Need a Drink For a Small Dinner Party (1 Viewer)

We are having 3 other families over for dinner tomorrow and my wife asked me to choose a cocktail to serve for the adults.  It needs to be summery and appropriate for both sexes.  It also needs to be a little "off the beaten path".  i.e. Not a g&t.

Anyone have anything?

Caipirinha is Brazil's national cocktail, made with cachaça, sugar and lime. Cachaça, also known as pinga, caninha, or any one of a multitude of traditional names, is Brazil's most common distilled alcoholic beverage

Moscow Mule or Dark and Stormy. Both made with ginger beer and lime juice, which covers the "summery" part. Just pick between vodka and black rum.

What are you serving for dinner?

For this type of gathering, I like to do pitchers of something that scales.  Like Dark and Stormy's or something.  If it were daytime, I'd suggest Pimm's Cup pitchers.

Dark and Stormy (Goslings, ginger beer, lime) with a splash of pineapple juice on top.

I love Capirinhas, but it can be a bit of a pain in the ### if you're going to do multiple rounds for six people because it really should be muddled when the glass is prepared.

If you want a tasty variation on a Moscow Mule, you can make ahead some peach puree and make Georgia Mules.

Blow job shots.

Non vegetarians are going to have Chilean Sea Bass marinated in a soy ginger glaze.

So are you thinking of the cocktails as aperitifs?  A lot of our suggestions are more boozy picnic type fair.

For a more elegant pre-dinner drink, maybe a corpse reviver #2 or even an Americano cocktail.

make highly potent sangria with exotic fruits, a really expensive spanish table wine and some raspberry vodka.

Yes.  Aperitifs.  We will likely have a Mersault or Montrachet with the fish.

Why not just have a variety of different cocktails/mixers/booze so people can have what they like?

This Italian Sipper

Corzo Italian Sipper

1 ¼ oz. Corzo Silver
2 strawberries
1 sprigs of fresh basil
4 drops of balsamic
1 oz. Fresh lime juice
2 oz. distilled water
2 packets of Splenda or similar or 1 oz Agave Nectar

Serve over the rocks in an 8 oz. glass

Method: In a mixing glass muddle fresh strawberries and basil, add the rest of the ingredients with ice, shake 20 times and serve in a rocks glass with fresh ice. Garnish with a fresh spring of basil.

Apple pie moonshine?  I just wipped up a batch yesterday..  Would probably make the party more interesting..

Yeah, I'd probably just do the classic Americano as an aperitif.  It was the first cocktail ordered by James Bond in Casino Royale.  And it's dead simple.

1 oz sweet vermouth (it was created with Carpano Antica, which is awesome and great chilled alone or in my favorite Manhattan recipe if you need to use it up)

1 oz campari

2 oz Perrier or a similar soda water.

Just build it over ice in an old fashioned or highball glass.  No stirring necessary.  Use a bit more soda water for a highball glass.  Garnish with an orange wheel.

Negroni's a good for men and women, because the women think they're kinda girly, but it's literally three different liquors so the dudes will appreciate getting ####ed up

One of the families is from Milan--it's an Italian drink, right?

Yes.  A classic Negroni is essentially an Americano with gin in place of the soda water (so it's sweet vermouth, Campari, and gin in equal proportions).  Because it has Campari, there's a danger that some drinkers may find it a bit bitter.  You can always back off the Campari a bit, but most good aperitif have that bittersweet thing going.  It is said to stimulate the appetite.

If you're into vodka try infusing it yourself at home.  Very easy to do and much better than the commercially infused stuff.

Suggestions for flavors:

Pineapple
Strawberry
Strawberry & Basil
Blueberries

You can have it as shots, neat, on the rocks, or as a cocktail with club soda.  It takes 2-3 days to infuse.

Nothing says "summery" like fresh-squeezed lemonade infused with liquor and fruits. Blackberry bourbon lemonade, lavender vodka lemonade, raspberry vodka lemonade.  Who doesn't like lemonade?

A lot of good suggestions but nothing screams class like taking BJ shots off a persons groin.   Nothing but upside here.   They get all the protein of the real thing without the supposed horrible aftertaste.   The pics are bound to be a hit on Facebook, probably set a record for likes and you can find out which one of your friends wife's have "talent".   Sure fire winner here, quit overlooking it.
