Need your help with something. Before I go on, let me say I am a big Colts homer living in New England. Over the holidays (while I was away from home) after the Pats beat the Giants to go 16-0, my neighbor puts a 10’ x 10’ banner on my garage that says:

“Pats #1

16-0

We (heart) U!”

After doing so, he takes a picture with his cell phone and sends it to me. I’m thousands of miles away, and the banner hangs on my garage door for 5 days before I get home. I’ll admit, very funny. Now, my neighbor and I have a great time ribbing each other, as he obviously knows I’m a big Colts fan…but I say now it’s time for payback.

I’m thinking a banner something along the lines of:

“Pats #2

18-1*

Best team to not

win the Superbowl, ever!”

What would you do??

Somebody else already saud in in one of these threads so I can't take credit for it but...

18 wins, 1 GIANT loss

And I wouldn't give him the distinction of being the "best team not to win" Instead I would call them chokers.

Take the high road and tell him the 2007 New England Patriots had a great year and this loss takes nothing away from the wonderful, magical, history-making season they had.

Just kidding. Poop in a paper bag and light it on fire on his porch.

How about "Peyton is second to Eli!" ?

Act like a gentleman and do nothing.

What did you do to him after the Colts beat the Patriots last year? If the answer is nothing (and perhaps even if it isnt), then putting up a banner would be a pretty funny thing for you to do to your neighbor.

He had to mow my lawn in my marvin harriosn jersey...with his mower.

The best thing you can ever do to get revenge on someone who delighted in rubbing things in your faces prematurely is to not acknowledge them at all. They delight in the arguments after the fact.

Whatever you decide to say back to him, just remember.

It makes the Colts look even lower on the scale since the Patriots advanced 2 rounds further than them.

Only Giants fans have the right to a higher level of bragging than the Patriots.

The simple answer from Patriots fans will be "Yeah, and how far did the Colts get? Oh that's right, they didn't even make the AFC Championship game." tough break.

most Patriot fans would rather have ended up where they did as opposed to where the Colts, Chargers, packers, et. al. did.

I'm sure most Patriots fans are glad that their team was good enough to go 18-1 and to make it to the Super Bowl, but to come this close and fall short is absolutely devastating. If the OP's neighbor is a die hard fan, then I would consider taking pity on him in this circumstance, and just let it go. I wouldn't trade places with NE fans right now for anything, and I'm a die hard Bears fan who recently had to endure a Super Bowl loss last year to the Colts. Last year's loss to the Colts still hurt, but last year's Bears team didn't flirt with this level of historical greatness as a candidate for the G.O.A.T. NFL team. However, I was a teenager when the '85 Bears team did ascribe to that level of greatness and ended the season with a blow out win over the Patriots in Super Bowl XX. I can assure you that if my beloved Bears had stumbled at the finish line in '85, I would have taken it much harder than the '06 Bears loss to Indy. I can only imagine what die hard Patriot fans are going through right now, and I'm not so sure they will be hanging their hats on getting further than the "Colts, Chargers, Packers, et. al."

Um, no. It's just a game and 99% of Pats fans will get over this by Thursday. Bummer, yes. Absolutely devastating, no.

If you can't think of something yourself, is it really worth it?

:lmao: Cool, I guess you won't need to worry about any Pats fans hurt feelings... So by all means run out and paint said neighbor's garage "18 Wins... and 1 GIANT Loss"

I'd go with it. I also wouldn't worry about people telling you to take the high road and such. On a message board like this when you're dealing with strangers I think showing class even if it wasn't shown to you is the right thing to do. But when it's a couple of friends bantering with each other there's nothing wrong with engaging in good natured smack back.

Very true. And while you're at it, slip this article under his front door:http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...mp;sportCat=nfl
