NE Opens as a BLANK point favorite (2 Viewers)

I figure New England opens as an 10.5 point favorite versus the Niners and a 6.5 favorite against the Giants

What's your guess?

Gotta figure the books are still smarting from the Giants upset of the Patriots a few years back.

The open might be a huge bargain.

8.5 - 9ers3.5 - Giants
I think that's more likely. The Giants have a lot of hype right now if they play NE it won't be a big line.49ers, shouldn't be a big line either since they've lost 3 games by a combined 15 points and have one of the best defenses in recent memory. But it probably will.

Figure that keeps the O/U reasonable, but if they open as anything under a TD dog NE is a 'load up' play.

I would make the Giants the favorite over the Patriots. The Giants seem to have a knack for completing long, time consuming drives that would trump the Patriots' bend-but-don't-break defense.

I know Vegas won't make these the line but I'd say

New England -4 vs San Francisco

Giants -4 vs New England

I think the 49ers, Giants, and Patriots are all pretty even. In a normal game, I'd favor the home team by a few points. On a neutral field, I'd make it a pick 'em.

But I'm in the minority in thinking the Patriots are a bit overrated. I'd expect most books to make the Patriots about 4.5-point favorites over either the 49ers or the Giants.

Down to NE -3 now, with an over/under of 55.5.
Lot of bettors remembering the Giants upset a few years back probably hammered the Giants straight up. Love the Pats at 3

FWIW here's the history of Super Bowl "rematches"

Miami d Washington (Super Bowl VII)

Washington d Miami (Super Bowl XVII)

Pittsburgh d Dallas (Super Bowl X)

Pittsburgh d Dallas (Super Bowl XIII)

Dallas d Pittsburgh (Super Bowl XXX)

Dallas d Buffalo (Super Bowl XXVII)

Dallas d Buffalo (Super Bowl XXVIII) - the only true rematch

San Francisco d Cincinnati (Super Bowl XVI) :(

San Francisco d Cincinnati (Super Bowl XXIII) :(

No real pattern (though also not a ton of history) - only Dallas and Buffalo have met twice in less time than these 2 - even SF/Cincy had a large number of different players by the 2nd meeting.

Didnt the Giants win in NE? Arent the Giants a much better team right now? I think this could be a blowout in favor of the Giants.

The Ravens are a flawed team and could/woulda beat NE at home. Giants have the QB and four-man pass rush to give Pats fits. They have no deep threat - the one deep ball they tried all night was to Slater and resulted in an INT. I love the Giants int this game.

I think the Giants should be the favorite. Theyre the most complete team
Coach B with time to prepare for a revenge game? I don't know. That wound still has to be raw.
Revenge isn't going to make that secondary any better.
Seriously. Who does Julian Edelman cover? Nicks, Cruz, or Manningham?
Shocked me that he was covering the Ravens best WR (and not so surprisingly getting dusted by) Boldin.

i placed a bet on the giants -2.5 at +156
Why would you do that? Might as well just go ML if your going to go +2.5. I'll be going half on ML half on +3. I think the Giants win straight up
it pays +31 more than the ml.-2.5 has already dropped to +142.
Ah I read it wrong. THought you took Giants +2.5 rather than -2.5. I got you
