went to see Tim play a few times when he was there, and one of my HS buddies was friends with Tim at Wake, so I've always been a fan. Seeing him get another ring won't bother me in the least, and although Shaq's peak > Tim's peak, I'd trade Shaq for Tim 8 days a week.
I was THIS close to firing up the smug posts when the Heat were down 5 with 28 seconds last night. The subject was going to be the nervous twitching of LeBron's mouth during that timeout. I'm guessing you probably noticed it as well. I could feel LeBron's frustration - you could tell he was in shock and almost disbelief that they had blown it. And he was obviously perturbed at Bosh for not being on the same page on that lob attempt.
Out of the timeout, him missing that initial 3, especially after the late turnovers and 3 quarter no-show, and the critics were going to be out in full force. Good for him for knocking down the next 3. Bad for those of us who had "NOT 1, NOT 2, NOT 3, NOT 4, NOT 5, NOT 6...." already typed up and ready to hit "post".
I'll keep an eye out for the PMs.
