*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (3 Viewers)

I guess the guy figures if he retires a Cav and brings them at least 1 ring, he might have the greatest legacy of any player from Ohio.

Have to say this makes me a Lebron fan. I loved him early on but the whole Miami debacle really soured me. Since then he's become formally one of the best players ever, although I do believe his ascent was slowed in the pantheon of all timers by this past year.

If he can bring Cleveland a championship, sky's once again the limit. Gonna root for the Cavs I admit.
You nailed it.

Seconded.

Agreed. 100%.

He's gone in less than an hour I bet.
Him and Bennett is probably enough (with an add in or two) salary wise. Didn't mention Bennett although that might just be because it's Anthony Bennett.
Doesnt Varejao have to be included for salaries to work? No chance they can trade him though after what Lebron just said about him in that letter

Right, but for "bigger pieces", we're essentially talking about 3 players, and one of those really doesn't need to know where LeBron's going to decide (Melo).

It's also a limited number of teams involved. For LeBron/Bosh, we're talking about 3 teams that can't move until LeBron decides. For all of those 3 teams, if they don't land the big ticket they hope for, there isn't some other big move they are making.

For the ancillary moves, the Jack move is done. Philly being in limbo with Lin isn't holding them up.

The 27 teams that know they won't be getting LeBron or Bosh can pretty much go about their business for the mid-tier FA's.

Dallas was a big name in all of this, and the knew enough to remove themselves completely for 3 days.
I disagree. What happens has pretty big reverberations throughout the rest of the league. Where Parsons ends up probably has a big impact of FA's to either Houston or Dallas. What happens could conceivably effect Pau in a big way. And even someone like Deng or Stephenson who might not be directly effected by it have no reason to sign now b/c only good things can happen from their perspective.
Right, but these mid-tier moves aren't really that effected by LeBron. Unless Lance/Deng/Ariza are planning to follow him to Cleveland (highly unlikely). If anything, Melo's probably holding up Ariza, and the CHA/Hayward thing is holding up Lance.

LeBron's certainly not holding Parsons up. That's getting resolved as fast as it would've no matter what (and a hell of a lot faster than HOU had hoped).
Right. Unless? Probably?

And Melo is waiting for Lebron. All these deals go quickly as soon as, well you know, Lebron does something.
Somebody didn't refresh the thread. :lmao:

There's really no good reason for Melo to worry about what LeBron does.

As a life long Heat fan I would be lying if I did not say I am in shock. Shocked he walked away from the incredible success he and the team had down here.

So here we are again. And we must rebuild. Not re-tool.

Bosh is no doubt on his way out the door. So we are in shambles.

Oh well. I will still be watching, rooting and cheering for my team. And hopefully Riley can make some moves over the next couple of years to get us back into contention.

But yeah I am completely and utterly shocked.

Listening to Cleveland sports radio and they still don't know this is up.
Kind of want to listen in to hear them lose their minds. Recommendations?
ESPN 850 til 1 will be silly. Bull and the Fox on 92.3 from 2-3 then double back to 850 at 3 for Hooley and Jerrod. Channel surf from there. If you're near a radio tonight Carmen after 7 on 92.3 will probably be great too.

I usually don't listen to sports radio during the day, but I may sneak out to listen to the opening of the Bull and the Fox. Dustin Fox has been kinda nuts about this all week.

I just don't see how people DIDN'T think it would have happened.....if not this year, then soon. Him going back is in the script to being the GOAT....

Would love to see LaLa's face if Melo asks her if they can move to Cleveland and join LeBron

No. They could trade 3 of their guys on rookie contracts making approx $5 million (Thompson, Waiters, Bennett, Wiggins). But the trade rule is it has to be within $5 million of Love's contract so two of them with a Haywood and/or Hopson would likely get it done.

I was a Lebron hater. Mainly because I'm not a fan of people saying they are the greatest player ever, but not being able to win on their own. So when he left Cleveland, it seemed to me like he was admitting defeat. But I get that players want championships. So, that's cool. He got his rings. And those rings are really for him. No matter what happens next, he can always say he is a champion.

But I like that he's going back to Cleveland. If he wins there, people will forget all about The Decision.
