Yale/Princeton and Troy/Tx State games should obviously both have something on the line today.

I was thinking UK could play to a 2 seed. Are we assuming they're already a 2?

I think Kentucky is locked for a 2, but  - IMO - it doesn't matter if they are a 3. Pretty much the same path.

I think most of the post-Selection #####ing will be about seeding as opposed to who missed out altogether. Illinois State is really the only school who's likely to be left out who has a (weak) case for getting in. Teams like Syracuse & Illinois should just shut the hell up if they aren't included.

Still don't see how these sites have Syracuse in especially not even first four. Historically low rpi. Only two wins away from home. One in OT and one a buzzer beater against bottom acc teams.

I think Duke gets a 1 and unc a 2. SOS and head to head will be the difference.

Personally I'm preparing for the worst today for my Gamecocks. It's highly unlikely that we get snubbed again but we really struggled down the stretch just like last year. We'll see.
BracketMatrix has them as a 9-seed.  There's some variance on them: a few 7s, a few 10s and 11s, but everyone has them in the field.

Really, really want to get off that 8/9 line, but want another shot at Kentucky on a neutral court in the SEC Tourney even more, just to see how we'd fare.
Your shot is here Nittany. I think your boys have a legitimate shot to win today. I will be pulling for them. Good luck.

Yeah I think it NoVa, Kansas, gonzaga and Duke/unc on one line. Then Duke/unc, Arizona and Kentucky on two line for sure.
While I agree Duke is a very scary team right now I don't believe they get a 1 seed because if the early losses.  I think Arizona has a better shot at a 1 than Duke, but I would pick Duke to beat Arizona right now.

Duke has the same number of top 25 wins this week than Arizona has all season.  I'm certainly no Duke fan but Arizona won't be ahead of them.

As a Duke fan I don't care whether we get a 1 or a 2, truth is, we are finally gelling as a team and peaking at the right time. I think they have as good a shot to win it as anyone else. Should be a great tournament, no real juggernauts but a lot of capable teams IMO.

Very good tournament for my Wildcats.  Fox back to playing like he did before the ankle and knee problems, Bam playing better than he has all year, and getting contributions from the roll players.  Monk didn't shoot it well, but feel confident that won't continue long.  Plus, not shooting well didn't keep him from playing hard and he didn't try to force things.  Briscoe is still playing like a dog, but that's not the end of the world.

What kind of storylines will the committee create this year?  A few guesses.

Wichita in the 8/9 game where the winner gets Kansas. (Big brother vs little brother in Kansas)

Northwestern in the 8/9 or 7/10 game where winner gets Duke (Chris Collins vs Coach K)

Maryland as a 7 seed where the potential second round game is against Duke or North Carolina (old ACC rivalry)

UK/Louisville the 2/3 in the same region?

Oh interesting.  Tell me why?  I'm trying to figure out that team.
Losing the big guy to injury really hurt UF.  He cleaned up a lot of messes and allowed the guards to play really aggressive on the outside. He was also their primary rebounder.
Yeah, Myshkin is right about the effect of the loss of Egbunu. Hayes, the primary big now, is a good player but he's not as big or strong and tends to get in foul trouble. When he goes to the bench UF either has to put in a stiff or go small.

But more recently their offense also seems to be going to ####. A high percentage of their half-court possessions look really ugly. Not sure how to explain it.

Minnesota will be the 6 in the same region Louisville is a 3 (Pitino vs Pitino)

Anyone know when tickets for the 18 tourney go on sale?  I'd like to take my dad to the first two rounds in Boise next year and can't find on sale dates online.

Kansas and Wichita State won't be in the same pod this year.  They did that two years ago, plus Tulsa (likely game location) is only two hours and change from Wichita, creating a geographic disadvantage for the stronger seed.

Thanks man!
My pleasure.  Any round of the NCAA Tournament is really fun to go to and I recommend it to any sports fan.  It's surreal watching an arena get behind a double-digit seed still in the game in the second half.

I recommend tracking the arena's box office, like subscribing to their e-mail list or event alerts.  Tickets for the schools are a different beast handled by the schools themselves.  Usually the sections across from the benches and behind the benches are reserved for the participating schools, and some of the center court seats will be grabbed by the NCAA for VIPs and such, but the general admission will be handled by the arenas.

ETA:this is for opening weekend and regionals.  The Final Four is different.  A lot of the public Final Four seats are awarded via a ticket lottery that opens for entries around now through around Memorial Day with winners notified in June.

Cool thanks again.  My dad went to the 1st round in Portland back in the '60s I guess when he was in his 20s.  Now he's 76 and when I brought up yesterday taking him and his grandson to Boise next year he got SO excited.  So I really don't want to let this slip through the cracks.  Besides which it's been a dream of mine since I was in Junior High. :)

From a Kenpom perspective, East already looking tough with UVA, Florida and Wisconsin in there.  Overall #2, 7, 9 and 23 in the top half of the East.

My lifelong fandom of the sport is all about my dad taking me to games in person when I was little.  He took me to big high school tournaments and shootouts, NCAA Tournament games, NBA preseason and regular season games.  Because of that, I can say I saw Julius Erving play for the Sixers, (H)akeem Olajuwon play for the Houston Cougars, and Alonzo Mourning and Kenny Anderson (and many other future D-I players) as high schoolers.  I think your dad would love a three-generation trip to the Tournament.

Start tracking for tickets by summer.  Expect them to go on sale no later than November.
