I'm not saying they need Bogut to win their first round playoff series, but I don't think they are title contenders without him. Westbrook had a career night because no one was guarding the rim, not just because he caught fire from deep or anything.

OKC is going to squeek in if they make it and the last two weeks will be like a playoff series. GSW, hopefully will have HC locked up and be able to get everyone rested and treat the end of the season as a tune up. Honestly, I think it will be PHX.

Couple questions since I am still learning.
Could the Pistons win a playoff series if they don't get the Hawks in round 1?
If they can't should they trade Monroe since he is a free agent?
Would anyone want Jennings? I don't like him or think he is a long term answer.

Yeah, they have to be a fantasy wasteland. Lowry is the only consistent producer that can be counted on night to night.

They should trade him but they won't.
No. Jennings is not the answer for anyone. He could possibly develop into a sixth man like Lou Williams, Jamal Crawford or Ben Gordon. Having him as your starter is at best treading water.

Highly doubt it.
They should look to trade him regardless. He's as good as gone this offseason, so if they can get some worthwhile assets for him I think it would be worthwhile.
I'd hold onto Jennings. I don't think he would be highly sought after if they made him available (which they may have already done) and his contract will be fairly reasonable, even if he comes back to earth a bit. If they acquire a better PG in the next two years, I think Jennings would be a very nice 6th man.

Yes, but he'd lose the free agency leverage of a big offer from Detroit, at minimum. I'm not sure how the qualifying offer affects sign and trade possibilities under the new CBA but that may be in play too. So long as there's even the remotest possibility that he may get some benefit out of said rights, it doesn't make sense for him to accept a trade unless he really just can't stand the sight of SVG for a few more months.

Monroe might be willing to stay in Detroit now that Smith is gone. Whether it's a good idea to give him a huge contract is another question.
I'm starting to get cautiously optimistic about Jennings. It seems like his attitude has improved, maybe SVG got through to him somehow. The talent's always been there. That said, Pistons should definitely sell high if they get a good trade offer (which they won't).

It's real. And spectacular.
Pop has insisted to the press for a long time that he doesn't scout opponents. His job is to watch video of his own team to look for mistakes that need fixing, and then to communicate that back to the team as individuals and groups.
The triangle quote is amazing, and I only wish he'd dropped that one on a courtside TV talking head during a game instead of wasting it on a best reporter.

The last quote was what really got me. It doesn't surprise me that an NBA coach wouldn't scout the rest of the league much. I wonder how much of Popovich's public persona is schtick and how much of it is real. I think Belichick goes home and kicks his dog, but I wouldn't be surprised if Popovich is a pleasant person in his day to day life outside of basketball.

Both Brandan Wright and Deandre Jordan are on pace to be the first players since Wilt in 72-73 (as a 36 year old in his last season) to shoot over 70% from the field in a season.
Also, fun Chamberlain fact - he is the only player to average more than 48mpg in a season. He averaged 48.5mpg in 61-62, the same year he averaged 50+ppg and scored 100.

Pistons murdered the Hawks on the boards and neither team could shoot worth crap but the Hawks played great D and still shared the ball well. 93 points and 31 assists.

Durant, Curry, and Davis are still more impressive to me considering volume.
Korver is shooting great, but he's still only averaging 13 ppg. He basically takes 2 shots a quarter in the flow of a great offense.
He's a good player, but I think he gets too much hype/credit when Horford, Milsap, and Teague are true talents.

Korver has made 125 threes this year, on pace for the 6th most ever, while shooting the best percentage in the history of the NBA from 3 (besting his own record by .0001). I still think that Curry is the better shooter, but I don't think that Korver is getting enough credit for what he's doing.
ETA: He is also on pace for the 2nd 50/50/90 season ever. Steve Kerr was a man before his time.

He's on pace for about 400 TSA (true shooting attempts = FGA+.44*FTA), the cutoff is 500 for a season.

Doris Burke was on Lowe's podcast back in the summer and, although she's received many a gruff answer on TV, she said that he is a nice guy off the court and told a story where something bad had happened to her (maybe her dad died or something?) and after a big loss, Pop came over to her unsolicited and offered his condolences and was genuinely in the moment with her.Kev4029 said:

Think I have read Pop has fostered a culture of once a Spur always a Spur. Looking out for his former players. But I have heard that about Bobby Knight too.

Horford, Millsap and Teague are all excellent players but Korver's presence makes them much much better. He's a game-changer, and not just in the half-court. In transition you'd rather give up a lightly contested layup than an open Korver 3, which is just silly.

Did anyone catch the Grantland ESPN show yesterday with Simmons praising James Harden?
He was showing some stats about how much Harden drives the 3 point shooting for the Rockets,anybody got a link for those?I found it very interesting how much he was ahead of the rest of league in doing this for his team.
I still don't buy Harden has turned into this better defensive player that I keep hearing but no doubting what he brings on offense.

Overall they shot 31.6% in 33 minutes with him on the court, and 52.2% in the 15 minutes he was on the bench.
