I get Melo to the Knicks for more than money.

If that's a home of sorts for him, it's not much crazier than LeBron going to one of the most dysfunctional organizations in sports.

It's a wasted year, sure, but if CLE doesn't get Love, LeBron getting a ring this sesaon is unlikely, imo.

A year from now, NYK is a great spot to be.

The real difference is that LeBron makes every team a real contender, and Melo does not. There's no shame in not being LeBron.

IMO, there's no way the trade happens without the basics being Love for Wiggins + pieces. That said, I don't think we're going to hear anything near official RE: Wiggins until it is about to go down. You don't want to start your relationship with your future star with publicly almost trading him before he even signs.

Yeah, that's probably not fair, but at the very least, Melo isn't the only star to pass on what everyone agrees is a ready made title contender. Not having a full max really makes it unfair to say.

Not offered but T-Wolves seemingly just got a bunch of chips. For one, Love is a proven commodity while you are still taking a risk on Wiggins so assuming he signs an extension, I see no reason not to do it. Beyond that, if that is what it takes to get LeBron and win now, you have to do it. I love Wiggins but Love easily pushes them as ECF favorites.

And T-Wolves could always go to Boston and use the pieces Cleveland just traded and just take the draft picks which might be better than some combo with Waiters/Bennett.
