*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (5 Viewers)

I hope the Spurs get Gasol so Duncan can play fewer minutes and stay fresh all season.
Once they resigned Diaw, I'm thinking this might be less likely, but we'll see.
I'm a fair-weathered fan of the NBA these days - Is Gasol a significant upgrade over Splitter? I'm assuming Gasol would come at the expense of Splitter.

My opinion, Splitter is a tad over paid, so long as its ignored that he's a 7' footer, but he looked super-comfortable playing his role in the playoffs.

It's all no-lose for me.

Please, please let LeBron go to Cleveland, Bosh to Houston & Melo go to Chicago. That would make next season awesome.

Just for fun on a friday. Was reading an article and it mentioned a couple neat stats...

Triple-doubles in the same game by teammates. Has only happened by two sets of teammates.

Can you name the four players?

5 blocks & 5 steals in a single playoff game. Has only happened two times.

Can you name the two players?

I don't know why he doesn't go to the Lakers

He already has the rings, why not lead the Lakers back to the promised land and be involved with battling the best teams in the league night after night(including a good crosstown rival) playing for one of the great franchises in the history of the league. This seems to be a much better way to cement his status as the best ever. All the LA benefits as well - TV, movies, clothing, etc.
They can't afford him?
Even without Pau?
So....Kobe, LeBron and?
Actually, Randle and LeBron. Kobe's a non-factor, especially if you're looking further ahead than next season, which presumably LeBron is doing.
This - plus a few other midlevel guys and when has the tax ever hurt the Lakers - especially when Kobe and LeBron are there.
I don't think they can even reach the tax right now.

I really hope LeBron takes all weekend before announcing his decision. He's a savvy dude, and if he cares about ratings/attention, he'll do it Sunday night.

Because Utah's matching on Heyward, and I doubt those spiteful bastards do it a second before they have to (as they shouldn't. no reason to help the Hornets).

I would imagine that as soon as he decides, a rash of moves will take place. Not in the next 24 hours, but rather as fast as the teams can fax the league. Asik trade, Lin trade, bosh signing Melo signing deng signing etc etc etc. I suspect most teams and free agents have a couple contingencies in place and the dominos will fall fast.

No, this is on the media. They have completely ####ed this up. LeBron hasn't said much of anything. I swear this #### is worse than The Decision.
He can't win either way. Haters gonna hate.

Now sources say this would have been over already but for the Gilbert letter according to Stein.

Do we think Lebron and Wade talked about it all day yesterday?

In other news Donald Sterling got off the stand after testifying today, called his wife a "pig," dropped mic and walked off stage. Classy.
I have enjoyed the LeBron saga because it's pretty funny and it doesn't really affect my team one way or the other. But the worst thing about it is that it's taking attention away from the Sterling trial. Holy #### is it amazing. If you haven't been reading the updates, check it out.

Revisiting Bargnani to the Knicks for a minute.

To NYK:

Bargnani

To TOR:

Camby (waived)

Novak

Q Richardson (waived)

1st round pick (2016)

2 2nd round picks (2014/2017)

According to multiple rival executives, getting a team to absorb Bargnani's contract would likely cost at least two first-round picks. Given that the Knicks' 2016 pick already goes to Denver or Toronto (from the Anthony and Bargnani trades), Jackson would likely have to part with promising shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr. to obtain another one. Knowing the pressure is on Jackson to make a deal to appease Anthony, rival teams might ask for more -- such as Iman Shumpert, one of the executives said.
God would that be about the Knickest thing the Knicks could do. Give up 3 picks to get Andrea Bargnani, then send out another 2 firsts to get rid of him a year later.

That Bargs trade was likely the greatest transaction in franchise history. I was in disbelief when it happened and time has only made it even more astounding.

Woj put up a LeBron update a couple hours ago. Link
Unreal that he might #### all over Cleveland yet again
He literally hasn't said a word about where he'll play next year, nor has he authorized anyone to say a word on his behalf, and no decent NBA reporter (Woj, Stein, Windhorst if it's LeBron) has said it's been decided. Cleveland's sports fans are doing this to themselves by believing shoddy unsourced stories and hilarious stuff like the cupcake store report and the web site colors thing.

They might all turn out to be true, but if they're not that's not really LeBron's fault.

Also these latest reports like the stuff on the Woj piece are pretty clearly being put out there by the Cavs probably to pressure him into a commitment (or maybe just because someone is gossipy). Can't put that on LeBron either.

Did you read Woj's post? LeBron's agent isnt representing Lebron? The Cavs decided to trade away players and picks for nothing without ever hearing from Lebron's camp? Give me a break.

Like I said that's all clearly being leaked by the Cavs- did you miss the word "privately" in the stuff from his agent, not to mention the fact that it says Paul has been pushing LeBron to move back, not that LeBron has pushed for it? LeBron has done absolutely nothing to get Cleveland's hopes up- in fact I'd say the opposite, he's been very careful not to do so.

At a minimum he does deserve some blame for being so slow in making a decision. Particularly the anxiety he's creating for his fellow NBA free agents that are waiting in limbo.

Bosh obviously is waiting on Lebron. To keep the team together. Lebron dragging this out is weak sauce.

If Bosh is fine because Lebron has informed him that he is coming back to Miami then Lebron really doing Cleveland wrong.
