The current tourneyment is wildly popular and single elimination is a major reason. Your idea would cripple casual fan interest. UConn won in 2011 and KU won in 2012 and was the preseason #1, throwing out their seeding and not thinking these are premier programs is silly.

On paper, Ky is the best team anyway, probably, so this should be your wet dream.

As a Connecticut fan, the good news is that UK really doesn't seem to have much of an idea as to how to execute on offense. In terms of basketball IQ, they're pretty far down the ladder. And the Squid is not a good in-game coach.

I think this is one of those things that people hear and then it gets repeated until it's assumed to be true. Calipari doesn't get his teams this far only by being a master recruiter. It's not like he says "Go get 'em!" to the team then heads to the nearest bar for two hours.

Also, in Kentucky's last four wins in this very tournament, they have been leading at halftime in exactly zero of them. He makes adjustments.

I'll admit, I think Kentucky might have too much for us to handle.

But I'd love to be in room when Shifty (Calhoun) and Ollie get to talk and get down to business. Heck, Ollie's so on top of it, Shifty might just have been in his hotel room, eating greens and drinking NutriBullet per Pat's command. Could be interesting. Only thing I've seen out of Ollie I'd like is for him to work the refs more, or Calhoun's going to have to tromp down out of the stands and look like he's about to wring someone's neck.

We got a good coach; now what's left is the gem recruiting that Calhoun always seemed to pull out of his posterior to get guys to go to Storrs.

Kevin Ollie has picked up a useful ally in the recruiting wars: Kevin Durant. Durant is effusive with praise for Ollie, gone on record about what a great leader, teacher, and role model Ollie was for him and the rest of the Thunder the year the franchise made the jump from a 23-win team to a 50-win team.

I wasn't aware of this. Word gets around, too, so that's an encouraging sign.

Interesting seeing all the hate for UK...100% of the neutral parties at the game were pulling for UK. Mostly about not wanting to see UC v UW on Mon.

Randle is from the Dallas area, and the Harrison boys from Houston. So I'm guessing alot of neutral Texans were pulling for their boys.

Did an OK job on UF and a really good job on Sparty. ISU, oddly, killed them despite their lack of size.

UConn played 8 minutes without one of their bigs against UF and it was a decent look for them, don't think they'll be able to get away with that at all tomorrow. Brimah and Nolan are going to be huge.

As a Vols football fan, I feel your pain. I don't understand how UCLA ever lost their mojo for basketball. Recruiting in LA alone should field a good team. The allure of Hollywood, hot chicks, the beach...how does any kid choose Kansas or Louisville over UCLA...?
