Yes. He was out of shape and dealing with shoulder sorenes and had slipped to 6-8 in most mocks. Some people were championing VO for having the highest floor in a draft of no sure things. To be fair, the other guys at the top of some mocks were Otto porter and Alex Len. Noel slid for some reason - he was the #1 until injury.

It was considered a head scratcher, but nobody seemed to feel very strongly about anyone in the draft. Oladipo was considered pretty NBA ready, but people questioned the upside somewhat. Noel was kind of the "prize" earlier on, but his injury dimmed some of the excitement.

But just the fact that they took a guy nobody really saw going first, AND he sucks is why they get guff for it.
