Two 2015 first rounders and $1.5M to a team like Utah or Philly would almost certainly get it done. They may even be able to get it done for less. Jeremy Lin isn't a bad player and the contract isn't going to kill a team because its only for one year. For Utah or Philly, who are going to be close to the salary floor anyway, they would be buying two first rounders for something like $6M in my scenario.

yup. I was listening to something the other day and they were takling about the Sixers trying to trade MCW. They were saying how there is probably only about 5-6 teams that really need a PG at this point, and that the league is filled with adequate PGs for about 23 teams or so

Yup. I don't know why Philly wouldn't do this in a heartbeat. Hinkie still has love with Houston too, and i think it would help both teams in their own way

Only smart if he wants attention. If he was a real man he'd stay with the same team his whole career no matter what options he had even if they were much better and he had all the leverage and could do whatever is best for him in order to play on a contender and win titles. I mean, he's barely even a man for trying to put himself in the best situation to win. First player ever to do that. All for attention and because he's a terrible human and not clutch nor gritty. Look at Tim Duncan - stayed with the Spurs no matter what. What a guy.

In the West? They are likely lottery-bound regardless. Likely Asik for a lottery pick. Nuts. This is how you eventually lose a generational talent. Davis just turned 21. Be patient and build smartly around him. Don't make knee-jerk moves to try to win when you're not ready. Evans signing and now this. Asik a FA after next season. Now you raise expectations. They will miss the playoffs and have no lottery pick and face paying Asik big money. Amateur.
Would be surprised to see Cleveland not take Parker. They are one team in particular that cannot roll the dice with Embiid. Trading down to #4 unlikely. Trading down to #3? Could see that if they are enamored with Exum.
Enough with the worrying about Irving. He's not going anywhere for a long time unless Cleveland says so.

To be an average NBA defender, for 95% of the NBA players, all they need to do is put the effort in. If they were to put the effort both on the court, and in practice to understand the defensive concepts, they wouldn't be bad.
Especially for a perimeter player. A weak big can be exposed defensively. A perimeter defender all about effort. Of course their are exceptions. But those lock-down perimeter defenders who have enough on offense are few and far between.

That's just a horrible contract given where Wade's at now, but I don't know if they have a choice. If he opts in, they're probably done winning titles for the next two years, even if James does stay.
Assuming Wade doesn't make 10mm a year the two years after his opt-in, he's effectively getting a raise. That's crazy.

That article is a waste of time. As if Wade and Bosh would take pay cuts while Lebron doesn't. How do you even waste your time writing about ramifications that are not within the realm of reason?

I've mentioned this before just a hypothetical. But say Wade opts in and Bosh opts out heading towards FA would Miami entertain a Rose for Lebron deal?
At that point Lebron is gone. You can either let him walk or get Rose in a deal. Rose at 3/60mill. Former MVP and just turned 26. I know Miami would not be looking to build around Rose but having the asset better then Lebron walking and getting nothing. Rose comes back and establishes himself and you have a major trade piece.
Lebron, Carmelo and Noah in Chicago.
Lebron gets a max deal in a major market. Miami gets an asset. What is a better scenario for Miami if Lebron leaves? What is a better scenario for Lebron if he does leave?
Rose value so low right now. ACL two years ago. A repaired torn meniscus. Didn't cut it out. Healed it. Yeah it's not pretty but he's 26 and those are not devastating injuries. People seemingly writing him off. Great buy low.

What's in it for Lebron? Either he can sign there and play with Rose or he can get traded there and play with some mid level pg like sessions or something? Doesn't make much sense from his prospective.
I don't know how about Lebron, Butler, Carmelo, Noah and Gibson with Thibs at the helm. Not to mention max dollars for Lebron.
If Lebron and Carmelo wanted that to happen it would. Just up to them. Unless you think Miami would prefer to let Lebron walk away and get nothing as opposed to getting Rose in return.

I could see both sides doing that, if LeBron wanted to go to CHI. MIA would do the sign and trade if he leaves.
But I've never taken any LeBron-CHI rumors seriously. Just can't imagine him wanting to play there.

Would stay in the East. Great coach. He gets max deal. Carmelo seemingly interested in Chicago. Is Houston or going back to Cleveland seem more plausible?

I'm not saying there aren't great reasons, or that other places are more plausible, I just still can't really buy that he'd go to CHI.
It's not why I think he wouldn't go there, but I'm not sure Thibs is an asset for getting LeBron either.
I think he just needs to go to ATL and be done with it, clearly I have no clue what he'll do.

This hasn't even been rumored that I know, but in this hypothetical world of LeBron/Carmelo both going to CHI, I don't see why CHI would need MIA's help. Every contract on CHI's roster (except Boozer) is fairly easily dumped elsewhere.
Hell, Asik just got dumped. And HOU got a possible lottery pick for their troubles.

Barely a mention, though. I thought when it finally happened it would be bigger than the Finals around here.
Does anyone know the exact terms of the protection on the pick? Steal for the Rockets regardless, just curious.

I'm here. I don't believe I ever said they couldn't get rid of those contracts; I even gave a few simple trades that would work. Definitely thought they'd have to package them with something else though. That is a pretty terrible deal for the Pelicans.

How about CHA and HOU agreeing to some players HOU will take with the #25, then trading that player along with the Peli pick, Jones, and Lin to CHA on Friday or Monday (whenever the Peli's are cleared to resume pillaging their future)?
