*NBA THREAD* Abe will be missed (7 Viewers)

Yeah - Horford basically missed 2 out of the last 3 years with injuries. Coach Bud is taking after Pop with his resting guys. He doesn't completely sit him but being cautious with his minutes is just smart IMO.

What a crazy ending!! Total #RefShow going on in the game. How many stoppages were there?!?! Huge 3 by Morris. Epic fail by the Dragic not hitting rim the Suns last possession. Crazy 3 by Griffin to win it. I can't believe that went in.

That's all I came here to post. Wow. The look on Tucker's face is hilarious.

Is this the term when the officials crap the bed? That Crawford ejection was awful. The crew was terrible even by NBA standards.

Bud might be one of the top 5 coaches in the game. Love what he's doing in Atlanta, especially considering the front office chaos. They look like the second-best team in the East at the moment behind the Cavs. When DeRozan comes back the Raps probably join them.

Clearly a 5 team game of musical chairs for home court in the East this season. I have a feeling my Wiz will be the ones left without a seat.

Yep, you got it.

John Wall seems like a good dude.
My top 5 players I like to watch:

1. Durant (must watch if on)

2. James (same)

3. Rose (watch most of the time)

4. Harden (I watch all the rockets games anyway, but he is fun to watch assuming you are a rockets fan)

5. Wall

Living in Atlanta I'm not used to having competent coaches. He seems really good and I don't think he's appreciated at all here. I hope he stays and builds something but I wouldn't be surprised if the Hawks do something stupid that makes him want to leave. Seems like something they would do.

I'm also not ready to consider them anything other than a playoff team. They've had a very easy schedule so far but they've looked great for two weeks now. They have 3 very winnable games coming up and them a run of tough games. I think after 30-35 games we'll know if they are a serious contender for a top-4 seed.

2nd worst in the league.
Who is worse?

Austin Carr is just terrible. I don't understand how Clevelanders tolerate him. I don't even mind the over the top homerism that much- RSN broadcasts are for local fans, it's OK to cater to that audience. It's that he's so useless and grating. He doesn't even try to offer insight, he just repeats whatever the play by play guy described and deploys a silly catch phrase to make it "colorful."

Tommy Heinsohn and the other guy in Boston. Just horrific.

Agree with you guys 100%. Carr is beyond awful and such a waste. Unfortunately he is also some Director with the Cavs, so I'm not sure how FSO would get rid of him. He's been doing color for a long time too, longer than I would have guessed.McLeod is pretty annoying, but he's not necessarily bad at what he does. He's no Michael Reghi (who was very good) if you remember him. I think when Gilbert took over he brought his boy McLeod from Detroit. McLeod will be in the seat for a long time.

They do need to show more Allie Clifton though.

I refuse to accept that Drexler and the HOU crew isnt in the bottom 3. I just don't want to live in that world.

Who do people consider the best ones? Nets, obviously. Not sure about others.

They are definitely up there. Drexler is terrible. Miami crew would also make a top 5 appearance.

Utah is one of the better ones IMO. Of course, that means you have to watch Utah games, so...

NO: Joel Meyers/David Wesley (probably my favorite)

Philly: Zumoff/Malik Rose

Chicago: Neil Funk/Stacey King

Brooklyn: Ian Eagle/Fratello

Utah: Craig Bolerjack/Matt Harpring

OKC: Brian Davis/Michael Cage

PHX: Steve Albert/Eddie Johnson

SA: Bill Land/Sean Elliot

And yes I used wikipedia to look up some of the names.

Pete Pranica the Grizzlies play by play guy is terrific. He's been doing it a long time and usually shows no homerism calling plays.

Fun Stats

DEN is 9-1 when ahead at the half and 0-10 when trailing. They are the only team 0 for when behind at the half.

Even the Icksers are 1-11 when trailing at the half.

Knicks 1-15.

The teams with winning records in games trailing at the half are.

Raps 6-4

Blazers 8-2

Warriors 4-1

Grizzlies 5-2

Spurs 5-4

Only 2 teams have a winning record when trailing after the 3rd quarter.

Blazers 4-1

Warriors 3-1

2 teams are undefeated when ahead at the half.

Wizards 11-0

Bulls 7-0

5 teams are undefeated when leading after the 3rd quarter.

Cavs 9-0

Wizards 13-0

Heat 9-0

Blazers 12-0

Mavs 14-0

2 more for fun

2 teams are undefeated when they score 100 or more in a game

Houston 11-0

Spurs 10-0

Icksers are 0-10 in games where the have LESS TO's.

Good thing the Knicks got a discount

Anthony, according to sources, used another expletive in telling Hardaway he was going to beat him up when they got into the locker room after the game....

Several Knicks, in addition to Hardaway, are at odds with Anthony and believe he is not playing team basketball. Sources said players voiced their displeasure with Anthony over the weekend, telling him he shoots too much, doesn't move or pass the ball, and plays defense only when he feels like it.

Yeah I like the New Orleans and Philly guys too. Been listening to them a lot this year since those teams are also entertaining (in different ways).

Speaking of Philly's entertainment value, I was happy to hear KJ McDaniels getting a lot of love from Simmons and Lowe on their podcasts. I've been loving him all season, touted him over in the Philly vs. Kentucky thread. Incredibly entertaining, should get some all-rookie team love.

Doesn't this pretty much sum up his whole career?

Still pissed the Lakers let Meyers go for this Bill MacDonald clown.
They're both bad. I've heard Meyers's ego is pretty tough to deal with, and I bet Mac Donald works cheaper. Nobody's watching the games so why should they care who's broadcasting them?

Kobe manages to torpedo the Lakers long term prospects again last night - that was one they really needed to lose.

They made the switch back in 2011 though.

I can't compare to many others, but I agree that Zumoff and Rose are pretty good here in Philadelphia.

Haven't heard many broadcasts from Sacramento, but I've heard Napear interviewed a few times and he seems like a good guy.

Good point. Maybe Meyers is just that big of a pain to deal with. I only have Petros and Money anecdotes to base that on. In the end, I don't think he was that much better than MacDonald anyway. The guy who sucks even worse is Ireland on the radio broadcasts - I have no idea what's going on in the game half the time, and I mean basic stuff like made baskets and what the score is.

Yes. But the "OMG points he's so awesome" crowd drowns out the "he's a terrible team player" crowd.

So Williams, JJ and Lopez are up for grabs apparently (shocking, I know). Any realistic fits for them?

Gotta think there is zero interest in Williams since he still has 2 years $43M after this year.

JJ could help the right team and "only" has a year left at way too much money. Maybe Tyreke Evans for JJ (cap filler and/or 3rd team required)? About the same money owed after this season but JJ expires a year sooner.

Not sure if anyone would want to touch Lopez.

That would be awesome but the Knicks should probably hold onto Amare and stick Melo in there instead.
