*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (6 Viewers)

I haven't seen enough of Marcin Gortat to know whether tonight is a fluke or he is a much better player than I thought, but he is taking it right at The Brow. He's getting the ball in the post and just dipping his shoulder and going strong to the basket. And the couple of times where Davis was right on him, Gortat got him up in the air with a couple of ridiculous head-fakes, and finger rolled it in.

Davis is not a very good one on one post defender.

Saw a nifty euro-step from Giannis tonight. I think it started from the 3 pt line. Need to find a link.
he had one move against the pistons the first time they played this week that was so bad a travel that i am pretty sure people on pilgramages take less steps it was pretty bad but hey i just do not seem to get as mad about traveling when it is my team getting away with it for some reason take that to the bank bromigos

Didn't expect them to be this bad, but I didn't think the Hornets were much more than an at least last team in playoff type for the foreseeable future.

I don't think you win much of anything at the NBA level with Kemba Walker as a starting PG (and in this case franchise core player). Nice when he's on, but the off days outweigh them. Best as a 1st/2nd guy off the bench.

Poor shooting shoot-first 'PGs' are a dime a dozen. Knew Hornets resigned him, but I thought it was at $6 mil/yr. Yikes, horrible at $12 mil/yr.

So Cliff/hxperson what's the prediction on starting lineup tomorrow v LA? I'm seeing a ton of speculation from Lou starting at the 2, to Ross sliding to the 2 and starting JJ and even Ross at the 2 and Fields at the 3 to not mess with the rotation. My gut says the least likely is JJ starting and I could see either Lou or even Landry starting. Most outsiders probably assume Lou with how he's been playing but Casey has pulled that Fields card before.

I would prefer to see Ross at the 2 and Fields start to keep the rotation in order or start JJ at the 3. At least in the starting rotation Fields' complete lack of a shot can be hidden a bit more and he isn't other the floor with other guys that can't shoot like Hayes and JJ.

A nice travel you mean?Pansies like Harden get away with that crap way too much.
i am not trying to defend traveling in the nba because it happens so much it ruins the game i agree about that but about the video in the click up there you get three steps and that is what he took so i guess that was probably ok under the way they call it it is probably a carry tho any day of the week take that to the bank brohan

We should all root for the Lakers a little more. Only a couple of games out of the 6th pick. Really want them to have to forfeit that this upcoming draft. :)

Wonder which one Cliff enjoyed more - Kobe's 81 point game or this one, Kobe triple doubling and carrying the worst LA Laker team of all time to a win over the best Raptor team of all time.

Ugly loss at home by the Suns. Really like Markieff Morris, but wonder how much longer they can go with starting Marcus Morris (40% shooter and a minus defender). Odd he's still starting at the 3.

And Mirotic is the NBA's best rookie. Throw him on just about any other team, he's the runaway ROY winner. If Gibson/Taj/Gasol continue to play musical chairs with injuries (or one suffers a long term injury), he could still have a shot at ROY. If they don't, he's likely to finish behind Parker due to role. An embarrassment of riches the Bulls have in the frontcourt.

Can I just say it sucks watching Eastern Conference Basketball. Two-thirds of the teams suck. The other third is sporting injured superstars....and then there's Cleveland

Yes Lakers likely still crush the Raptors with Derozan playing./sarcasm
Sorry, Derozan being out isn't an adequate excuse for the Raps losing to the Lakers.
I agree they still should have beaten the Lakers, but if Derozan plays I don't see the Lakers winning.I was taking a shot at Tommy calling this the best Raptors team of all time.

Best IF Derozan wasn't out was what I was driving at.

Fair, but Derozen is doing a pretty good job impersonating the Toronto-era Rudy Gay right now. All I'm saying is that it's not like the Raptors subtracted an MVP candidate.

Odds Grizzlies can win out to the Dec 16th showdown with the warriors? Slim to none...

Road game with Houston this Wed should be tough.
Thankfully the gauntlet of Spurs/Heat/Mavs that follow are all in the Grindhouse.

Hornets and 76ers hopefully provide some rest before welcoming the Warriors to town.

Hoping for 19-4 when the Warriors arrive...

He has played terrible recently but it is still a big loss to the team. They subtracted their leading scorer and one of the best in the league at getting to the line. Williams, Vasquez and Johnson are nice players in short spurts but the more they play, the worse they get.

#### happens. Lowry overcompensated and tried to be a hero. Raps shot terribly from 3 while the Lakers shot waaaay above their season average. Toronto is going to lose 30-35 games this year. Some will be against terrible teams.

Yep. Can't wait to see how these two teams stack up. If the Dubs can beat the Grizzlies and Spurs, I like our chances at the title.

You're forgetting a team.

Waaaay too far out to think about the NBA title, btw. Too many injuries to occur, major team adjustments, deadline trades, etc.

I think you can cross off about 20 teams pretty easily, but this year seems really wide-open.

Yeah. Mavs need some vengeance for 07. Living in SF now, dreaming of a first round matchup.

;)

The Grizz and Spurs have the size and execution that have given the Dubs trouble in the past. I'll also add the Chicago Bulls to that list.

I'm not saying teams like OKC, Clips, Mavs, Por, Cle, etc.... are going to be a cakewalk for the Dubs but I like how the Dubs match up against those teams. They maybe more talented/athletic but their size isn't overwhelming for the Warriors (LAC) due to Bogut and our tall perimeter players, their offenses aren't as sophisticated (OKC, POR), and/or their defenses aren't up to champonship level (CLE, DAL).

There's still plenty of season left and Curry has tweaked his ankle so...... yah I'm just enjoying the ride and praying the wheels don't fall off.

Mirotic, Jabari Parker, and Aaron Gordon are the only rookies with a PER 15 or higher. At this point, this rookie class is far from the historic one some were predicting. I agree that it's Parker's ROY to lose. As a Bulls fan, I find myself excited when Noah, Gasol or Gibson will be out just so I can see Mirotic get more minutes. It's still early but it's fun to see him already show improvement as he starts to figure out the NBA. He almost makes up for McDermott sucking so royally.

Sixers within striking distance late in 4th quarter. l'chaim!
Not a chance the Spurs give this one away. Sixers will have to wait until Wednesday for a victory.
true, but would have been a good game to bet. Looks like Spurs were 13.5 pt favorites, though I don't know what happened after PArker and Duncan declared out, and their 3rd game in 4 nights. Sixers covered vs. Mavs in similar situation Saturday.

Especially since the Spurs hung a 13 point loss on the Dubs at home in November.
