New Dynasty - When to start picking IDP? (1 Viewer)

First dynasty and fist IDP, looking for some help.

12 teams, 30 picks, keep 25. 14 starters, 5 IDP. Scoring isn't too IDP heavy, Top guy according to the scoring and footballguys is Kuechly at 191 points, on par with Rueben Randle and Stacy. Starting IDP positions is 2 CB/S, 1 LB, 2 DE/DT.

I am looking for help on which round to start picking up IDP and how many i should expect to have on the bench.

Also whether i should use IR for IDP guys like Alonso and we have a 2 man taxi squad as well.

Thanks!!!

Generally speaking, if I were to do a startup dynasty draft right now, having played in a couple for the better part of a decade...I'd largely ignore them until I have all of the offensive players I want.

Get a few uninteresting veterans to start in the short term, throw some darts at prospects for the long term, then plan to be very active on waivers throughout the season. Once your offensive players develop (your offense should be better than everyone else since you ignored idp early on) and others run into issues start looking at flipping offense for defense options.

Most IDP's turn over much more frequently than non-RB's and great options pop up on waivers every year. Seller's will also be more willing to trade veteran IDP's for prospects/picks if you need a mid/late season boost.

agree with this, the top guys would be nice to have but im sure they will be over drafted. It is pretty easy to get startable IDPs from the waivers, especially CB/S. Most of the top available FA are CB/S. Just load up on offensive talent and good young prospects
