Missed this before. Glad I'm getting shout outs. :)

If these are Lebron's intentions then more power to him. If hypothetically Irving and Love (presumably based on what we know today) end up getting ravaged by injuries and aren't the same players, and yet they have all of their non Lebron cap money tied to them and almost not shot at a title, it would be terribly surprising if he just rode it all out due to some loyalty to Cleveland fans. But if those are his intentions and he's simply not locking himself up long term while he waits for the new TV deal and cap situation, that's very nice. I have a hard time believing that no matter what he's saying at charity events, which isn't exactly binding, but if it is the case I've misjudged him and more power to him.

I think it was NCAA Division I requirements that he was failing to meet, not the school's. His GPA sucked (either that or he is really, really dumb) and he was taking one of the standardized tests (ACT or SAT), bombed it the first time, had a huge jump the second time (likely from cheating), and bombed it the third time, so he went to Europe. If he had a #### GPA, the requirements for the ACT/SAT score aren't terribly forgiving (1010 SAT for a 2.0 GPA).

 
Interesting. I didn't realize places like the University of Arizona had any admission standards beyond, "if you can locate campus..."

As long as you aren't as dumb as Jennings, and can cheat on the test the first time (just like Derrick Rose), its not a problem.

In general, I think NBA players are relatively clean (partially because the NBA has chosen not to care about marijuana), but there have been some dark moments that were all magically dropped before trial. These have all happened within the last five years:

Lance Stephenson threw his girlfriend down some stairs; charges dropped; no suspension

Jordan Hill choked his girlfriend; entered a plea bargain; no suspension.

Andray Blatche has a solicitation and sexual assault charge; charges dropped; no suspension

DeAndre Liggins assault with a deadly weapon and kidnapping; he's going to marry the victim - preparing to return to the NBA this season

Jared Sullinger assault charge dropped; no suspension

James Johnson beat up his wife, charges dropped; no suspension

Dante Cuningham arrested twice (choking assault and terroristic threats), charges dropped

I'm not getting much traction - the writer responses so far have been pretty much...charges dropped, nothing to see here. I just think there's too many of these cases that are conveniently dropped when the victim fails to appear in court or help the prosecution.

From local MN radio, this is the supposed deal to be announced end of day Sat:

Kevin Love, Alexey Shved, Luc Mbah a Moute and 1st round pick (unclear which) out from MN : Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett, Thad Young and 'cap exception' in as part of a three team deal.

Source: Dan Barreiro (good connections to Wolves higher ups)

Edit: End of day Sat, not 'tomorrow'.

Definitely. Not sure what a max for LeBron is this summer, but at worst, the Cavs have to get rid of one or two of Bennett, Thompson or Varejao. Should be easy to do as all 3 contracts are either over or can be 'terminated' after this year. Much more realistic than most scenarios being tossed around IMO.

I knew the Sixers wouldn't get a lot for Thad but 2 expiring deals and probably a late 1st round pick seems pretty bad. Is there more value there than I'm giving them credit for?

I'd disagree. Getting a first for a low end starting PF on a slightly high contract is a pretty good deal for Philly. Young just isn't that good :shrug:

And the pick will probably be late teens which isn't terrible. Or even higher if Wade gets hurt.

 
I probably overrate Young because he looked good compared to most of his teammates for the past few years. Sort of a tallest midget in the circus thing.

He's a nice player but teams are stingy with their first rounders. I think it's a pretty nice haul given the market.

 
I really don't understand that move from Minny's perspective (other than continuing a tradition of making bad moves). You're getting Bennett and Wiggins so you should be building with young players around them since you're not winning a damn thing for the next few years. Giving up a 1st round pick for a guy who isn't going to move the needle at all makes zero sense. Young can also walk after this season (doubt it).

Someone help me out with this.
