*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (3 Viewers)

Gotta feel bad for the blazers. Picked centers who are catastrophically and chronically injured over scoring machines twice.
Yea after the Jordan fiasco they had to think "well we are owed one and that will definitely never happen again"......and then it happened again.

This is worse Then the Jordan draft. That draft was in the prime of big time centers. Hakeem was coming in to the league. Sampson, kareem, Parrish were all doing work already. Ewing was on the horizon. It was totally explicable to go for the big guy. The oden draft was a two player draft and as much as horford and Conley and Noah turned out to be good, the league was clearly moving to a place where perimeter players like Kobe and wade were more important than A guy in the middle.

Guy could very well be done in the league at the age of 24.

Michael Beasley - F - Suns
Phoenix radio host John Gambadoro believes Michael Beasley has played his last game for the Suns.
Gambadoro was told a few weeks ago that the Suns would have a zero tolerance policy on Beasley going forward. Since signing a three-year, $18 million deal with Phoenix a year ago, he's been investigated for sexual assault and was booked on a pot charge early Tuesday morning. Police say they found three marijuana cigarettes in his Mercedes. The Suns could waive Beasley via the NBA's stretch provision, ridding themselves of a bad apple while they're trying to rebuild. They'd still have to pay him.

No one was taking Durant before Oden in that draft. It was like when analysts were saying Leaf was a possibility over Peyton. Duncan at age 37 was a rebound away from another title.

Number of nationally televised regular season games for next season:

Knicks 33

Bulls 33

Thunder 30

Lakers 29

Heat 27

Anyone find anything surprising with those totals?

That they have a :tfp: on there 29 times?
They call them train wrecks for a reason- people can't look away. Makes perfect sense.

I'm surprised the Nets aren't up there, but maybe they're not as interesting to casual sports fans yet. Maybe it's just the basketball nerds tracking all the offseason moves that find them fascinating.

Shabazz Muhammad got kicked out of the NBA Rookie Program for bringing a chick to his room, so he has to repeat the program next year with players who are going to be a lot better than he is.

Rockets confirm they will wear short sleeve jersey for Christmas game against spurs. Team was given an option to have them as alternates and declined. Nba making them wear them once anyway.

Man I thought he would be a great player in the association.

Sixers have supposedly offered Spurs' assistant Brent Brown their HC position and they are working out a contract, in the most pointlessly secretive exercise in the history of the world.

Sixers owner Josh Harris has reportedly agreed to buy the New Jersey Devils, leading to legions of fans on the radio griping about him owning one of the Flyers' chief rivals, along with wild speculation that he would want to move the team to northern NJ.

The Muhammed story is just odd. Turning a blind eye to PED's, which I'm fine with, but monitoring if a player brings a girl back to their hotel room. How the hell did the player's union agree to that? How is it even legal? I imagine the hotel room is paid for by the NBA i guess. Whole thing is invasive and creepy. Can't imagine Google telling their employees they can't invite someone back to their hotel room.

Heard the interview on the radio a few times yesterday with Jeannie Buss talking about her dad. Seemed like a surprisingly honest take from an exec of a major franchise.

Maybe she was tossing her brother under the bus, but it didn't really feel like that. Just stating the truth as far as I could tell.

She's got a hot voice too.

I agree. Asking professionals to not do things that are completely legal as a courtesy is one thing. Mandating it is another.

"Was that wrong? Should I not have done that? I tell you, I gotta plead ignorence on this thing, because if anyone had said anything to me at all when I first started here that that sort of thing is frowned upon..."

I'm glad my company doesn't track who I bring back on work trips.

Pekovic to sign for 5/$60
I'm confused - I thought teams only got to offer one 5 year deal.
Who is there other 5 year deal? Love only signed a 4 year deal
Right, but they only gave love a 4 year because they had marked Rubio for the 5 year deal.
Is only for extensions, teams can sign their free agents to 5 year deals and not count against that designated player thing. which makes what Minnesota did even more dumb than people think.

I've been wondering what will happen with Beasley. There's not much cap space left so he'll get a minimum or near minimum deal for sure. If he signs with a bad team, I think we'll see the same disinterested Beasley. However, might he respond well on a good team with a lot of hard-working, high character players?

Could be Blatche part 2 all over again.

I'd be pretty surprised if he gets a camp invite.

You'd think someone like the Heat would sign him to a non-guaranteed deal. Lots of vets to get on his ### if he's slacking and they wouldn't put up with any of his bull####. Doesn't hurt them any if they can cut him at any point.

Been thinking of finally taking the plunge and joining a fantasy basketball league. Never done it before. Problem is my wife is pregnant and due in late October. I'd hate to be that guy that joins a league and then misses his first draft. Anyone have an opening in a fantasy league that drafts early, preferably before Oct. 15 or so?

It's not exactly the same, but our WIS leagues are a lot of fun and I imagine the draft is going to start pretty soon.

Thanks. I'll keep an eye out, and if you need someone and haven't heard from me shoot me a PM.

T-Mac is retiring. :( I feel bad for this guy. He was riddled with too many injuries to really make the mark he could have. Loved watching him in Orlando and Houston. He was so close to the ring with SA.. Hopefully he's done enough to get in the HOF.

Was always one of my favorite players. It is a shame him and Ming could never stay healthy enough to put Houston over the top.
