Nova right back in it. There's nothing I like more than seeing UVA lose at anything. Don't let me down, Hoos! ;)
I had family go there, so I kinda/sorta root for them sometimes.

This feels like an Elite Eight game to me. Both these teams are tough as nails. Fun game.

I went to Maryland, my son & 2 of my nephews are Hokies. Hard not to hate a school that thinks it is Harvard and wherever you went is the Canal Zone Teachers College ;)

Oh, I can dig it. Their fans are awful, holier-than-though pukes. They might be worse than Carolina fans, except they've never won anything

@Bruce Dickinson  congrats?

STAFF AND SPECIAL REPORTS

Kentucky fans have long been known for being among the loudest anywhere. Now they have the world record to prove it.

With a representative from the Guinness Book of World Records in attendance, the crowd at Rupp Arena set a world record for the loudest indoor crowd cheer when it was measured at 126.4 decibels just before tip-off of the Wildcats’ matchup with Kansas on Saturday.

Two more attempts to break the newly set record were to be made later in the game.

Finally got some fans from a real program in there to help break it.   (Phog routinely hits 110 dB before tipoff, approaches 120 for big games)

Seriously... had a great time and am so happy was able to make the trip.  Haven't watched the TV broadcast yet so I dunno if this got televised, but UK brought Michael Buffer out for a "LET'S GET READY TO RUMMMMBLLLLLLLE!" in the pregame, which was awesome shtick.

Think anyone started a fight with Bruce on the way out?
The UK fans left too early for fisticuffs.   :boxing:

Seriously, the UK fans were great.  In brick-and-mortar life I'm a silly, laid-back guy that just wants everyone to get along  (I work out 99% of my hostility here).

On gameday I went over to a group of UK fans about the age of my travel group (men in their 40s), introduced myself and that I was part of a group from Kansas, lifelong hoops nut, always wanted to see a game at Rupp since watching the Nova/Georgetown final on TV, and hope everyone has a good time today.  They opened up their circle to include all of us.  Had a great time talking about favorite teams and players - they got a kick out of hearing me talk about seeing 13-year-old Jamal Mashburn play at the AAU Nationals ("he wore 44; figured it was because it was his sleeve size"), I got a kick out of hearing how important the Unforgettables still are to the program and fans.  Any time things heated up, we all could agree on how much Duke and Carolina sucked.  And Indiana could screw itself, too.

Recommend attending a game at Rupp to any fan of the sport.  TV doesn't quite capture just how damn BIG the place is.  You don't quite feel the ghosts of the sport's history like you do at Allen, but sure got a big dose of Big Blue Nation.  Seeing all the blue in the stands and on the court made me kinda wish KU had made crimson alternate jerseys for this season, but the crimson warmups had to suffice.

Dickie Dunn said:
Watching highlights tonight on ESPN and CBS, and both channels had someone believing Kansas would be No. 1 Monday, despite the lopsided loss in Morgantown. Wally Szczerznzwzqzzzzbiak saying Kansas would beat the Zags on a neutral court. Which may well be true, but that's not how this usually works.
Gonzaga deserves to be #1.  Undefeated, sufficiently large number of good wins.  Let the whole "x beats y on a neutral court" stuff get decided on a neutral court.

Never been to Rupp(plan to one day) but I remember when Darin Horn was our coach and the CLA felt like Rupp 2.0 with all of the Wildcat fans there and not alot of Gamecock fans.

On a  related note, I understand why Texas sucks this year with Horn being an assistant coach.

We tried to the get the Rock Chalk chant going, but there weren't enough KU fans there to get too much traction.  I was at a KU game at Lloyd Noble a few years ago where there were so many Jayhawks fans there, the "Rock Chalk Jayhawk KU" chant in the final minute was loud enough to make the TV broadcast.

I'm a Zag fan and having a hard time justifying a jump to number one after playing San Diego and Pepperdine this past week.

I know Kansas lost once but a win against Kentucky in Kentucky is more impressive than beating two WCC cellar dwellers.

What happened to OU hoops? I know Buddy is gone, but the Sooners are usually at least decent.
Also lost Spangler and Cousins, who were three-year starters like Hield was.

Lattin, who should be their second-best player behind Woodard, hasn't shed his foul magnet problem yet.

They will be a lot better next year.  Woodard is the only player they are losing, and a lot of freshmen (and sophs who didn't play last year) are taking their lumps and getting experience, much like the Hield-Cousins-Spangler class.

The rankings are supposed to account for the whole season, not just the past week.

Oh Frak!  The 'Eers are ranked in the top 10 again.  It seems like every time they break the top 10, they usually lose the next game.

Duke vs Notre Dame?

Really? It's come to this? What circle of hell do I find myself in? I can't root for either of these teams!

I guess I'll just drink & hope for a low scoring, poorly played game where one of these teams ultimately loses by sheer incompetence.

:D

More off-court news out of Lawrence... KU reserve guard Lagerald Vick was accused of punching a female student in the arm more than once and kicking her in the face.  Internal investigation by the school says the event happened in December 2015, was likely domestic violence, and recommended two years of school probation.

Vick was not charged with a crime.  But its pretty clear something very bad happened.

Note this a separate incident from the McCarthy Hall rape case currently being investigated.

Bol Bol playing again

Bol Bol, son of Manute Bol (RIP), moved to California and is playing again after wearing out his welcome at multiple KC-area high schools.

Looks bored against this level of competition.  Older mixtapes of him featuring his dribbling and passing make him look like a more intriguing prospect.

He's class of 2018, already has offers from a few powerhouses, including KU.

Seems to have all the talent he needs, but an attitude that will keep him from getting anywhere near his ceiling.  Still rooting for him.

OK so its a big deal that Brent Mussberger is retiring. I get it. Give him a tribute show. Don't ignore the Maryland - Ohio State game while talking about how Brent will be missed.

And Brent, those are great stories, but MAYBE the Kentucky & Georgia fans are watching their teams & didn't ask to hear your old stories about how **** Vitale taught you how to kiss fans. I'm sure you have tons of fascinating stories. How about a 30 for 30 for a platform for this?

/rant

Good luck with the retirement.

Rumor is this is the same woman from the Bragg incident in December.

you know the home team is always going to get the calls but holy cow this game is terrible
