Need some help: Did Farrior sack Sanchez? (1 Viewer)

Sharks:

Can I get some help here? A spot in the championship game is on the line and comes down to this question: Did James Farrior really sack Mark Sanchez today? Here's how the NFL.com play-by-play scores this first quarter play:

# 3-18-PIT 34 (1:21) 6-M.Sanchez sacked at PIT 34 for 0 yards (51-J.Farrior).

# 4-18-PIT 34 (:49) (Punt formation) 9-S.Weatherford punts 30 yards to PIT 4, Center-46-T.Purdum, downed by NYJ-25-

I didn't get a chance to see this game, so can someone confirm that Farrior really got a sack here? I've won the sem-final by a mere 0.18. But if the NFL changes its mind about this play, then I lose a point, and I'm out of the championship. Yahoo says it publishes stat corrections on Thursday morning, but I don't think I can wait that long to know if I'm going to get hosed.

Thanks!

I saw this play. I did not think it was a sack. I was playing against the pitt defense so I'm not totally impartial but Sanchez was just past the line of scrimmage. I suspect it will get changed.

When I watched the game while I was following the gamecenter it said Farrior tackled Sanchez for no gain but it had the LOS moved up a yard on the next play when the Jets punted. However, now that I checked it again it has it for no gain and the LOS did not change.

Here is a link to the play:

Now that I reviewed the clip it says "4th and 17" (it was 3rd and 18 when the play happened) after the play so it would mean that Sanchez gained a yard on the previous play but the play by play has it at "4th and 18".

This is a tough one.

Thanks for posting the link. Wow, this is really close. I hope they don't change it! If I were a replay official, I don't think I could change the spot based on the replay, so I think it should stand. How's that for wishful thinking?!?

Not that it means anything but I think the announcers said it was a one yard gain on the play, no?

I tend to think they keep it as called on the field.
