Not sure what the hurry is. I'd like to see him get a little bit of rest for that knee before he attempts the big comeback. For any of you guys that are bored tonight: 7:00 Eastern, NBATV, Derrick Rose returns!
I've never found any of them personally compelling, but listening to any of them talk shop is pretty fascinating.Who, among Jordan, Kobe & Lebron, has the most character? Which one do you most admire as a person?
For me, Lebron is the clearly the class of this group. Not even close.
He exploded to the rim multiple times and the drive miss and quick jump to tap it in alleviated any of my concerns. It is all about getting into game shape now.Although Rose's statline wasn't impressive (5-12 for 13 points, 3 assists, 4 TOs) and he was clearly rusty, his speed seemed back. He's also apparently has added five inches to his vertical. Out of those 12 shots, I think only one was from the outside and that was an end of the shot clock heave. I was concerned that post-injury he'd start relying on his outside shot, but he didn't seem shy about penetrating at all. Nice start all things considered. If the Bulls stay healthy, they are certainly a contender.
Even one rotation player down (besides Rose and perhaps Noah), I think they could compete with the best.I have almost zero faith the Bulls will be close to full strength for the playoffs so I can't even talk about what they are capable of doing if they are.
I would hope that a by-product of the additional time off is that he's fully ready to go and not worried about cutting on the knee. Not to pile on, but it's not like he's rushing back from this. Agreed that they are contenders - he's just a bit of an upgrade on Nate Rob.Although Rose's statline wasn't impressive (5-12 for 13 points, 3 assists, 4 TOs) and he was clearly rusty, his speed seemed back. Honestly, I'm not sure where his 37 is coming from. At his draft combine he tested 34.5 for no-step vertical and 40.0 max vertical. He was only 19 at the time and it's not surprising he'd be better as he got into his 20s. The main point is he doesn't appear to have lost his athleticism like many others have after ACL tears. I was in "wait and see" mode when it came to his prospects post-surgery but now I'll 100% on board as a fan-boy.I would hope that a by-product of the additional time off is that he's fully ready to go and not worried about cutting on the knee. Yeah, I'd go with LeBron here as well.Who, among Jordan, Kobe & Lebron, has the most character? Which one do you most admire as a person?

I can't believe that. Magic Johnson is one of the most iconic basketball players of all time and is a billionaire. Bill Simmons is popular, but espn is not going to let him be the big dog in all that.Magic leaving ESPN, reportedly because of Bill Simmons having too much power. http://deadspin.com/sources-magic-johnson-left-espn-because-of-bill-simmon-1443543687
Losing Magic and Wilbon is a good thing, although I don't know about Doris Burke as a replacement.
No one on this forum loves Magic more than I do, but if I was running a network's basketball coverage show, I'd put Simmons behind the wheel instead of Magic. Television is far from Simmons' best medium (except for 30 for 30). But Magic's talent for stating the obvious in a confusing manner won't be missed. If we just count while they were playing, I'd go Jordan, but since retirement his dickishness has been on greater display. So then Id go lebron.Yeah, I'd go with LeBron here as well.Who, among Jordan, Kobe & Lebron, has the most character? Which one do you most admire as a person?

Exactly. I like Burke too. These are good moves.Magic Johnson was awful IMO. Wilbon too.
What a clueless tool to leave a team like he did and then get offended they didn't deny a request for the number. It is unbelievable how stupid he is.What a clueless tool to leave a team like he did and then get offended they didn't deny a request for the number.

ESPN's NBA panel shows have always been poor. I think the table has generally been too crowded. It's too many guys yelling about random stuff and laughing at each other's jokes. It's hard to break down a half of basketball in a couple of short segments because the game doesn't lend itself to being summarized in a handful of highlights. TNT errs on the side of entertainment which is probably the best way to play it.

It was a helluva run.Oden already 'held out of practice for swelling in his left knee'.
I'm more excited about Countdown with the news of Simmons getting more control. TV's not his best medium, yet. He can certainly improve with experience, like he has with everything else.Television is far from Simmons' best medium (except for 30 for 30). I kind of agree, even though I find Jalen unwatchable and skip ahead through his inane feature segment every time. Stop with this sentiment that Simmons was behind Magic leaving. If that was the case Simmons would let it be instead he has gone out of his way to say it's not the case. I really like Simmons. But he barely gets PTI gigs and to think that he is the shot-caller with regards to the on-air talent is laughable.
Magic the last guy you want to make an enemy of if you are in the NBA business. Makes me feel better about the future of the Utah Jazz franchise. The Favors deal makes me feel better about the Cousins deal.
Cousins is the better talent, but I would rather have Favors for equivalent money. The Favors deal makes me feel better about the Cousins deal.
Not saying Favors is overpaid. We live in a world where McGee makes 10m. $12M/yr for a starting center is probably pretty close to the going rate. That's McGee/Pekovic/Nene money. Cousins at $15M is more like Gasol/Chandler/Lopez money.
Boogie's the more highlight reel friendly talent, but for a franchise I hoped would contend one day, I'd prefer Favors for everything except moving merchandise. Not saying Favors is overpaid. If Favors hits his ceiling, he's a nightly 20/10 threat who also becomes one of the premiere paint lockdown guys in the NBA, against 4's or 5's. If Boogie hits his, he's a nightly 20/10 threat with occasional 30+ outbursts who's useless on D. I'd rather have the guy who has the potential to play at an allstar level both ways, and Favors is already the only one who does it pretty much every night on at least one end of the court.![]()
