Please stop being so stupid.  I know you are a ACC honk so nobody outside the ACC can possibly be very good.  Baylor is a very good team, ranked 4 right now.  If we are talking about last year we have an Oregon team who was a 1 seed and Elite 8 team who beat your precious Duke team.  Oregon only lost 1 starter from last years team and gained a solid senior guard transfer from Villanova who was supposed to play last year but got hurt.

All that said, Oregon has not been playing as well as they should be to date but with Brooks getting healthy they have Final 4 potential.
Duke lost 11 games last year, so beating them in the sweet 16 wasn't exactly a great accomplishment (and Oregon was a terrible match up for them without jefferson).

But yes Oregon is good and I think they'll settle in the 2nd tier of teams this year with an outside shot of a final 4 run. The teams at the top are clearly stronger than last year but Oregon has a really good squad once Brooks is right and fully integrated.

And losing to this year's Baylor squad is nothing to be embarrassed about even if you're fully healthy. They're pretty good and their length and athleticism is game changing on the defensive end

Take it easy man, I'm just having some fun  with your homerism.  I'm sure they're gonna be a good team, but it seemed a little over the top to insist on putting them on a short list of national title contenders, which was the discussion subject.  Plus I went to Yale and I saw an opening to mention our greatest sports triumph since the Coolidge administration.

I appreciate the homer enthusiasm- its what makes college basketball awesome.  Otherwise it'd be like watching minor league baseball.

Gotcha, like I said before they have not played as well as I expected they would this year yet.  Atman is a very good coach and he usually gets his teams playing much better in the 2nd half of the season.  If they play like they have so far they will not contend for the title this year.

UK UofL game...UK is scary how much talent they have again this year.  UK is so fast and athletic it doesn't seem fair.

I would think Coach K would, and you'd think he should do it as early tomorrow as possible to curb the outrage just a bit.  I'm guessing 2-3 games.
Suspended indefinitely.  Nailed the "as early as possible tomorrow," and I don't see any way Coach K pushes this past 2-3 games now that they're into conference games.

I'd say good for Coach K, but he simply had to make this move.  Too much media backlash not to.

Kansas lost Udoka Azubuike for the season.  Kid has a ton of potential - think he was 17 at start of the season,  7'0 270 freshman center who cracked the starting lineup at the beginning of the month.  Saw him in person against UMKC and he looked much better than Bragg/Lucas.  Hoping for a full recovery and the Carlton can step up and be the man.

Dislike.  Had a huge learning curve but was picking up things quickly and on his way to being a legit rim protector.

Time to shine, Landen Lucas.

"Graymond" Allen is awesome shtick.

Be prepared for the hot take on Coach K treating Graymond with kid gloves when he kicked Sulaimon off the team for a lot less, and whether skin color was a factor in those decisions.

If Krzyzewski doesn't like the criticism he's taking over this, maybe he shouldn't lecture players on opposing teams for doing stuff his players do all the time.

So Coach K says in the interview that he "wasn't aware" of the reaction on the bench until after the game.  Anybody buy that??? Nobody showed him at half time?  The assistant coaches didn't say they had to pretty much restrain him on the sideline?

I can buy that he didn't catch all of his act. He's focused on the game coaches probably had him shielded a bit.

Playing arm chair psychologist that reaction looked like he was out of control and he has issues. Kid is only 20 but just don't see that reaction very often.

Lotta hot takes flying around on this one, but obviously there's a bad switch in Allen's mind that keeps tripping, similar to Green. I think whatever it is, is something that goes deeper than "discipline" or "teaching" or what have you.

K's trying to do right by Allen and have his back, which I understand. That's a good general principle for a coach to adhere to, generally. But I think at some point K's making it worse with how he presents it in the media. K kind of possesses a natural dickishness. Which is fine, a lot of coaches do, but he doesn't do anyone any favors with stuff like the Patrick interview.

I drove up from the Bay Area for this week's games, tonight was top five all time Duck hoops games I've been to (dating back to 1990 when I got to school).

The offense has struggled for sure this season, they turn the ball over way too much and have been horrible from three.  Tonight they played great in the first half, fell apart offensively for 12 minutes in the 2nd unable to score while Lo Ball took over, and managed enough plays in the final 90 seconds to pull out the win.

UCLA is legit, and I don't see them losing more than 1 more game the rest of the way - so balanced inside and outside on offense, although their D could cause them problems.

Oregon played at not full strength with Boucher contributing very little coming off a 2 week injury, Brooks still working himself back into shape, and most importantly Altman still trying to find chemistry with this team.  Ennis just doesn't fit in very well as he's a ball stopper who can't shoot, but he defends well and takes care of the ball.  And Brooks isn't as good as he thinks he is...but he's already hit two game winners this year, so maybe I'm an idiot.

Net net is I think UCLA is a legit #1 seed as they are really balanced, efficient, and explosive offensively.  Oregon has potential for a #2 seed or could end up with 4-6 losses and peak late (like Altman's teams typically have) and end up a 4-6 seed.

Mike Krzyzewski to have back surgery.  Recovery expected to be at least four weeks, possibly longer if Duke goes on a losing streak while he's out.

Jeff Capel to run the bench in Krzyzewski's absence.

K has more or less unimpeachable credentials, no?

but this "team isn't as good as i thought, we're having some problems, better check out for a few months to have surgery" shtick has to be at least be brought up when he goes in to the HoF.

They're 12-2.  Maybe he sees the writing on the walls but still a top 10 team for now.

It's just an unfortunate coincidence that happens to get under the skin of the most sensitive subset of Duke fans.

wow, I know its just against GT and they haven't really beaten any good teams, but Duke scored 110 and looked very impressive tonight. Might be a contender after all

Funny game in Columbia.  TxAM shooting like 20 percentage points higher, but has turned the ball over 25 times to SC's 5, leading to an 8-point SC lead with 4 minutes.

RipGrapeEastApeWood is back?? :blackdot:

Look forward to his analysis of Allen going from a tripper to trying to kick guys in the junk instead

Yawn, not what happened

Your overall average take has to be just about the worst on this bored
Praying for the day that you put me on ignore.  While my take might suck, this wasn't my take.  Flailing around to hurl insults in my direction isn't very becoming of you, but it's a little better than your spelling

Kentucky up 3 on Vandy with a minute left. (ESPN)

Vandy kept pushing them all 2nd half but could ever get the stops they needed to get over the top.

West Virginia dismantled Baylor.  They foul on every possession, but the refs won't blow the whistle 40 times.  No way Kansas wins in Morgantown.

Tough 8 days coming up at the end of the month:

Jan 24 - road vs #10 West Virginia

Jan 28 - road vs # 6 Kentucky

Feb 1 - Host #1 Baylor
