*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (6 Viewers)

Maybe the league figures sterling would open his mouth again and make their job easier in the end
Could be. He topped it off tonight. He becomes less desirable each time his mouth opens. I think they'll make the move after the playoffs are over, or the soonest, when the Clips are out. They did what they needed to do to pacify everyone so let the playoffs go on drama free as can be.

Heat are toying with the Nets! Down 3 in the 4th with LeBron sitting at 40. Got them right where they want them.
Seems in close games Heat like getting down some and then making a big bang. It's like they are bored being ahead all the time until it gets down to it, which even if they lose this game, they won't lose the series!

Garnett is soft as Charmin! He should have exploded to the hole there and got fouled or scored.

Time for LeBron to show him how to do it.

David West is an underrated whiner.

Wizards with a lot of boneheaded plays down the stretch, particularly from the backcourt. This is going to be a good learning experience for Wall and Beal.
Whines consistently more than anyone I can remember watching. Absolutely one of the most annoying players in the league. I ant think of anyone worse off the top of my head.
Do you not watch Blake Griffin?
More floppy than West, less whiny.

Well, the Heat are clearly the best team in the league. Clearly.
Vegas agrees with you.
Is Pyzza always like this?
No, but I find it pretty disgusting when all the ball washers climb on the Heat like they're head and shoulders above the rest of the league. They played an injured Jefferson in rd. 1 and are battling the #6 seed now. They are very good, but it's silly to say they're clearly better than the Pacers or any other team left in the playoffs.

It's not like Atlanta or the Wiz are a great draw from a fan's standpoint.

Next round prices will skyrocket! (Provided there is a next round)
You'd like to think that a #1 seed wouldn't need to rely on the opponent to be the draw. I suspect the Spurs don't have $7 tickets available just because the opponent is Portland.
San Antonio is just a bit larger than Indianapolis. Market size is going to play a big role in ticket prices. Cost of living is another big one. Tons of money in places like Miami, NYC, LA, San Antonio, etc. Not so much in Indy.
The bustling metropolis of San Antonio!

Last time I thought the game was a forgone conclusion, there was an epic comeback. I'm turning this one off, just for Curly.
:sadbanana: Spurs took the night off, but butts will be kicked in the next game! :pickle:
How long you lived I'm San Antone?
Never. Same with Miami.Portland is funny. All the confetti for winning 1 game!
Lots of confetti in Portland. Feel free to root for us when Duncan et al retire and Labron signs with the Lakers. Front running band wagoners always welcome here.

Nobody has said they're head and shoulders above the rest of the league- in fact I'm not sure anyone has said they'd take them over whoever comes out of the West. I certainly haven't. Quit making things up, acting like an oversensitive crybaby and ruining what is usually awesome thread in the middle of the playoffs.

Vegas disagrees with you...
"Vegas" isn't a poster here.

Also, do you seriously not understand the difference between saying a team is head and shoulders above everyone else and saying that they are the favorite to win the title? If so I would be happy to explain it to you.

I'll put in a res.

:lmao: :lmao:

Nothing wrong with your post..I have just never heard my beloved city compared to the likes of NYC, Miami, LA at anything. There's gotta be more money in Indy. We have a bunch of military bases and some taco joints.

I worry about our ability to keep the team in SA when the Big 3 eventually call it day.
but then what will you guys get insanely oversensitive about?
:goodposting:

For a franchise with 4 rings our fanbase has a very small penis. Its frustrating.

They're pretty similar, market-wise, but in SA the money is a lot more concentrated, plus the Spurs are the only game in town, and they've been good for a couple decades straight. It's a recipe for ticket inflation. Same reason some high schools football teams can charge and arm and a leg for tickets, while other places literally give them away, just on a bigger scale.

I'd certainly want to go to Spurs games if I lived in SA. When I lived near Indy, I preferred the Hoosiers.

God I can't wait for the ECF......should be fun banter going on in here between Nug's, myself and Pizztyme.

I am sure Abe and Cliff can't wait. :sarcasm:

@WojYahooNBA: If a deal's reached in Detroit to make Stan Van Gundy president/coach, he's looking closely at hiring Otis Smith as GM, sources tell Yahoo.

:excited: Uh, never. There's not one player on Portland that I like and I root for players on a team that I like. I'm sure LeB will go to a team that is going to be a zero for at least a few years with no one there to build around him. Even if Kobe sticks around for a year or two, he's on the decline.

@sgw94: RT @WojYahooNBA: Stan Van Gundy and Detroit are negotiating on a five-year, $35M deal, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

Who doesn't like Damian Lillard? How is that even possible?

"Well, I have an offer from Golden State too."

"Really, how much?"

"Two years, 50 grand...I'm intrigued."

"We will give you FIVE YEARS AND SEVEN MILLOIN DOLLARS PER YEAR!"

"Uh...I don't know...the Bay Area is pretty nice and Detroit is, well, Detroit."

The Pistons are hoping their unique offer of personnel control on top of the coaching duties -- something Van Gundy never had in his previous coaching stops with the Miami Heat and Orlando Magic -- will convince him to bypass the opportunity to coach his hometown Warriors.
So SVG is going to turn down a good job with his hometown team for an awful job in Detroit, just so he can have control over personnel decisions, which he'll then turn over to Otis Smith, the guy who ruined his last coaching job with bad personnel decisions. Brilliant.

It's a team FULL of likable guys. Anybody who has been tasked with covering this team will tell you that to a man, Nicola Batum is the greatest guy in spots; terrific interview.

Yeah but I can understand how someone might hate a Frenchman no matter who it is. Lillard, on the other hand ... maybe Weber State has some sort of rival I don't know about?

Robin Lopez too. I mean the guy picks fights with the league's mascots. That's just outstanding. Maybe if you had nightmares about Sideshow Bob as a kid or something.

Didn't Batum nut punch someone in the Olympics?
