I didn't get a chance to see it. What happened?Surprised no cares about this, I thought it would be a big deal (or maybe no one cares about Indy?).Saw the replay of the Hawks/Pacers scuffle. George needs to be suspended.

George (and Butler) takes a couple steps onto the court during a scuffle. Automatic suspension.I didn't get a chance to see it. The league cannot come off looking good no matter what they do. He needs to be suspended and the rule needs to be changed in the off-season.That would be a shame if George is suspended.George (and Butler) takes a couple steps onto the court during a scuffle. It's only a suspension if the NBA deems that they left the "immediate vicinity of the bench."George (and Butler) takes a couple steps onto the court during a scuffle. The Phoenix Suns and New York Knicks disagree."During an altercation, all players not participating in the game must remain in the immediate vicinity of their bench."
Seems to me they've got plenty of leeway to interpret, here. Doubt they bring down the hammer in a way that could potentially alter the entire playoff landscape.
George was about to step on the 3 point line when he was restrained. Pretty sure that is leaving the immediate vicinity. I don't think it can be much more clear. He drops his towel and heads straight towards the altercation before being restrained. It's only a suspension if the NBA deems that they left the "immediate vicinity of the bench."George (and Butler) takes a couple steps onto the court during a scuffle. One shoe onto the court hardly seems like it's outside the immediate vicinity.
Butler was further onto the court and may see a suspension, but I doubt George does.
The Hawks should probably be concerned though as Antic was much further off the bench than Butler or George.

Didn't Patrick Ewing get suspended from a playoff game for walking in the opposite direction from the fight?I can't think of a time anyone got suspended for being one foot onto the floor under this rule. All the other guys were much further onto the court

Haven't seen any video of Antic, but if he left the bench then he should be suspended as well.
I think you need your vision checked. He clearly has two feet inbounds and is about to step on the 3 point line before being restrained. And he was sixteen inches from where he was standing by the bench when the play began, with a coach between him and the action, and doing nothing more than sauntering. I think you'd have to stretch pretty hard to make a case he did leave the immediate vicinity. Hardly "automatic," and not even close to the kind of letter-of-the-law slam dunk the Ewing/Houston fiasco brought about.I think you need your vision checked. I think George Karl would be an ideal fit for Golden State. It'd be interesting to see what he could do with the Warriors. I don't think he'd get them farther along in terms of winning due to his inability to coach D, but the scoring would be off the charts.Rubio can't shoot though. Is it me or would mike dantoni have a little success with his offense using players like Ricky Rubio and Kevin love? Would he be a Minnesota candidate? Less glaring spotlight then his last two jobs for sure.
Competition like this is why Washington should have fired Wittman and hired Karl months ago.I think George Karl would be an ideal fit for Golden State. It'd be interesting to see what he could do with the Warriors. Except for Marv Albert mentioning it about every five minutes last night you mean, particularly after O'Neil got hurt?Great win by the Dubs. Excited for a game 7. What's lost in all this crap with Sterling and the superstar status of Paul and Griffin is that the Dubs are doing all this without Bogut.
He's definitely in the top 3 defensive big men and on offense we miss his killer screens.
Thank God Mark Jackson still has Iggy, Draymond, and Klay to use on defense.
Missed that since I was at a bar that was playing the local feed. Even then it hasn't gotten much press from the national media.Except for Marv Albert mentioning it about every five minutes last night you mean, particularly after O'Neil got hurt?Great win by the Dubs. As a pseudo Bucks fan, I guess I'm just used to Bogut being hurt all the time, so it doesn't seem that noteworthy.Missed that since I was at a bar that was playing the local feed. I don't know if Iggy would want to play for Karl again.I think George Karl would be an ideal fit for Golden State. It'd be interesting to see what he could do with the Warriors. He pulls too many ##### moves and it is catching up to him. Example, his hip lock move where he flops and pulls the opponent on top of him is just gross. And he does that #### ALL the time.True, but he does get the crud beat out of him legitimately (with not so many calls) as well.Griffin is a massive flopper (head jerk on every drive pretty much), so I think there is a bit of boy who cried wolf going on.It hasn't been like this all series. Guys are hacking Griffin every time he gets the ball with few calls.I was just gonna ask if it's been reffed like this all game. Didn't catch the first half, but in the last 4 possessions they called goaltending on Lee when Jordan touched the ball on the rim. They called a ticky tack foul on Green and then they called Thompson for a foul after Deandre shoves Lee under the basket on a rebound. Don't like it.More ticky-tacks on Lee and Green just like the rest of the series. Jordan shoves Lee under the basket and Lee gets rung up.
Jackson can't coach defense or offense and they seem to be doing well. I guess we interpret 'immediate vicinity' differently. I see him leaving the bench and coming onto the court as leaving the immediate vicinity especially when the altercation is taking place right there. And he was sixteen inches from where he was standing by the bench when the play began, with a coach between him and the action, and doing nothing more than sauntering. I don't think either team matters at this point, but I seriously don't see anything happening here.
The only travesty would be if they ding Butler but leave George alone, IMO.
Suspended for life, contracts revoked. If Stern were still commish, it would be an automatic suspension, but it remains to be seen if Silver will be as "no tolerance" on this issue as Stern was.
Well, if there's an authority on stupid, you're it. Thanks for your input once again! As you have demonstrated time and again, people are welcome to post any stupid thing they want. It's just that others are equally free to call out stupidity.I don't think anyone is allowed to ever question calls in this thread. Something about the bylaws say the calls even out over time or some such...

You're right, you pretty much nailed it here. So silly that someone suggested that the #1 seed was clearly weaker than the #2 seed. Glad you put them in their place- pretty even sounds about right. My apologies. How is the #1 seed CLEARLY weaker than the #2 seed?
Even record head-to-head
Better conference record
Went to a game 7 last year
I'd say pretty even. But I am a![]()

A touch is not the same as a tap.....and they let it go constantly. I think the reason Blake got nailed was the poor angle the official had on the play and the way Iggy went down like he was shot by a sniper.Griffins 6th has been a POE for over a decade. An elbow/knee/hip tap on a jump shooter gets called more often than not.Warriors got two BIG calls down the stretch.
1) Griffin's 6th on Iggy's 4 pt play. He just touched him on the hip. I see refs let that go all the time.
2) Reddick's 6th on that block call. That is about as 50/50 a call as there is. JJ is sliding, but Barnes lowers his shoulder into his chest.
Those are 2 tough breaks that lead to 3 points in a 1 posession game.
Reddick was going down before the contact, you can tell by the way he lands. If he waits and takes in the chest he will slide back, not go splat straight down.
Neither did Amare, Diaw or Ewing. No way should George be suspended.....he didn't do enough to warrant any discipline.
Exactly. Those Suns players were further away from the altercation involving Nash and Horry than George was last night.Neither did Amare, Diaw or Ewing. No way should George be suspended.....he didn't do enough to warrant any discipline.
You should try it in a rec league sometime, it's awesome. The best part is if you nail it once you can mess up the guys shot just by getting close as he will adjust vertically in anticipation of the next one. That being said, a touch can be just as effective as a tap and is the reason it is called as often as it is.A touch is not the same as a tap.....and they let it go constantly.Griffins 6th has been a POE for over a decade. I've played a ton of basketball in my day....HS, college, pickup and rec leagues. No amount of touching my leg while I shoot has ever effected my shot. You should try it in a rec league sometime, it's awesome. I have never tried the leg, don't wanna push too hard and jack the guys leg on the landing. Now a backhand nut shot on the other hand..... :X
That's because what happened last night happened right by George's bench, prompting him to shuffle a tiny bit from where he'd been standing. Diaw and Stoudemire were rung up because the league determined they'd gone 20-25 feet from their benches. (ETA: See story here for confirmation -- http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playoffs2007/news/story?id=2871615 )Exactly. They probably gave John Wall a few extra points because his mom brought the orange slices for halftime.Well isn't this cute. The Washington Harry Potters get pretty stickers every time they try real hard!
