SLAP IT HIGH BABY!
JR's antics, Love's pouting, Iman's haircuts, Mozgov being MOZGOV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, (plus LeBron)...I'm so jealous of Cavs fans right now.
It's going to be a bumpy ride, I'm not sure what to expect, it will either be glorious or a train wreck.

I'm having a hard time imagining anything in between.

We'll see what Lebron and Blatt can do now. I'd say the Cavs will not trade their 1st round pick. They do have the TE to use (by the deadline?) for a depth player. Not sure if Haywood's contract will ever come into play.

That's a good bet that they won't trade their pick because they can't until 2018.

2015 is being swapped with CHI, and 2016 pick is going to BOS. Can't trade consecutive 1st round picks, or something like that, so their 2017 pick has to be kept

Hawks finish off Memphis to go 10-2 against the West and 6th win overall. Pistons up next and they are on fire. They may kill us on the boards so they better shoot well and hit the boards on D.

Mavs with some beautiful ball movement, setting up a wide-open 3 for Charlie Villanueva, who misses the rim by about 5 feet.

So glad he's not a Piston anymore.

Pistons sending Mavs fans home early. Bring on the Hawks next. This is too funny. How bad is Josh Smith? Detroit is the hottest team in the NBA....haven't heard that in awhile.

WOOOOOOO! I'm actually a little excited to see him 25 mpg.
Are they going to completely blow it up?
They should have last year, maybe ownership is finally figuring it out a season late. They have a whole lot of decent assets that they could flip for pick or prospects. The only player with a bad contract is McGee, everybody else is tradable. Gallinari, Chandler and Afflalo would all demand a decent return, Foye, Robinson, Hickson and maybe Gee would get some sort of returns. I think Lawson and Faried are here for the long haul and they'll build around those two, Nurkic and possibly Gary Harris.
I just get so tired of the rebuilding years. How many has this been? This team will never attract a premier FA, so it has to be the perfect blend of draft and middle tier guys to advance and the West is always so deep, what are you going to do?

I would have rather had this deal be for McGee.

Wow Thunder laid another clunker last night. Team is in a big funk (also Kings are playing better with Corbin at the healm).

Can't tell if the trade rumors are bothering the team or what, but they need to pull it together quick just to get to a 7 or 8 seed.

We really haven't had any rebuilding years in Denver for a decade. Two years ago they had 57 wins. Only the top dozen or so players in the league really choose where they want to play, the rest of the elite players in the league just go to who gives them the most money. I think a championship contending team can be built here, and I think we even had one for a couple years with Melo. The year we lost to the Lakers in the conference championship, they were two plays away from winning that series and being favorites in the finals.

Of course you would rather have had that deal be for McGee, so would the Nuggets, but the very best case for the Nuggets is he gets healthy soon and they can find somebody to take his contract without poising their cap. McGee is damn near unmovable. For a team in the Nugget's situation, getting two first rounders for a guy who wasn't going to help rebuild this team was a steal.

This will give Nurkic (who in retrospect should have been a top 10 pick) some time to develop this year, because he could be the future of this team.

same could be said for SA. they have played a tough schedule for sure and injuries to Tony, Kawhi, Splitter and others have been meant the line-ups have been all over the place. what i hate seeing is the defense giving up so many points game in and game out.

Thread title is misleading...

NYK doing a good job clearing cap space. Yea they got junk, but much cheaper junk. Without Amare next year too

I have faith in what Phil is doing.
Shumpert's contact was not unreasonable.
It wasn't, but they're starting from scratch... They'll be very competitive within 3 years.
Plus they needed to add him in order to get some one to take JR Smith off their hands.

Watching the Spurs struggle- relatively speaking- is odd, but they're still in good shape at 21-15. 17-19 is another matter. Four games with less than 50 to play is a surprisingly large margin when you start to do the math. If we assume 49 wins guarantees you a playoff spot in the West that means the Spurs just have to go 28-18 the rest of the way (barely better than their current pace) while the Thunder would have to go 32-14 (better than Houston's current pace). I'm not sure it'll take 49, but even 48 or 47 is at least kind of iffy for the Thunder. If any of Durant, Westbrook or Ibaka misses just a week or two at any point they could be in real trouble.

and it's not like their Jan schedule is getting any easier. 8 of their next 11 are on the road with a 5 game jaunt from Orlando to Miami to Atlanta to DC to Cleveland. Even if they just go 6-5 over the next 11 that puts them at 23-24 and they'd then seemingly have to go 25-10 the rest of the way (basically be a top 3 team in the West). It's obviously doable for them, but there's little to no margin for error at this point since Phoenix has seemingly figured some things out (Dragic got healthy). They should own the tiebreaker over Phoenix if it comes to that, so at least they only have to tie them.

I guess the bigger issue is this sets up an 8th seed of either OKC, Phoenix, or the Spurs for GS. Some benefit for being the #1 seed. Just going to be a loaded playoffs.

i usually don't pay much attention to Pop and the Spurs until after the All-Star anyway. the Rodeo trip is usually the best measuring stick of what kind of team SA is down the stretch.

The Thunder play Utah at home tomorrow and then have 5 days off. They need to come out of that break ready to go or they could be in serious trouble (if they aren't already) before we even hit February. I don't know if the lack of a true system is catching up to them or if they just play too many guys that can't really contribute on that end or but their offense just looks gross. They are certainly capable but it's going to be tough.

This should be the year Scotty Brooks gets fired (since his contract will only have 1 year left, cheap ### Clay Bennett). Look at the transformation the Warriors have had since Kerr replaced Jackson. It's the same exact thing.

The offensive talent on both teams is good enough to manufacture points in terrible offensive schemes, but look at what has happened to the Dubs since Kerr REVAMPED the offense. WORLDS BETTER.

Sure OKC doesn't have as much passing talent as the Dubs, but you should be able to run a better offense when you have the reigning MVP, a PG who can get to the lane at will, and a two way stretch 4 playing the majority of your minutes. Morrow is a smart player. He can fill the role Danny Green does on offense. Even with Steven Adams mucking up the lane the personnel is there for perfect floor spacing. People complain that Westbrook doesn't pass, well he really has no choice. The structure on offense isn't there if the initial action gets blocked.

As a Warriors fan I hope the Thunder keep Brooks forever and ever, but Presti has to just look over at the Dubs to see where his team can improve.

Having Cousins back probably helps :) They were 9-6 when he sat out for extended period earlier in year......they then went 2-8 w/o him & Malone got the boot. Malone got a raw deal IMO.

Corbin isn't long for that job.

You like the Kenyon Martin signing, Brozillasaurus?

how great would a Detroit vs Golden State NBA Final be? I'm sure the NBA would be ecstatic
:lmao:

I'd think the NBA would love to have Golden State in the Finals, no? Exciting style of play, huge market, what's not to like from their standpoint?
Seriously? Especially with Curry as the face of the franchise. I'm sure Adam Silver would #### his pants.
I can't tell if you're agreeing with me or not. I think so? GS would be a coup for the league. Guessing it would be their second-favorite West representative after LAC, with Chicago or Lebron as their preference in the East.
