*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (7 Viewers)

I really don't understand that move from Minny's perspective (other than continuing a tradition of making bad moves). You're getting Bennett and Wiggins so you should be building with young players around them since you're not winning a damn thing for the next few years. Giving up a 1st round pick for a guy who isn't going to move the needle at all makes zero sense. Young can also walk after this season (doubt it).

Someone help me out with this.
Almost guarantee he will. He's as good as Jordan Hill and Zach Randolph, who got $9m and $10m a year, respectively.

I knew the Sixers wouldn't get a lot for Thad but 2 expiring deals and probably a late 1st round pick seems pretty bad. Is there more value there than I'm giving them credit for?
I'd disagree. Getting a first for a low end starting PF on a slightly high contract is a pretty good deal for Philly. Young just isn't that good
Plus, hes likely to opt out of his contract after this season.
Think so? I can't see him getting more than $10m as an FA.
I would think that he would get a 3 or 4 year deal for somewhere in the $8-10m/yr range. It would probably be worth losing a million or two in 2015 to secure a longer contract.

Hill got that deal so that the Lakers could have a big un-guaranteed deal next summer to trade. I don't see how Young is as good as ZBo. In a couple years or if ZBo really starts to slow down, yes. But Zbo was the far better player last season, likely for this season and the next.

Randolph was far better on the glass last year, but otherwise they were pretty similar statistically. The difference is, I think Randolph forces an offense to be less inefficient, regardless of surrounding talent, whereas Young could play in an efficient offense where he isn't the focus (similar to a guy like Faried). Randolph is a power forward who can't play extended minute at center, but he requires the ball down on the block. It completely ####s up an offense, even on an offense with a versatile center like Gasol.

It was kind of strange to me to see people applaud Randolph's contract while nearly everybody was mocking Al Jefferson's contract last year. Jefferson was something like 5 years younger than Randolph will be when his extension kicks in next year, and they have very similar games other than Jefferson just does it so much better.

I guess we as Wolves fans have to hang our hats on the hope that Thad will be a much better player in this system than in the Philly system. I think its pretty widely known that Thad wasn't a good fit there.

Also, it sounds like the Wolves went from giving Bennett to Philly to giving the 1st round pick. I like that. Now you can bring along Bennett more slowly by starting Thad and if he does come through on some of that promise, Thad can opt out and ride off into the sunset.

PG: Rubio/Mo Williams/Barea

SG: K. Martin/Budinger/Lavine

SF: Wiggins/Brewer/Muhammad/Hummel

PF: Thad/Bennett

C: Pek/Dieng/Turiaf

Seems like they still could use another 4, actually. Lots of interchangeable pieces at the 1-2-3.

It would be asking too much of Bennett to start him and play him 30+ mins a night. Without Young they'd pretty much have to. Although I'm not sure who else would have offered a first for Young so it might have been an overpay.

Cannot wait to play this roster on NBA2K!

Need Wiggins and Lavine to filter through the noise and be great. NEED IT

I knew the Sixers wouldn't get a lot for Thad but 2 expiring deals and probably a late 1st round pick seems pretty bad. Is there more value there than I'm giving them credit for?
Getting Mbah a Moute was important for the 76ers. He discovered Embiid, they're the only two NBA players from Cameroon, and if you've followed Embiid's Twitter posts at all, you know he could probably use some veteran guidance.

This trade will be transformation for the Wolves franchise, IMO.

Stunning that they got so much with so little leverage. TWolf fans should break out the good stuff tonight.

If this trade tones down Embiid's twitter it will take away the only joy Sixers fans have right now. :kicksrock: .

Wolves also get a $4M trade exception, so we've got that going for us.
I don't even know what that means!
Basically $4 million towards salary matching in a trade.
Here's a good example. The Wizards, in possession of a $8.5 million trade exception but already over the salary cap, obtained noted rebounder and Grimace-####er Kris Humphries in a sign-and-trade with the Celtics for $4.3 million a year. The trade exception let them pick up Humphries without giving away anything other than a second rounder in return, it gives the Celtics an asset where they previously had none (Hump was a free-agent and by expanding the market for him through sign and trade they get a $4.3 million exception and a second rounder). Hump presumably gets a better deal than he would have late in free agency. Everybody wins!

They can use it as a buffer to make a trade work in the next year. COULD BE HUGE!!!!1
So like the $10 million dollar one they got for trading Al Jefferson to the Jazz for nothing else and then did nothing with it? Like that?
Yes, but just smaller.

Sorry Wolves fans. You have been Gunzed. RIP Wiggins knees.
I guess this trade is transforming two franchises then.

Can they combine them and trade for a sweet $14 million player like Chandler Parsons?

Gambling story :

My boss is 6' 7 and probably 280 at least. Told me this story today. Last time he was in Vegas he ended up at a blackjack table with Andrew Bynum. Boss is a big spurs fan and never ending #### talker. Apparently Bynum was at the $25 table and playing bad. He stayed on 16 when the dealer showed 10. So my boss said to him, "the next time you do that, Kobe is going to #### your wife." Tension builds. A few minutes later Bynum gets 16 again against a face card and my boss tells him "if you mess this up again, I guarantee you will blow out your knee again."

Fight.

Security.

Thrown out.

:lmao:

Team USA kept Plumlee over Lillard. Since I don't think we have any regulars here who are Blazers fans, I'm going to be outraged on their behalf.

I still don't expect this deal to happen. The Timberwolves front office doing something right doesn't seem possible. I'm thinking the NBA will dissolve before the end of the day or nuclear war will break out.

Sam Amico @SamAmicoFSO 3 minutes ago

Cavs, TWolves and Sixers finalizing Kevin Love trade via conference call with NBA office right now, according to CBS sports

Jon Krawczynski @APkrawczynski 1 minute ago

It's been a long 30 days. But now it's finally done. Love to Cavs. Wiggins, Bennett, Young to Wolves. Shved, Moute, No. 1 to 76ers. Boom.

Damn it feels good to have that over and done. They'll be fun to watch next year. They were pretty fun to watch last year too, at least until the final minute or two.

How many games does this team win? 30-35?

Congrats to the Wolves fans here.

I can admit when I was wrong and didn't think this deal was going to get done considering what Denver got for Anthony. Flip did fine work here.
